If you've got get together I find you can get people to engage more coz you can make groups with your neighbours and add group activities if your building a care home or school I find it adds a lot more atmosphere
I definitely agree with you that they only make the packs cross compatible with base game; Hence why every time they live stream a new pack, they literally only have base game installed…. This company is a disgrace
Agreed, its like so close and yet just not executed to the fullest potential so its a bit lack luster and disappointing when its nearly there. On a different topic: Satch, you are looking so defined, handsome, and healthy, keep it up!
I tried and it was a flop 😅😅 I think after 3 days I spotted my first resident and she was just using the downstairs toilet (has a toilet in her room) then went back in her room.
Still not buying the pack even though the way Satch plays makes it look so much fun - but i have NEVER seen EA promote a pack as much as this one. I see ads for it everywhere..how about instead of paying for advertising they put that money into fixing the pack?
Yes. Seems like they put more focus on marketing, instead of doing the right thing - focus on improving the product. Ugh why the companies are like this..
You can set the whole building as shared and only rent out 1-tile rooms. The tenants will then share showers, beds, fridge, litterally everything. (I do this when I don't want to play all my household members. I let mom and the kids rent a 1 tile room and I'll just play as the dad and the cat. We still live in one house and do dinner together, read bedtime story for the kid, but not be bothered to change diapers or deal with 'phases'.)
@@Firise interesting idea. Unrelated to you, this just remind me of something.. i feel bad for the mom and kids. why only the dad who can ditch his responsibility like that.. too realistic ugh hate those kind of dad
OH Um Gee?? 😲✨This was so scary, idk why you made video with only your floating head 😢 technology is so advanced... 🤧🙏 . . . ANYWAYZ- I love building videos :3 ty for the upload, hope u recover your body soon ^-^ ☃️🎄🎁👼💖💕 Merry Christmas to all ^
I think this packs gameplay is actually pretty good, especially at fitting in with other packs, and it was a highly requested pack. Its just the performance thats horrific
I got it for christmas! I do really enjoy it and it fits in well to other packs and even though the world is rubbish, because you can build them anywhere i use it a lot. Id recommend it, but ONLY if you think you’re going to use it a lot and you think you’d enjoy it. Normally i’d recommend waiting for the next sale but if you cant wait then go for it! :)
I was just going to suggest LittleMsSam's auto-employee mod...and someone beat me to it! It's great for this sort of thing. I ran a Bed and Breakfast long before Get to Rent came out, and had a little downstairs movie theater, daycare, and cafe area....and the vampire owner's hidden jail cell behind a hidden door where he could abduct tasty roommates to keep for their plasma. >_> And if you really want the pack, and don't want to pay money for it? There's ways to do that too, and not reward EA for their scummy behavior both towards the players, and the devs - because the devs work under crunch conditions, and are notoriously low paid. Simmer Erin did some videos a while back on the poor working conditions at EA and why people don't want to work for them.
Satch, I would try to use the clubs from Get Together. Can you use the shared space as club hangout? Then the elders would come out of their rooms an do the activities that you want them to. Or a grandma could have a 'club gathering' with the grandkids and play boardgames etc.. :)
It should be possible to have a club gathering without setting it as the club hangout location (it's been a while since I've played but there should be the start hangout at current lot option or something along those lines) so that would be another interesting way to do this, which would be nice.
I love that! I like to make clubs that are just for families, I'll have a parent/grandparent as the leader and their kids and grandkids as members, makes for fun gatherings without needing to make an event 😊
Satch, to make it even better with LittleMsSam's mod "Auto Employees" you can automatically spawn a cafeteria vendor on the lot for free (it's a lot trait through which you can allow different services - vendors, barista, bartender, comedian, busker, violin, piano, guitar, DJ, caterer... -) by just clicking on a door). Oh and if it can help, Kuttoe's "Front Desk" mod also allows you to spawn a front desk employee on any community lot through Get to work's animation and object "THE Front Desk"! I use them all the time XD
@@neyyahjones2069late response but the front desk employees work in residential rentals. They’re just annoying because they will use your stuff and bake white cakes lol
Ooh my sims need that lol though to be fair we don't need them to live in separate units for that, we can move them in together already to have a rehab. That's probably better too since they'll keep their withdrawal moodlets and all
There is no way I'm touching this pack until after a EA really fixes it and it is on sale. Horse Ranch cured me of buying anything right away. Why does EA use us to play test after we spend our money.
