I'm Greek and I've been following you for a while so when this video came up I was very intrigued. Greek is a complicated language and I think you did amazing, keep it up. If you stay the whole summer you will probably pick it up naturally.
This is what RU-vid is about for me - A wonderful 9minutes long video about an adventures couple that loves the world! - GOOD WORK Dana as well, wow! (I really loved the animations tooooo! 😋👌)
You guys are not just brave, adventurous, entertaining and inspirational, you are (both) flat out gorgeous. This is the calmest corner of the 'net. Thank you.
Dana Bravo!....you were fantastic and you pronounced many words beautifully 😊. I was born in Greece but we immigrated to NZ when I was 4 ( decades ago !) and I was really emotional watching your video ...you brought a lot of joy to my morning...Thank you ❤. Enjoy your time in Greece😊
Bravo Dana! While Greek is a difficult language to learn, my experiences in Greece is that it’s a country filled with hospitable and kind people. I’m sure they loved that you took the time to learn their language.
This is so amazing. I've been wanting to learn Spanish for ages. My parents speak it and my grandmother is from Mexico and only speaks Spanish and I have sadly never been able to communicate with her. This was definitely eye opening. Thank you.
omg im learning greek! i am half dutch half greek and i want to learn so i can talk to my granddad ^^ ive been taking classes for two years... next month im moving to greece and will go live there for a couple of months! hopefully i will learn lots in those months! btw, come say hi if you're ever in corfu ^^
You guys are two of my favorite RU-vidrs. You have the IT factor and in a wonderful real way. It's not about the fancy shots, and the music, it's about connecting and sharing your experiences inspiring others. Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. Great job! Thanks for sharing
As a street photographer I can relate to this nervous feeling of approaching strangers. So nice you were able to break through it, learn a bit of new language, and make a nice memory for the both of you! I always like to imagine how they go about their day after our encounter, getting home to their partner or dog like "hey funny thing happened to me today, some American stopped me on the corner to take a portrait!"
I am from Greece and I think that the Greek language is very difficult to learn and speak properly, sometimes even for us too! Your Greek were very good!! Well done. Beautiful and inspiring video!
I am in total awe that you could pick up enough words to carry on a conversation, draw and film ...wow you give new meaning to be a life long learner. I am so proud of you, you remain an inspiration to me. Bravo!!!!!
I catch myself smiling so big when I watch your videos. I felt your nerves and excitement the whole way through. You two are so sweet and fun to watch!
Bravo Dana!!! You are so brave to take on all these wonderful experiences that you can look back on in years to come and have this grand smile of accomplishment!! Can't wait to see Greece thru your experiences!! Stay safe, Blessings!!
That touched my heart and made me cry because of you opening your heart and being so vulnerable to ask that sweet man to draw his portrait. So courageous and so touching!! Bravo!🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟
This was so cool to watch! I have always wanted to learn a new language but never really know how to learn with structure or what to really study 😂. I couldn’t stop smiling this whole video!
That is amazing!!! It’s not an easy language but in my experience Greek people are so hospitable. I’m sure people love that your putting so much effort into learning their language. Wonderful! ❤️
wow well done Dana, I have been learning greek for over a year, you have renewed my motivation to learn more, it takes a lot of guts to start talking to people, it took me a lot longer than 7 or 9 days to be able to talk to strangers (other than yasas!) very proud of you
Thank you for all your hard work, Dana. Most people in Europe will be thrilled if you have tried to learn their language. I have always thought that it's horribly arrogant that we English-speakers go all over the world and expect everyone else to learn OUR language. You will find that you can increase your fluency by having conversations and trying to read everything you see - from the menu to the food packaging to the local newspaper. I love visiting Italy and I get all kinds of compliments - even though my Italian is pretty basic - because Italians are so very flattered and pleased that I have made the effort!
I couldn't stop smiling while watching this video! ❤️ Greece is such a beautiful country! I really hope you'll visit Bulgaria, too, this summer! Have a great time, lovely people! Marie x
Hello Dana and Lou 💕 I love your videos, you both seem amazing and very kind people. Being greek I know how difficult our language is, so you have done an excellent job! Well done 😊 Travel safe, have an awesome summer in Greece!
