Hi, Irwin! Thank you for this great lesson. These two sounds are difficult for me to distinguish when hearing a native speaker speak quickly, so I’m happy that you presented this. For example, I may likely mistake “Où vas-tu ?” For “ouverture”. I do hear the two distinct sounds, but I need to practice my listening skills in French. My answer is 6 [u] and 1 [y]. I say 6 because “vous” was said twice. I also need to learn the IPA. I appreciate all your videos!
Salut Dan, merci pour ton commentaire! You're right, usually the production is harder. As I said in a previous video, for many of students, "beaucoup" often becomes "beau cul" which is not quite the same thing :) I think your number of [u] is incorrect