I'm so happy I pre ordered it. There was one time I couldn't do buildmode, so I had to restart. No big deal. And one time the game thought every tenant was missbehaving and 3 families got evicted for no reason. I got new tenants the same day. No big deal. I don't see why so many people complain every time new content comes out.
Or just...get it and don't pay EA for it at all. It is always ethical to pirate from companies who do unethical things to get money - like selling broken products! And you know, treating their employees so bad that the product they make comes out bad. You can have your cake and eat it too, and all without giving EA a dime. They're scumbags, so who cares?
@@Firise people complain bc the packs never work like they're supposed to (and for 300 other valid reasons). your experience honestly sounds awful so i'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or if the bar really is that low for you-for $40? oof. i haven't been able to play my game bc all the bugs, and i don't own any of the newer packs.
The phone layout is one of my most hated features because it does take me a while to figure out which damn thing is for what lol. Also, they're too damn lazy to do proper cross pack coding 😆If they do it's going to take multiple patches over time. They just need better game testers and overall better coding team.
The cafeteria from DU was what I thought would be ideal for retirement homes. I use it a lot in all kinds of community lots. I also have 2 mods that have the same set up with their own foods. S&S has a really nice one.
My boyfriend bought me this pack for Christmas and my sim only have 2 units as a landlord and my game is duplicating the units so now on owned rentals it says I have 2 extra units. How does no one notice that bug before putting up this DLC. Sims 4 definitely needs to spend more time on these expansion packs before releasing them.
Too bad you can't set the rent to 'elderly only'. You can however have one room for a staffmember to rent, and they can create a club for cooking, cleaning and what else the staff would be doing. And then dress them up in those white nurse attires. I'd love to play an elder tenant and just sit there watching my food being served.
I thought about that literally yesterday, but I decided that my elders deserve much better care then having their cooker randomly exploded and dealing with all these lagging stuff, so let them get money from their retirement pay and live with a buttler.
It's always free online, if you do a little searching. And it's always ethical to pirate games from unethical gaming companies who sell you 75% of a broken product, because they're busy forcing their devs to work under crunch conditions for not enough pay.
me and ea go back ea took over bioware who made mass effect and dragon age nearly killed it they bought out a multiplayer game litterally crashed peoples consoles , they lost starwars franchise thats why ubisoft doing starwars game because loot boxes and play to win in batlefront but they did have success with the 2 single player starwars games so i think theve calmed down but ea is run by shareholders whoaint gamers
lmao every simmer doing LPs right now has a broken, buggy experience every day - even James Turner who is forever positive was having a laugh at how bad the bugs are...even Plumbella is appalled at the broken rent. But hey, with people like you paying them for their sh*t product, they'll never stop making them bc...you're paying them to slap you in the face. If making broken things gets profits, there's 0 reason to make functional products. Just pirate, if you want to play! Same amount of fun, and it discourages EA from continuing to make buggy products, because the only language the suits at EA understand is $$$
I’m sorry people have been so aggressive about your comment, I agree with you, it’s buggy asf and way overpriced but we already own it and it’s still playable so it what it is, also normal simmers don’t have as massive safe-files or corruptible ones as YTers do cuz they literally make tens of videos a month with a lot of content, I still agree that the game pack is pretty fucked up and EA are pos, I mean my biggest shock was seeing sydmac (a literal sunshine) talk about the bugs, but regardless there’s no need to be fighting someone for using a product they already own, stay nice! :)
I dunno if your neighbours in the other rented places being the welcome wagon counts as a glitch, it seems legit to me that the residents would welcome new people to the building and want to see how you live… in a horror movie kinda way.