Good for you!! I took several semesters of Spanish, but have been too nervous to try to converse with a native speaker! You are brave :) so cool to see the connections that begin to happen when we become vulnerable! Good for you! Keep it up and you will be fluent in no time at all!
What an inspiration you are! I wish I could show this to my high school students so they could see that studying another language isn’t just useful but leads to really fun experiences. By the end of the summer you will have so much more vocabulary and so many more opportunities to interact with Greek people, you will be amazed. Good luck!
This is fantastic! Your tenacity and persistence paid off. You reached a wonderful goal. Congratulations. You are both awesome as are your travels and videos. Thanks for sharing!
Watching this video of your effort brought back the excitement, strain, and the awesome feeling of freedom that comes with communication that lets you explore and enjoy. When I was in my 20's/30's (1980s/1990s - pre-internet, all books), I traveled for work and some holidays, so I learned the basics of a six or eight languages (Greek was one). I made a pamphlet for each language with a hundred-ish nouns, verb tenses and conjugation, cases, directions and numbers/money (I called each my "Dictionary for Runaways"), then walked the city from early morning until late night (a.k.a. - very early morning) trying, failing, practicing and learning. Your portrait idea is wonderful. I didn't have the balls to do something like that. Very fun. Very exciting. Drink in everything. Burn your candle at both ends.
I’m on a water fast right now and I’m not sure if this is heightening my emotions, but walking with you through your journey in Greece is so..I’m just feeling right there!
I just love watching your videos. They are so chilled out and I like how you come up with these challenges and new ideas. I had french at school over 10 years ago and have forgotten most of it. For our road trip to france I used an app to refresh my french. It felt so good to be able to communicate with the locals. I feel like people are much nicer, when they notice that you are making an effort to learn their language. Have a safe trip! Greetings from Germany :) Lisa
I'm from Serbia and literally screamed just a wee bit when I heard that you were going to go through our country ❤️ I love what you're doing and I'm glad that your encounter in Serbia went well 🌻🌻
Καλησπέρα από την Αθήνα! The vast majority of us speak English fluently. Yet, I'm pretty flattered that someone from so far away makes an effort to learn my mother tongue. Great job, Dana, really! I'm impressed that you've learned so many things in just a few days, considering the fact that you guys are on the road. Wow! Greek is a tough language to learn, honestly. So, thank you for giving it a try! Also, thanks for the inspiration. I'm learning Swedish from online sources for a couple of weeks now, and this video just made me smile and gain some confidence. Have a safe and enjoyable trip, have lots of fun, and if you stop by in Athens, maybe I'll bump up into you and have a nice συζήτηση στα Ελληνικά with you. Καλές διακοπές!
You are so brave. I learned a new language at the age of 29. It was so scary to talk to people in the beginning so I totally understand the trepidation. Love your success!
i came across your channel just these past few days with the 7 day water fast.. i have to say you both are amazing... you are real... in all ways. something this world lacks and has all but forgotten about.. your videos are heartfelt.. i look forward to walking with you on here thru your journeys and adventures..... blessings and love from South Beach, Miami, Florida....
Oh Dana this was a great thing to do. I am from the UK and we are VERY lazy about learning other languages ( in my opinion) as everyone tends to speak English. I'm sure this enhanced you visit to Greece and people DO appreciate it when you make an effort to have a few phrases that you have learned.Well done you.
Wow I am so proud of you Dana! You did an amazing job! I am Greek myself and I can tell you that it is very rare that people try to learn greek and we appreciate it so much! Please keep working on it, you already sound great with good pronunciation and very clear sounds which is what most people struggle with. Don't forget to visit my city Larisa and mountaint Olympus and the nearby beaches! Plan ahead because the heat is coming and it will be mean :D Συγχαρητήρια και να περάσετε υπέροχα αυτό το καλοκαίρι στην Ελλάδα!
