In this video, we play researcher trying to figure out how to get the best sound out of a stock C7 Corvette Exhaust. I'll do an in-depth walk through of each of the different NPP Performance Exhaust Modes (via Engine Sound Management in the MyLink System) as well as demonstrate what the exhaust sounds like when the NPP exhaust system is disabled by pulling fuse #41 (2014) or fuse #42 (2015-up).
Go ahead and comment below if you need any help or clarification with setting up your new toy!
Thanks for watching and please give it a thumbs up and click that subscribe button if you enjoyed or found today's video helpful!

All C7 owners, read your manuals. #42 is a blank on 2019 . It is fuse 87 for the 2019 model

Nice catch, thanks for keeping an eye out - I had no idea they changed up the fuse box/wiring in 2019!

26 minute video summed up in less than a second… there are only two types of modes for npp exhaust…. Open and closed…. Stealth and Tour is same, sport and track is same. Pulling the fuse leaves the npp open all the time, even when fuel management kicks in, so yes in theory it will make it seem louder as you are going through the gears and in cruise….. end of video.. bunch of nonsense

Hey, I gotta give the viewers plenty of sound clips so that they can hear it for themselves… but not a bad quick and dirty synopsis 😉

Yes, it worked on my ‘17 Z06. I put it back in actually because it was a little too much drone for me. But very easy to switch back and forth.

Yeah, I figured that might be the case with the Z... at least we have the option to easily activate/deactivate as we wish with the fuse trick!

I can hardly hear the exhaust on this car at all even with this mod. Granted I did come from a 16 Roush rs3 that actually sounded amazing in comparison to my new c7.

OK … I have bought a 2019 C7 Grand Sport with the stock performance exhaust and a 2019 Mustang GT with a stock performance exhaust. When I have both of them in TRACK mode the Mustang is way louder especially when just driving around. BTW … the Vette exhaust with NPP only has the butterfly valves in the outer two exhaust tips. The inner tips have no valves.
@Chris-ly3lv
@Chris-ly3lv 2 года назад
Muffler delete and keep the NPP valves, then you would really know what a Corvette sounds like. TRUELY LOUD AF. But keep the NPP valves.

@1Brain4Wheels
@1Brain4Wheels 6 лет назад
I don't know for sure, but I would imagine it would end up with a similar, if not even a bit louder result with the NPP bypass... I only say it might be louder because the LT4 should be noisier (vs LT1) and I think that would be noticed more with half of the exhaust not going through the inner more muffled exhaust outlets, but either way I'm sure it will sound awesome!

Haha, I know exactly what you're talking about... once the rpms come down it's almost hard to believe you're listening to a Corvette, this will definitely help! Also, I saw your other comment earlier, another user R Williams said that for 2019+ it's fuse 87 FYI

Which mode is louder Track or Sport
@1Brain4Wheels
@1Brain4Wheels 4 года назад
I honestly think they both have the same loudness, but track mode allows the exhaust flaps to be open more of the time than sport does (ie sport mode may only open the valves under more aggressive acceleration etc. whereas track will pretty much keep it open unless at low rpms)

@1Brain4Wheels
@1Brain4Wheels 4 года назад
Dray Jones hmmmm, it shouldn’t be any of map/dome lights since they auto turn off after ~10 mins., did this just start to occur or has it been since you bought it? I only ask because I had this problem with a car previously (my old Tahoe) and it turned out my battery was just shot and would drain over night, maybe you can take it to the parts store and have it tested?
@drej7505
@drej7505 4 года назад
1Brain4Wheels it just started to happen I went and got a new battery because the lights drained my other one entirely
@1Brain4Wheels
@1Brain4Wheels 4 года назад
Dray Jones that’s weird... do you hear any fans running after you get out of the car? I’d be curious to have you test how quick it drains-if it’s slow it may just be a light somewhere (can’t think of which one, they’re all practically led) but if it drains quick you might be able to narrow it down. Sorry I’m not of more help, I haven’t heard of this problem with the C7 yet :/

Exactly! Yeah, if you pull the fuse after having the exhaust set in "track" mode, then power is no longer going to the exhaust baffles/valves and thus they stay open, giving that great sound no matter what driving conditions! :)

I have the exact same car as you. This mod was well worth the effort,but I can't stand how quiet these new c7's are. By the way,what rear spoiler have you got as it is my next mod,right after the borla x pipe.
@1Brain4Wheels
@1Brain4Wheels 6 лет назад
Yeah, I've been side tracked with other small projects and life etc. but I agree, the C7 stock is too quiet for my taste (the actual sound is fantastic, just needs to go up a notch), so I still need to decide what I want to do with the exhaust to change that! For the spoiler, I went with the Stage 2 (has bigger winglets) spoiler made by ACS Composite (acscomposite.com/collections/corvette-2005-2016/products/acs-c7-stingray-stage-2-rear-spoiler-z06-z07), definitely a quality product and helps to really accentuate the crisp lines of the rear and give it an even sportier aggressive look!

@charleshenson4183
@charleshenson4183 6 лет назад
1Brain4Wheels I just got it in & it does look good,but it didn't come with mounting hardware for the spoiler & the wicker bill has 4 oval shaped gaskets that I think I will have to super glue them on as they won't stay on otherwise. If I had to do it again,I would definitely go the factory route for better quality & may be even mounting directions,as this came with none & has a roll of double sided 3m tape that I have no idea of where it goes.
@1Brain4Wheels
@1Brain4Wheels 6 лет назад
Hmmmm, I know this sounds crazy, especially for a spoiler, but I did see a couple that said they install with double sided tape (for people that don't want to drill into their car). I think most of the ones that are fastened to the vehicle (mine included), are made with the bolts sticking out of the bottom of the spoiler-if your's isn't like this then I would probably return it? Although mine did come with basic instructions, it didn't come with a template for drilling. Had I installed it myself, I would probably get a roll of paper and make a template by setting the spoiler on the paper and marking where the bolt ends were.
