Thank you! You couldn't go wrong either way between those two cars! Personally I think you made the best choice plus not you don't have to take the depreciation hit!
I daily drive a Jeep Wrangler, and recently let someone borrow that for the summer - so the C7 is my daily - It's really great - fun, sporty and love the control of the 7 speed manual transmission- very smooth in touring mode - not intimidating in least. Love it.
Bought 2019 base LT1 with 50k miles a month ago for my 50th birthday. Ride comfort is fine for me, I read the base model has the best comfort and since I won’t be tracking it no point in a higher trim. Paddle shifters have a delay and wish I would have gone with the stick. I like everything else about it.
I would daily my c7 base to work for about 6 months. Did well until I got the headers and tune. Was still fair after that but I decided to just get a gas saver and keep the corvette in the garage as weekend warrior.
I am 20 and bought a v6 mustang as my first car and I love it but my end goal is to own a corvette, this puts my mind at ease knowing I can daily a corvette as easily as a mustang. Thanks for the informative video.
Thanks for this vid man. I’m 18 and just bought a v6 mustang as my first car but my dream car is a 2016 c7 corvette which I plan on getting soon In like 2-3 years 😤🙌
I love the c7 man such a beauty I had a Camaro as my daily for a while till it got totaled from someone running a red light and honestly it was an amazing car but requiring premium fuel and working 35 miles from home every day it took its toll on my wallet on top of living in palm beach Florida which is expensive to live here. Hopefully I could have a performance car again one day, but I would definitely be keeping it in my garage while I use my civic for commuting haha I love your content. I’m 24 years old and am inspired by your videos
I appreciate it! And I totally understand that! Luckily I don't have to do that much city driving out where I live or I would be in the same spot! And you will definitely get another one one day! The right car and right deal always pops up eventually!
For the V4 mode delete look into the Range AFM disabler… all you got to do is plug it into your OBDII port and as long as it’s connected V4 mode will stay off😎 very easy to use and no tuning required. For an exhaust, look at AWE, they make track and touring axle backs for these cars that sound amazing. Best sounding exhausts in my opinion
@@TrawickGarageoh and I will tell you the cylinder deactivation DEFINITELY trashes your motor. My blown lifters and oil manifold were courtesy of the v4 mode 😂
Great information here. I like the body style of the C7 and would love to own one someday. I am looking at a 2014 Z51 LT2 that only has 14K miles on it. The people want $48,000. Yikes! I am a old fat guy and don't fold in half anymore. The C7 Corvettes are lower to the ground than even my old 1973 Corvette which only had 190 horsepower. Chevy has come a long way since the 1970's. Regards from Colorado
This car is beaitiful man . Im 23 and this car is within reach for me . Did you look at the scat pack /hellcat ? I Iike corvette because its an american supercar like a GTR or audi so cops dont think your racing like those dodge boys😂😂
I did actually! Always loved the Hellcats and will definitely look at getting one in the future. My main stray away was most that I could find in the price range of the C7 were higher mileage or beat to death. Plus as a daily I knew that thing would suck gas lol. But still a great car if you can find a good one imo. (Plus I am sort of partial to Vettes lol)
Same here Bro . Im 26 & definitely can afford a corvette finally 😅😂. i looked at hellcats and scats But just dont see a reason to buy something for 80k Plus when i can get a COREVTTE 🤯 around 55k, its lighter and still has 6.2 V8 engine . You could even put a supercharger in it for more HP....Think the corvette is the best option for me personally
As a Engine builder now owning C7 Z06 headed out of town was contiplating using eco mode, but knowing that means dead cylinder not firing yet getting heat and lubrication cause carbon build up, So i will never use Eco mode as i travel, ill bite the bullet pay for gas as opposed to paying for mechanical damages.
Going to pick up a 2017 white Grand Sport (or having it shipped up here not sure yet) in a few days. Cannot wait, love your videos & they helped me make my final decision, I spent a good month on going back & forth.... I'll be driving it from Dallas to Omaha so we'll see how it does!
i owned a c7 for a year as a daily. it was amazing to drive but the ride comfort was brutal and low seating sucked. i do not recommend as a daily driver. too uncomfortable.
Ive been thinking of buying one, because i found a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for 38k so ive been looking into it seeing if it worth the daily drive
I've been considering couple year old supras as a daily, and knowing that these are cheaper actually makes it pretty enticing. I like the tunability of the supra, but the Corvette already starts with higher power too.
I got a '14 2LT base 7spd manual convertible with 16k and sport exhaust. I love the car and the non Z51 ride very smoothly . In fact a bit too soft. I add Z51 shocks all the way around and tighten it be still a really smooth ride. Enjoy
You’re doing yourself a huge disservice by not getting a tune to deactivate that AFM immediately. It has a very minimal impact on fuel economy. Mine will still get 29 MPG hwy without it. I have a manual so mine AFM won’t activate unless I use eco mode.
Motorweek and Motor Trend both reviewed engines with cylinder deactivation systems, and for the average driver, they found no measurable increased wear on the engines. Obviously, how you drive your vehicle in what conditions and what maintenance you perform can affect this. Just FYI.
