Do you know of a way to be able to scan a QR code of an individual item, then in Google sheets it just checks off a check box of that item. Hallo. Our learners have barcodes on their textbooks. Is it possible to first scan the learners' barcode, and then the barcodes of their textbooks? So that in the Sheet I have the learner name and the textbooks they have (not just a list of 300 textbooks, not knowing which book goes with which learner).

Hi, I don't understand how scanning works. You open the form, suppose there are many fields, and only one is data from QR code. The cursor enters the Barcode textbox and... what then? how do you trigger the scanning app to start looking for codes? and what app is that? Thanks

Thank you! Yes, but it depends on the website. There is not a way to do this with Google Forms easily. However, with JavaScript after scan or if the website is designed to repeat the page after submit it could be done. As for saving to copy by USB, there is the app Scan to Spreadsheet that does that. It creates CSV files that you can upload to Google Sheets. It even works offline/airplane mode, when you do not have Internet access.

Your post is 6 months old so perhaps you have what you need. A simple web page with a one field form that runs a cgi program on submit will let you scan repeatedly and will write the scan data wherever the cgi program directs. This works without needing USB.

HI Berry. Question: I noticed in the video by scanning the only thing that goes into the google sheets is the barcode number. Is there a way to have the barcode number, and then in the next column the name of the product that got scanned in? AND-- we want to use it for the inventory of our product cases wen they get packaged. But also, when we load the truck we'd like to scan the QR Code on the box and have it take it OUT of our inventory. Is there an easy way to both the input and also the output? Thank you, Rick

Not that we know of. Google Forms are very simple and one way only. Logic to return a result is not available. You'll need an inventory system or other web server application to do what you describe. That said, once you scan in barcodes with a Google Form and Scan to Web. you can do lookup, counts, inventory, etc with the Google Sheet. But only after you have done the scanning.

IS IT POSSIBLE in Google Sheets for the next column to the right to have a IF/THEN string that would state: IF B2=12345 THEN "Spring Mix"; If B2=12344 THEN "Spinach" And so on...

Wonderful app! Q. So instead of setting the "home page" to one particular form, is there a way to allow the user to select from multiple forms? For example, the user can choose the 'barcode reader' form now, but later they want to use the app to scan into a totally different form. Thx!

Yep, create a Google Site. This will serve as the app home page. You can then put links on the Google Site to your different forms and other pages if you'd like.

Hello, I like your application, however I have a problem because when I want to scan continuously the following message appears "No field to set the barcode result was found on this web page" I don't know how to do it. My goal is to scan continuously so that my answer is sent to a google form, then I could use the data on a google sheet. Is there a way to fix this? Awesome Video. I have only one question, what would I have to do to scan different bar codes and have them entered on the same sheet? Say I wanted to perform nightly rounds in the facility and have 10 different locations to scan confirming I was there what would I have to do to make this work and update on the same sheet? Just share the same form. Any entries in the form get saved to the same Google Sheet. Even if 100 people are using the same URL to the Google Form. It might help to include a "Who are you?" field asking for person's name so you have a record for each entry.

Yes, within the app there is a setting for after barcode scan; set it to do nothing. Then manual enter or barcode scan in the other fields. Tap submit manually to save your entries.

Hello there, I love this concept. I may be late to explore this but I would like to use it to capture my customers data. While offering them to register for warranty using a QR Code which will be unique (if possible) for each different model that we sell. So Customer Receive the product, we insert a small card with QR Code and ask them to scan it to register for 1 year warranty. And ask them to provide their Order Number and Email address. Is this possible? how it would work? If you can help me with this, that would be a game-changer.

I own a cabinet manufacturing business. Is it possible to setup to scan a code for an operation (cutting/ assembly/ finishing/ packing) and then scan the product code? For example, if I make a QR code for a cabinet and I want my employee to scan the cabinet code plus a code for assembly to update a spreadsheet showing that cabinet #4 has been assembled. Is this possible?

I think so. Make a form with say 3 fields; who, product, and job task. Scan the product code. And then require who did the task. You could make a barcode for the job or make a dropdown list in Google Forms. The nice thing is there will be a date/time stamp automatically added to the spreadsheet.

Hello Justin. Not that I know of in Google Forms. They are pretty basic. Scan to Web works with all websites. A custom website could be made that does the total. Sorry it took a while to reply. What are the contents of the QR Codes? If it is just an ID #, you'll need to cross reference with a VLOOKUP in Google Sheets.

The app looks interesting. It appears to be able to write to any single field web form? It appears to add a date stamp as part of the text it sends? Is there an opportunity to also add the last 4 digits of the phone number, or for it to remember some entered code that it repeats every time it scans a barcode? In conjunction with a timestamp that would permit writing the barcode into a web application then matching the entry with the application that person was using at the time. How much does the app cost?

Great questions! They fit your user name "Ron_the_Skeptic". Yes, scan to text boxes on a web page. You can scan to specific ones, or use a feature "Tab to Next Field" which will advance the barcode scanner automatically to the next available field. The date and time stamps are a feature of Google Sheets and the Google Form. Unfortunately no, the app cannot get the device phone number. You'd need to add a "name" field to the Google Form to record who did the scanning. These are limitations of using a Google Form. Having a dedicated website with a login and then a web page to scan barcodes into will solve your requests.

Yes the app will open web pages served on a local intranet, even protected behind a firewall. This is a common use of Scan to Web by businesses & non-profits of all sizes.

I spent some time this afternoon writing a web page and cgi program to write a scan to a database table. Tomorrow I will make a slight change to a router and see if I can get it all to work. Then I will know if I really understand.

If one person got two phone and he or she changes the email to his colleague, then it can be manipulated or cheated unless there is IP address is also recorded for each of attendee. For one person, here will two rows, in and out, what about to get all info for both time-in and out in a single row? If you need something that secure, I would not recommend using Google Forms and Google Sheets. You'd be better served with a warehouse management software with dedicated login and accounts.

Is there a possible way to bring up product into not just the barcode number,,, for example if i scan a book into excel, how can i get it to bring up the book name and info and not just the ISBN numbers,,,,

Google Forms are one way only (at the moment). So you can only record the barcode number. It is possible using VLOOKUP to compare the barcode scanned spreadsheet against a master list to get the book name. hi, can i set only one time scan, because i noticed that the google form allow us to scann same barcode every time.

Hello. I want to do this for an event whereby when I check people in - their name and credentials appear on the spreadsheet instead of a random number. Can I do that? If so can you help me?
