A mono ribbon overhead w/ a stereo room setup with a large dynamic as kick in mic also works really well! I have also noticed a lot of engineers using RE 20 on the kick in conjunction with a condenser to give it more low end character! Great shootout guys! :)
What do you think if I only have 4 imputs? Could I use two overheads, one on the kick and one "omnidireccional" on the middle of the snare and the 3 toms?
@@v.oeynhausen5529 checked thanks :). Seems fine but I'm not sure I could play peace of mind (specially being a very novel drummer) with 2 TLM 103 at arm reach 🤣 Mind you, never I look so forward to place my Rode NT2A at drumstick hitting distance either but will always be better than to put my U87 But I need a recording for this weekend and these are the tools I have. On the kick would go a Behringer 19A (some contrast, isn't it? 😄) Got other cheaper Mike's to go among the toms but neither one is omni
A spaced overhead pair, snare and kick would be the most balanced, if you have a lot of tom fills, then overheads with kick and the omni knee mic might be a good idea!
@@CompassBoxStudio thanks, its what I thought by "logic". I have in fact lots of tom fills on this - my 1st and only one - song that Im learning & will record 🤣
