Can You REALLY Daily Drive The Hyundai Kona N? (1000 Mile Review)

My wife and I are renting a Kona this week to drive from Ohio to Ocean City, MD -- and the instrument cluster settings are amazing (not that we intend to change many of them or even use a few of them). But we appreciate your comments on the drive-ability of the Kona N. Wish us luck!

im a little late to the party here but, i love seeing some different POVs on the Kona N, ive been LOVING mine. i do miss the moonroof from my elantra n-line, all my cars have had one and this being the first care ive owned that doesnt has been strange to me. all around though, 0 regrets getting the Kona N, its one hell of a vehicle

Dual climate I ended up using on my IS250 for keeping my iPhone cool as it charged on the MagSafe puck bracket I added. I’ve noticed my batteries stay healthy longer after doing this when you check it in settings! Apple CarPlay makes up for it on the Kona N a little because my phone won’t be mounted where the sun hits it but I would have preferred it had dual zone. My biggest want would have been AWD. If they make a full electric AWD N version, o man that low center of gravity weight on the battery pack would let you keep the nice clearance without any downside! The extra room inside if they design it right. The instant torque…. I want this compact beast in EV!

Nice review! Yeah, I'm getting around 18 mpg right now in my Veloster N DCT lol, but that's most city driving and 90% of the time I drive in Sport mode. When I am on the highway, I can get close to 30 mpg just cruising on Normal or Eco.

Congrats man! Not many drive the Kona N which is too bad as this is a great CUV that makes pops and bangs!

In Europe, we get one trim with Kona N. In addidion, it gives you vented seats, heated stearing wheel and heads up display (it hides and comes out with a push of a button). And that drive wheel knob thing also let's you select a type of terrain (snow, deep snow, mud and sand) just in case....

I own their fully-loaded Kona Limited and absolutely love it!

Awesome review! You did hit some points that others haven’t and I’m glad to see this from a perspective of a normal person. I keep hearing “the car is so stiff” from reviewers, but these people also drive $100k luxury cars regularly. So you think comfort wise it’s similar to the Civic? I want a new car and currently have a 2005 CRV. I can’t imagine the Kona N could be worse than that comfort wise. I really gotta test drive one…

Have 1640 miles on my 2022 Kona N Line. Loved driving it every mile. All my driving so far has been city driving on a daily basis. First road trip will be to the Oregon coast in September.

Hi liked your review had my kona n for 1 month only issue I would like your comment on is the suspension on driving I can’t tell any difference in the three suspension settings they all feel the same is this normal or should you be able to feel the changes thanks rod

Ur name is actually perfect. If you want to stay with the N line you can but when your channel grows, you can completely leave Hyundai and your name is still very fitting

Are you tuning it with sxth tune? Or atleast a downpipe, engine mount or catback?

Waiting for the 2023 model to see if they will change the dash layout like the one from the Elantra N.

It doesn't hurt to read the user manual prior start driving the car and how to drive it in the first 1000km. Then you will be not so surprised from the consumption.

Can I disable the collision distance or whatever it is? I got mine last week and it's nothing but blessings 🙏. Couldn't be happier as you said. Dude it pops legally that's enough 4 me.

Strong A/C? I live in Eastern Wa. We get up to 115 degreees in the summer, and MANY days above 90.

Those wheels might look nice on my Veloster N. My Veloster N is my DD, had it for over two years and I love it. No issues whatsoever with my VN. Flawless car for me. I live in Pennsylvania so I do have a second set of rims / tires. I use 18" Rial rims with Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons as my non-summer tire. BTW, I can get 30+ mpg and I usually drive in Sport or Normal. Eco....yuck, This is an N car!

Update: Simmons Hyundai in Elmira, NY had two in stock, I bought one a little below MSRP. They have one left (red) in case anyone was looking!

Sick vehicle, but that MPG is pretty painful for a turbo 4 banger. My Type R gets around 25 MPG and has quite a bit more horsepower...

When you drive in normal mode,how's the gear changes? The gear changes from 1st to 8th quickly?

Yes you can im on the 5000, and driving normal i do 7.5/8L and driving eco 6.5L

All that electronic garbage will fail. If it has the radar cruise thats a minus. The styling is a minus.... Thanks for the review but this is not for me.
