I have a GTV 1.8 16v TS purchased in 1999, currently 144 km. It's a car that has never given me problems, it has seen my mechanic 4/5 times in 24 years, only for oil and filter changes, a super reliable car as well as being one of the most BEAUTIFUL cars ever built by the old and legendary Alfa. Romeo. Ciao dalle (Marche) Italia

You've definitely covered the key points, I would recommend owners removing the sill covers & wheel arch liners to ensure there's is no rot. 1999 models & Ealier where built at Alfa's Arese Factory and tend not to rust as much as the later models made at the Pininfarina factory. In europe 916's are very much in demand & sell for more than triple the price in the uk.

Good video with nothing wrong at all... I could only add that the intake rubber tubes can crack and make the car run horrible, and not be obvious until you have a good hard look. The V6 cars did get better front brakes. Nice car, seats also come in blue leather. regards Gavin, New Zealand with a 2000 TS 2.0 Spider.

Great video 👍. In my experience i would add....door windows are a pain to adjust and will generate a lot of wind noise. Wiring for the rear demist can cause problems 🚒. Dents/dings on doors & wings are very common. Oh and Oil cooler on the V6! That said, i have had 2x GTV (TS and V6), and in 17 yrs of ownership, neither has let me down.

great vid, they also had the GTV 916 with a V6 turbo 2l. The most rare of these is the spider is the V6 turbo 2l. extremely hard to find.

@@iamandisykes I have the V6 TB. Fun engine but a bit limited in performance upgrade as it sadly has the 2 valve head and will not fit the 4 valve version. Still easier to get power from than NA V6. Getting passed 300hp is not that hard and I know some that have 400+ Mine is at ~350 and 450Nm torque with Q2 torsen and is quite the fun machine😊

Already have a v6 but have been tempted by a low mileage T spark with low miles which I collect shortly. Agree completely with your comments about the Fiat Coupe, which I also like and which can be cheap. The prices on the gtv seem to be climbing and only the best Fiat Coupes are getting expensive, but on looks alone it seems the Alfa is still too cheap.

Nice video and car but I recommend checking that your rear light bar seal is not perished. Mine was and that was the reason water was ending at bottom of the boot. After fixing it there is never water in there. It is not easy to see if that is the reason but it often is. Regards from a fellow owner. I think they are a "modern classic" for sure and a fun car to drive and to look at😊

Out here in Oz, these long ago inc the spider and GTV6 hit the lowest price point, since then they have been steadily rising in price. The cheapest ones now are well north of $8k while GTV6s are steadily rising beyond $20K for good ones. So no you couldn’t find one for £500 out here.

Sorry for a silly question but you mention to look under the sill covers and take a look behind the wheel arch liners. Would you really ask a provate seller to take these off and have a look? Would they not tell you to do one?? I only ask as perhaps i wouldnt feel comfortable asking someone to take these off to look, and i wouldnt know how to either! I am after a GTV V6 ...

Yeah it’s a big ask and I would understand if the seller wouldn’t be happy doing so. However if you did see any signs of rust that’s visible without removing in those areas id strongly recommend at least suggesting it for your own piece of mind. Lots can hide behind these sections and a good looking car could quickly become a money pit. Also on my car there is a drain from the boot which exits on the drivers side sill. If the sill cover is removed and fitted incorrectly that drain pipe can sometimes be directed to fill your inner sill with water. It happened to mine when a friendly local garage decided to straighten a jacking point on my car (FOC) I only realised after a heavy downpour and a lot of sloshing about 🤣 I would quite like a V6 too and am considering selling my Twinspark at the mo.
