My poorly insulated garage gets into the low 60's. What I do is use an under-tank heating pad for aquariums. I take the vat out, sit it on the pad (covered) for 15-20 minutes and when the metal is up to 75 or so I start the print. So far it's worked great! Those heating pads are also pretty efficient. Like 40 watts for a small one, which is still a good deal bigger than the resin vat. I've also stuck the resin bottle back into the shipping box wrapped in the heating pad, but that takes longer and is a lot fiddlier to do, but may be the better solution for multiple printers.

Ooh, those pads are just made of heating strips so you could theoretically find those(I know they made heating straps for bottles), wrap around a metal vat and regulate the resin temperature the entire time.

I use an inkbird thermostate with a Creality Ender enclosure (fire proof and other benefits), a small heater connected to the inkbird outside of the printer, but within the enclosure to get more stable temperatures for the resin. Works like a charm.

For all those with the intention of buying a heater or whatever system to warm up your resin. Just try it out first. My cellar is nearly getting 15 degrees Celsius and the prints are perfect. With several types and brands of resin.

I use a small (about 8inx12in.) under tank reptile heater mat, cost me about 12 bucks on Amazon and tops out at about 90-95F. I currently have it frog taped to the outside back of the hood for my Elegoo Mars, turning it into a radiant heater, and it keeps the interior of the print bay at a nice 80F or so even when my room dips into the low 60's to 50'sF in the winter with the blackout cover I use from MACH5IVE.

@jimmyd4341 Год назад
@@lisaciscato255 120v 16w, the sensor is a light sensor - that little sticker on the back of the case just blocks light and tells the sensor the hood is down. Perfectly fine to block it with the heating pad instead of the sticker just keep in mind your going to have to dremel out a tiny notch for the heating pad cord to come out so the hood sits flush. Good luck!

I just had a (maybe) pretty crazy idea...would an infrared heating panel pointed at the printer work? The advantage of such panels is that they don't heat the air but objects that are hit by the IR rays. Inside they are pretty efficient (at least when it comes to heating with electricity). I wonder if it would work outside. They are also not too expensive and there shouldn't be any fire hazard involved.

I also use a heat enclosure with a small ceramic heater with my Anycubic Mono X in my garage. It was -6F outside today in Rochester, NY but my garage stays about 39F. I also try to use a Propane heater in my garage for myself to get the temp up to keep myself warm while painting.

@@blackhawkuh-6026 I built an injection mold machine and need molds. Been trying fdm prints and silicone to make the molds with a number of issues. I saw high temp resin molds being made and that looks like the best option. Just finding the room and clean area is a bit tough right now. Dealing with cleanup and the fact that I may only use it when a new mold is needed is keeping me from taking the plunge too. Cold isn't my concern. UV is. I was thinking of putting the printer on the balcony and printing in warm weather. I don't want to print in my apartment because of the fumes. But then I started thinking about UV and resin curing while I pour it (before the cover goes on) and also if the cover protects the printer well enough from outside UV. Any tips on that? 😮

That mini heater might be useful to have. With winter it gets STUFFY inside, and being on the 2nd floor of a 3 floor appartment, we don't even need the heater on. It easily gets up to 78f in here so a window being cracked open even with how cold it is outside is a must. My 3d printer sits in a corner and wonder if I could mount this, not inside but near by just to help when I do need that window cracked to get some fresh air and to just manage the temp with out having to throw the AC on in winter.