Love the video and the way you’re looking at the gameplay - I’ve been doing community living builds in my game for years, but I think you might be giving 4 rent too much credit? We have always been able to set up a retirement home… and if you do it just by assigning beds instead of making them separate units you get a more active lot? You’re limited to 8 sims … except you can add more using either room mates or houseguests… and you can just invite more sims to the lot to walk around in the shared space and they’ll use those games and facilities … which you seem to have to do to get using 4 rent to get them out of their units anyway? I’d love to see you compare the gameplay the same way you did here with and without 4 rent because I haven’t seen anything 4 rent is actually adding to this kind of communal living gameplay that we can’t already do better without it?
Totally agree. I feel like the way it was presented it this video is actually more limiting for retirement home gameplay. BUT I will say that incorporating For Rent has definitely improved my retirement save personally. I have it set up with one 8-sim household for “staff” and my favorite elders. Their rental unit is just all of their different rooms with the beds assigned & doors locked accordingly. Then I also have single sims renting the rest of the rooms/units. I really prefer it this way. It’s like I have my main characters and my background characters 😂
I genuinely cry when i see snow too... cuz im so traumatized by the brutal northeastern winters of America. I won't be upset if i never see snow again... i never again wanna experience slipping on the roads as i drive. Or being shut into my property and having to dig myself out. 😂😅
I’m ngl I really want For Rent just so I can do the Not So Berry challenge and other things and have all of my sims on one lot. But that being said I am not paying for a broken pack and I am not giving EA and more incentive to carry on releasing bad , broken products
If you want it, get it for free online! It's been safe to do that for years now, if you do a bit of searching around. You can still have your modicum of fun with it, without rewarding EA for their bad behavior, like everyone else.
Honestly the butler thing where they do stuff all around the building instead of only in your apartment sucks for any kind of playthrough besides this very specific one. If you’re actually living in a big, nice apartment with your sim, you’re not gonna want the services you pay for working outside your unit.
Wouldn't you have to hire the vendor and butler every time you play that lot though? I wish I knew of a way to have staff just turn up like they do on a lot that is a bar
If anyone likes using mods little ms sam has a great mod that adds a lot trait to the lot and then you can click on the door and set autoemployees for many things, like a busker, a guitarist pianist or singer, a market stall vendor, a buffet table vendor, a dj, a caterer etc and they just come automatically to the lot even residentials without paying to hire them. I think if they'd coded in all objects it might create obsessions where sims compulsively use those objects and that would be more annoying imo, but you could make clubs if you have that feature to get the sims to do say "art activities" then "game activities club" or some sort of body activity like going for walks together or something?
Guys, can we actually put the decorations away after Christmas etc? Because I have this really annoying glitch where I cannot put Christmas lights away on the rental residential even with the decorations box 🥴
I hate how they make this game, it's almost necessary to buy the game packs to have something to do in the game, and yet cross pack gameplay is almost non existent. Makes me mad, because one of the things I loved in the sims 3 was the cross pack interactions and all the little things you could do, made it look like it was all integrated into one game. The sims 4 just look like base game with a bunch of mods, that the creators didn't think of a way to connect all the packs as if they're working separated on it.
Agreed, its like so close and yet just not executed to the fullest potential so its a bit lack luster and disappointing when its nearly there. On a different topic: Satch, you are looking so defined, handsome, and healthy, keep it up!
First thing I built when I found out about For Rent. 😂 I was going to age up Judith Ward and throw her in it. I got really sick and never finished it sadly. 😢
I created a build challenge: The Cursive Build Challenge: 1st floor is first name, 2nd floor middle name, top last name. If you've ever had a different name, you can include them if you want. All will be in cursive. Left align, one letter above another beginning with a capital. Begin and end rooms where they naturally begin and end. If completely impossible, it's ok as a last resource to create some inner walls through half-walls or dividers, while keeping the same amount of outer walls from the names. Basements can count as a floor. Of course, I prefer the most difficult options. ;-) The letters should have curved walls. No speed builds, please. I'm seizure-prone and they set me off. TY. Interested? Anyone can play! You could also just use three names you like. :-D
I have a retirment family in a regular home on my map 🤷🏻♂️ Just for older sims that I’m not interested using anymore and don’t want to kill off because they’re still connected to the overall world story I’ve created .
