@@thesilk1954 yeah 10-30 days I was happy with most things too, the second month, many things started to bother me and made it hard to have good sleep & routine.
@@cordster515 thanks mate! I talked about it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tkEd67WpKF4.htmlsi=TTU_ha-6h0NCYcFi Siquijor maybe one day but not this year.
Basically, quality of accommodations is generally bad, everything including food generally more expensive than similar places like in Vietnam, Thailand, and Bali, but the natural beauty of the place is unparalleled.
@@bertronix182 I haven't been to Bangkok yet but I can still say that it's one of the best city in the world to live a great life...Never heard anybody say anything bad about Bangkok...You must have had a poor experience for whatever reasons.
Philippines is not cheap if you go to tourist spots like Siargao but if you go to lesser famous tourist spots but has great views you can find cheaper and comfortable places there.
Where exactly? Everywhere I've been in the Philippines they charge as much as they can for accommodation. They try to charge Thailand/Indonesia prices but with a noisy or no AC, uncomfortable bed and no luxuries
I left for Vietnam. Could not take a lot of things in the Philippines. Cannot trust people, infrastructure and what you get for the price of apartments. It's a mess to me. Vietnam has been great and what I expected of the Philippines.
Joose, you have posted a lot of different videos on Siargao and Da Nang. I'm curious which one you like more, overall, and what are some key differences between the two places. Where would you rather live long-term?
@@EvolvedBonobo Da Nang is 1000000% better for long-term, it's waaaay cheaper, better accommodation, more comfortable, better food, better internet, everything works way better! Siargao is really amazing place too tho, incredible nature, nicest people & community, more chill vibes but for me and most people, it's better for few weeks or up to a month.
@@JooseTheNomad Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks, mate! I am in Thailand now but arrive Da Nang this Thursday for 2 months. First time in Vietnam, so your videos have been helpful 🙏
Schade!! War wirklich mal cool…
My first reply to you. I'm Canadian/ Finn, and I like all your videos that I've seen so far. Retirement next summer and hopefully to the Philippines for the winter. Kiitos nähdään!
The value for money is unfortunately so much worse in Philippines compared to any other country in the region. You will have to spend 2-3K to get the same quality of life that you would get in other countries for 1-1.5K. The people are lovely though and it's easy to make friends.
You have tons of options for different kinds of "software engineering" aka coding/programming, and it'll give you tons of freedom. Just make sure you enjoy that kind of work, it's not for everyone.
Totally agree with 5:45 It would be easy for me to buy in the Philippines (Filipina girlfriend) but I just find you don't get much for your money in the Philippines ironically. To get modern Thai or Indonesian (or Viet) digital Nomad standards it's way more expensive. Infrastructure is lacking, and it doesn't seem the gov is on the right track to fix it all anytime soon
@@WeiFinder Yeah I was thinking about it and asking around. People say it's a struggle to build also as it's hard to still get the quality you wanted... But instead of changing girlfriend to Indonesian(lol), I think anyway for most people it's better to rent to avoid any headaches with owning a property😊
Siargao is an awesome place to visit but you will experience regular brownouts and internet outages so not a great place to be a digital nomad. Though many other places in the PH to base yourself out of and affordable so you can travel to Siargao and other islands regularly for breaks.
Man.. I work a modest job here in the UK, get around £2'200-2'300 a month (GBP).. Working class average life here in England.. Just checked the exchange, an that would put me on around $170'000 pesos (PHP) a month.. And from a living cost search i just did, thats apparently big baller money there!?.. I'm amazed!.. If you read my other comment, i would love to start a new life there like yesterday!.. But I'm a full time parent to my 12yr old son here in the UK.. Like the amazing average Filipinas there, unfortunately i was taught that to value family above all too.. So i wouldn't even consider moving until i was sure he was grown and fully stable in his life.. But one day.. I hope.. Before I'm too much older too, so I'm a young-ish catch and not just an 'old rich guy'.. This is becoming my retirement dream right here!.. 😎🤞🤞🤞
The Philippines is the most expensive country to live in....in SouthEast Asia yet it is one of the poorest countries in that area. The reason why rent and housing is so expensive in the Philippines is because of OFW's (Overseas Filipino Workers) returning and retiring back to the Philippines after years of working overseas in countries like America, Canada, Europe, and the especially the Middle East. Because employment is difficult to find in their own country, Filipinos have traditionally had to leave their country to find work. And because they can speak English very well they are chosen for jobs over other people from that region. If you ever go on a cruise in the Caribbean or Mediterrean....you will notice 75% of the crew are Filipinos. Their ability to speak English well and their friendliness makes them a prime candidate in the service industry overseas. Now after many years and ready to retire, many of these OFW's are returning back to the Philippines and buying up houses to live in or to rent out...driving up housing prices at a ridiculous rate. Many OFW's still working abroad are also able to get long-term mortgages because of their status.....a luxury that is not easily obtained when living in the Philippines because of the unstable job market. And on top of that, you have South Koreans buying condos in droves in the Philippines and driving up condo prices. Fortunately it is still relatively cheap to build your own home in the Philippines but that luxury is only available to Filipino citizens.
If you have money then you can go to a better place not just complaining. Duhhhh!!! You know how much you pay. Don’t go to a cheap restaurant. You comfortable bed? Then book the moat expensive in shargao problem solved.
@@fernandolapitan197 it's literally the point of these videos to describe how everything is in a destination where people have never been who's watching. It's not "complaining"😂
If you dont like Manila, stay in Cebu, Davao, Batangas, La Union, Boracay, Dumaguete and Iloilo. Siargao is away from Civilization and Typhoon prone that's why it is not advisable to stay there for long term. Siargao is good for 3-5 days but for long term nope. That's why old expats are lesser there because it's never comfortable. Air bnb also not working much and offers expensive stays so better go for agoda. Seems like you have difficulty finding cheaper places of good standard. Do agoda or Kayak as they offer discounted prices of these hotels. Will cost you as low as 13 to 60 dollars better hotels per night. Including amenities. Many hotels are also using Starlink so when you book your stay ask what type of internet service they are using. But pldt is working well in Cebu. Siargao is shockingly low, like 14 mbps - it's really low.