I lam in love with your joy for life and enthusiasm You make me feel like I Can do anything! Wishing you both so much love and. Fun on your journey xxx
This is so inspiring! Well done 👏 Your so brave & Its so nice to see the joy it brought you and those you spoke to. I’m sure they appreciate your effort to speak their language. 100% loving your videos 👍 x
Just started watching your channel today starting from your Marie Kondo clean out. I applaud your decision to travel the world and your positive attitude while doing so! Enjoy your travels and thanks for sharing them! Just subscribed so I could share your adventures!
just want to say how much you inspire me to make my own videos. I study filmmaking and I think your editing looks very professional. Every video is like a short film, the story flows so nicely, your storytelling skills are amazing! You put so much effort into making these, and it inspires me to work on my own stuff. I wish you safe travels and more adventures on your way!
this is the sweetest and most inspiring video! We plan on learning french asap- thru similar methods- and Montreal is just a hop away, to practice for real... I'm endlessly inspired by you guys!!
wow honestly, you should be so so proud of yourself, for learning so much in such a short period of time, for fully dedicating your time to it and for doing that portrait while chatting in the language - very moving
You guys are amazing, and I love following your videos and adventures. Please keep filming and making and sharing! Also, highly, highly recommend driving to Dephi (the modern city and the ruins), beautiful drive and lovely place to see.
This was such a wonderful video! It's interesting how staying open to new experiences can show us so much more of the world. He was so happy to have his portrait done, you could really see the joy in his eyes. What a sweet moment you now have to remember! Excited to see how much more Greek you learn, and the adventures you both have this summer! :)
You are truly inspiring! I'm from Austria and speak german, I learned english since I was a kid and a few years ago I "had" to learn russia (in school) but I never was really good. Now school is over and I don't have to learn it anymore, but also I don't want to forget everything. This video really inspired me to keep on and keep learning! Thank you. Loving your videos!!
Hi Guys How are you? Your greek language is so good for first time hahaha very nice. I´m studing english language too and for me it is not very good but I´m trying hahaha. I´m whatching your videos with your van and all them are very nice, beautiful too. Congratulations for you from Brazil.
This is the best timed video! I've always wanted to learn Finnish (my father's family is from there) and it is a tough language that I've been dragging my feet on. But I'm so inspired to give it a shot! Thank you for another wonderful video!
Yasou, this is one of your best. I've been wanting to learn Spanish for years. We holiday in Tenerife almost every year and it would be so handy (even though everyone in Costa Adeje speaks very good English), but I;d love to learn the basics. The problem isn't the learning, the problem is the remembering. I forget everything. I learnt so much French when I was at school, yet I have forgotten almost all of it, despite visiting France a number of times and using enough to. get by. So hats off to you, Dana for learning so. much in such a short space of time. And it isn't easy to learn Greek. Well done. And quite possibly the most important Greek word I learnt was Yamas! (usually said before downing a shot of Ouzo) 😃
Ah wow Dana! You're incredibly brave. I've worked at my current job for over 3 years now and I'm still terrified for speaking in front a group of my co-workers. Not even to mention presenting to clients. You've inspired me to challenge myself this year and improve my communication skills. 2019 I will finish off being a confident speaker! 💪🏼
I am in love with this video... I actually love all of your videos, guys; but this one was so sweet and exciting, I was SO happy for you, and I couldn't help but to smile so much throughout the video... I am really happy for you, and you defiantly should be proud of yourself.
Such a beautiful video. I cried watching this because I could feel how special the moment would've been. What a challenge, but wow was it amazing to see. Thanks for sharing Dana.
What a great subject he made, I loved his bashfulness! He seemed like such a sweet man. So glad you found him, I'm sure it was a lovely experience for him as well. Ugh, this video makes me feel all the feels. I loved it so much
Loved this video! Please document more of your Greek learning experience! I’m making videos of learning German and Irish this summer, but hopefully I’ll get to Greek in the future 😊
Ok, ok... I´m going to come back to try to learn French, I´m going to come back to practice more my English... I won´t travel to the world visiting amazing and kind people and places in a van, because I don´t have courage (and resources), but I´d say you two are life saviors and inspired me. Stay strong! I love you two!