Thought about it but realistically it didn't make sense driving where I live. It would be fun as a weekend car but driving a stick on my route everyday would be a nightmare. Plus the wife wouldn't be able to drive it if she wanted to!
thanks Troy…. love the white stingray…very informative, i pick-up my 2014 C7 velocity yellow on Friday, and now im even more excited…. it’s close to your mileage, has 25,000.. and looks like a new car as well. i love this body style, and i don’t think i need a super-charged 600hp stingray…460hp is plenty for a daily 👍🏼 thanks again, … nice property you have out there … im stuck out here in el paso, in the desert basically, i miss the trees i grew up with in kentucky 😩 be safe, blessings 🙏🏼
Does no harm. GM would not continue to put themselves in to a lawsuit for engine recalls and repairs under warranty. This is just Gear Heads talk. My 2011 Ram 100 5.7 Hemi have not experience any issues.
It SUCKS as a daily driver... You feel EVERY DAMN crack in the road and oh god don't hit a pothole or you'll be dropping $1200 for a new rim and tire and in the rain it wasn't to float all over the place..lol
We have 2 2014 C7 Z51s both with Mag Ride….. and I can tell you there is a HUGE difference in ride quality if you get a NON run flat tires. My wife’s car has brand new high end run flats and they run rough compared to my 2 year old non run flats. No need to mess with suspension…. When ready for new tires get non run flat tires.
Cylinder deactivation does do a lot of damage to the engine, transmission and lifters. There’s a item called range technology you can plug into your OBD port that’ll prevent cylinder deactivation. Your car will have a significantly longer life span without the cylinder deactivation
Its not good idea because this not fix valves problem he should buy DOD & AFM Delete Kit - LT1 8 DOD Plugs to Block Off the DOD Stacks GM Gen 5 Head Bolt Kit (ARP Bolts & ARP Studs Available) Four LS2/LS3/LS7 Lifter Trays Includes Water Pump Gaskets, Front Crank Seal, & Timing Cover Gasket 8 Delphi LS7-Style Lifters (Upgrades Available) GM Gen 5 Head Gaskets of Your Choice GM VVT Camshaft Bolt Optional Balancer Bolt Optional Valley Cover Gasket Must change stock cam
I don't think this is true at all. A good system does not affect your engine at all if you keep it maintained. I just read a bunch of tests done by Motorweek and Motor Trend, and they concluded no measurable wear on the engine.
I have a 2016 3lt Z51 I'm from Northern Michigan mine doesn't get daily drove we have harsh weather it's in parked over 6 months of the year as far as mileage goes I have a manual transmission with a supercharger it isn't good to run it on eco mode manual transmissions don't go into eco mode automatically you can get a chip that plugs osb port that cancels the eco mode as far as headlights vibrating my has never done it as far as brake dust replace them with high end ceramic brake pads the problem goes away mine is yellow racing tint it's hard to keep clean it attracts bugs and police too I've been stung by bees getting in to the car I'm not sure I would be pulling out any fuses
I’m thinking of getting one this summer. I have a Lexus is250 rn would you recommend trading that in or keep as a backup n only put 8k down and finance the rest
I’m guessing you got it with around 30k miles? How you feel about that? It’s crazy to me that so many people think thats high mileage for these cars… I personally feel that anything under 40k miles is good. I got mine with a little under 36k miles
My 2019 C7 had about 34k miles when I bought it. I really wanted to purchase a Corvette with less miles, but it was exactly what I was looking for. An Arctic White 2LT, M7 certified one owner lease return and the price was right. I'm retired so I don't exactly daily drive my car, but it's comfortable enough to drive every day if I really wanted to. Don't forget to wave!
That was my reasoning too, I found the right model, color, options and manual from a single owner who took great care of it and he transferred over his extended warranty for me. The mileage wasn’t super low but it was still pretty acceptable for a 6 year old car😎 I’m waving with great pride!!! It’s a real blessing finally being a corvette owner, my dream car🙏🏽
Yep! I think it had right around 31,100 when I pulled out of the dealer! And I agree with you on mileage! I have seen these cars get up into the 150k-160k mileage range and still running with no issues!
DO NOT allow the engine to drop down to 4 cylinders. Do the research and find out why. It will end up costing you $5000 plus. And, its not your headlight jumping, its the fender and the light is mounted to the fenders. You won't be solving that issue I can tell you.
I have had my 2014 for 3 months as well as a daily driver. It is great. I do have mild2wild so I dont wake neighbors up at 4:30. Much louder. Want to get the Ranger to keep it in V8 mode
im looking at getting a 2016 c7 and i wanted to know what that spoiler is. love the clean spec of your car and i wanted to know what spoiler you got to compare it to a track wing
Thank you! And it is just the stock GM spoiler with the Stage 2 Winglets on the back! When I purchased the car it also came with the stage 3 center however I removed it because I wasn't crazy with how it looked + didn't need it on there for everyday driving!
Glad to see I am not the only one! After doing a bit of research it seems like this is a fairly common issue and something to do with the plastic clips inside becoming displaced or broken over time.
You should be fine! I am 5-11 and have no issues at all. Still quite a bit of head room where I have the seat positioned and it can go lower than what I have it I believe!
I'm 5 11 1/2 and it's a tight fit,the passenger side is even worse, it's actually unbelievable how small and tight it is,very fun to drive but they certainly did not factor in comfort.
I own a 2019 Grand Sport. I’m 6’1 250. Once I’m in I’m very comfortable. Visibility to the right of the windshield is a bit limited due to the rear view mirror but it’s workable.
Yes and No.... lol. I like the look of the Corvette and also the visibility is night and day better on the Vette believe it or not. But my camaro did drive a bit more like an "everyday" car if that makes sense. Plus with the Camaro you have the two extra seats (although small) if you need them. But to answer your question if I have a pick of which to drive I am taking the Corvette every day!
