When I was a little girl, my aunt visited from Brasil. I was curious and asked her what the most difficult Portuguese word for an English speaker might be. She said "paralelepípedo", and explained how it roughly translated to "cobblestone". I've remembered it ever since! She asked me to tell her a difficult English word, so I said "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". 😆

The soft R seemed to be difficult for even American English speakers as that kind of sound with that consonant-R sequence does not exist in English which is why a lot of them pronounce the soft R like an American R, very much akin to how you see any rare examples of brazilians speaking english replacing the th sound with the D sound, Spanish speakers replacing the English "sh" sound with "ch" sound, French Speakers pronouncing the "TH" sound with the "S" or "Z", and even Arabic speakers replacing the P with the B sound, all for the same reason. If you talk to American tourist speaking portuguese to you, you might saw them replacing the portuguese soft R with the American R for this reason.
And luckily, replacing the soft R with the American R in consonant-R sequences don't change the meaning of the words. It is more a matter of softening the American's accent when speaking Portuguese.

A palavra mas difícil de dizer em português é sem dúvida desculpe... Acertei 13/13.... Só uma coisa - me incomoda a escrita da palavra tsunami que não respeita as regras ortograficas padrões da língua portuguesa. Na minha himilde opinião deve ser escrito seja tsunâmi (com acento) seja tsuname. 😃
