Years ago in Thailand, people would live in the Kingdom full-time by just hopping across borders every month. Can this still be done today, or would you get into a lot of trouble trying to remain in Thailand full time on a tourist visa or a visa exempt stamp. Peter, this was so enlightening with that gentleman from that business. More of these presentations please. I'm sure there are tourists et al who have problems, small or large which problems can be utilised to educate want to be overstay tourists. My commendation to the representative of that business with clarity of procedures and problems some people face because of laxidazical attitude.

A Tourist Visa is a 60 day visa, while a Visa Exemption is (for most countries) a stamp in your passport that gives you 30 days. It's important to use the correct term when providing this (important) information.

Good video from the two Peter’s.. 😊.. it’s great to have a tough immigration system here for sure 💯 % , if only the uk 🇬🇧 adopted the same policy ! One day over & if caught / arrested / deported/ banned is a little bit harsh though in my opinion ..a few weeks over then yes maybe ..

These clampdowns could be connected to the upcoming changes in the tax system. In most countries if you reside there for 6 months or more (usually over 180 days accumulated in a tax year) you are classed as resident and liable for certain taxes.

My Thai embassy in Canada has just issued me a tourist visa for August. I was in thailand this past Jan Feb and March having been stamped twice this year already. ( 30 day entry stamp). You would think that my embassy has all my entry dates in their system already. Why would they issue me a visa if there was a chance I would be denied entry at immigration upon arrival ? I mean the embassy in your own country is the official screening point. Can't wait to see what happens. Sadly, it's becoming increasingly difficult to come to Thaïland these days. Might have to look at different country options in the near future. Thanks for sharing.

Embassy does not have access to that and we are talking about visa exemption. Also people who get a tourist visa are not guaranteed entry. We have many cases of people being refused entry with a 60 day tourist visa. The officer can decide on all entries whether you have a visa or entry on visa exemption.

The twice a year may be a guideline given to Thai immigration officers as in switch on if it’s the persons third time. What I can assure you of is a lot is at the officers discretion. Some will give you a harder time than others and that may even be down to have they’re having a 💩day.

Not sure why they don't have a simple evisa system like India and most decent countries these days, it's too much screwing around going to agents just to get a few extra day extension to your visa.

Excellent VLOG Peter - just an idea, maybe you could have a tax accountant on your channel - not necessarily to talk about the change as of 1 Jan 2024 since there is so much unknown - but to talk about Tax Filing by retirees (retirees who need to file vs retirees who do not need to file, how to file, when to file, can filing be done online, is filing complex that needs a tax accountant to help or if easy, also if digital nomads, English teachers, etc. need to file). Many recent retirees or people planning to retire in Thailand might find this interesting,.

I come here in March with a tourist stamp, extended it and went to border bounce in Cambodia after 60 days. I’m planning to do another border bounce in 60 days and then get a student visa, do you think I will encounter some problem?

I think you're playing a dangerous game. Yes, I can't guarantee that you'll get stopped from coming into the country, but you're taking a gamble.

Thai embassies in some countries offer 6 month multiple entry tourists visas with 60 days each stay. It costs 5 times a regular tourist visa valid for 60 days. What would be the point of issuing a multiple entry visa if you can only enter the country twice? Does having such a visa make entry easier than on visa exemption, especially if you come to Thailand 5-6 times a year?

So I have a question, two times by land +2 times by air and you can do a one time or more times than one these extension paying ฿1900 for another 30 days if you can do that once and 2 x 2 by C then Five minimum that you can come in which would be six total months

Wow , only 2 visits allowed in 12months. That seems low. Saying that I visit every 3 months for a 2wk stay each time. I have been doing this on/off for 6yrs.

I think you've missed interpreted what we were trying to explain if you're going away and staying out of the country for a while then coming back it's fine but coming and going back to back and trying to remain here full time on a tourist stamp is not fine. We didn't say you could only come into the kingdom twice on a tourist exempt stamp, we were advising people not to stay full time on a tourist stamp because in the end they'll get deported

great video thanks for the tip. The problem for people under 50 is that the student visa doesnt really allow us to travel as they will eventually stop at rentry questioning why we travel and dont study. No many options to stay in thailand and travel apart from METV ( 6 months re entry visa for tourists). So with student visa we have to stay fully 1 year in thailand and cannot leave or visit families or go back home

You are correct on this. They want you in the school. It’s just an option. There is a strategy to staying here long term as tourist but it’s just not sustainable. Let me know if you need help

The whole Visa system needs a shake down. Why not allow property owners a renewable non-working 3 year residence multi entry visa and charge about 500 quid for it? Allows us to spend our money here and not steal or take Thai jobs which they seem to be obsessed with this and we dont want anyway. Nothing will change until that does, Dubai/UAE is a great example of modern Visa system thinking whilst still protecting its nautral citizens and generating a lot GDP within the country

I was finally stopped by immigration after 2 years of spending about 5-6 months a year on visa exempt entries. They were pretty adamant about deporting me. I called my visa agent and she called her "contact" in the immigration police. A supervisor came to me and asked me a few questions about what i did for work and told me i need to apply for a tourist visa in advance and couldn't keep using visa exempt and staying for extended time periods. I was lucky they let me in thanks to my agent. A well connected visa agency is very much worth it even just for the relationships they have.

It's true. I also went six times in 2022 and I've been twice already this year. I'll email you next time I'm in Bangkok and meet you for a coffee and show you my passport. Bear in mind my average stay in Thailand is about 6 days. I never do 30 days or back to back.

Yeah I am also have to honest with these people that said they do this more than 2 occasions… I was also questioned numerous time at DMK airport and the officer said, “I know you are trying to get work permit, but you have entered into Thailand too many times… please make sure this time you get work permit visa and or ED visa if you like to stay in my country without any issues”. As comment above stating 11 times without problem is a troll or an idiot.

Not if it's not continuous, ie you're actually staying here for 90 days, but using a tourist stamp instead of the correct visa..

There is an LTR visa with a category for this but your employer and you must meet very strict financial requirements.

@ThailandBound I'm going to spend 3 to 6 months at a time for the next year before I relocate permanently. I am concerned that the income requirement is unearned income. If the requirement is unearned income, I will have to wait until the digital nomad visa is approved. I will, of course, continue to visit, but relocation may be delayed.

We can’t give you a 100% answer on this. It will be up to the officer’s discretion. The video was very clear on that.

Yes, it is what immigration are looking out for are people who are continually residing in Thailand, but they're using tourists stamps to do it.

If they don't have 800.000 baht they should never come and stay in Thailand. You need at least 2 million baht and an income from your country ,like a pension.

You can come back. It's unlimited. Some people are just trying to sell their services. From the British embassy in London - "Furthermore, foreigners who enter Thailand under this Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme may re-enter and stay in Thailand for a cumulative duration of stay of not exceeding 90 days within any 6-month period from the date of first entry."

Our service have no bearing on this topic. Some may be ok to come often. Up to the officer. Watch the video maybe ??? I can’t help you if you get refused entry unless you want to appeal. So no business for me right? Give your head a shake.
