Decent people like you deserves the best life has to offer!Your video was VERY informative, and now I know which lenses I want!!! Thank you so much sir!!!
I agree with the previous post, this video is excellent and very informative! I have been looking at buying some very expensive Oakley frames to add to my collection, and now i have learnt some key points which has helped aid me in my decision on what pair i'd like to buy. Really would like to just say thankyou for this video as it's really helped me and probably saved me a lot of cash too. (y)
Great job explaining the difference. I bought some Warden with the chrome iridiums and you've made me feel a lot better about getting them. Can't wait to sport them.
Thank you for this very informative vid. I'm currently shopping for my first pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses. Fortunately, the online store I'm buying from will send frames for try-on before purchase. I appreciate the different models you tried on, as well as explaining the lens colors. Thank yoiu!
Thank you so much for the help! I was looking for Oakley frogskins, and I didn't quite understand what Iridium was. But now i do thanks to your video! :)
I'm in quite a fix. I've been wanting to buy the Oakley Holbrooks but I'm not sure whether I should go for the Iridium black lenses or Iridium black polarised. Help please! :)
with the black iridium, do you know if it actually lets more light in if its polarized, as I seem to be getting alot of sun reflection and light coming through on my Oakley Valves I just got, the 009236-06, polarized under direct sunlight, although I dont know if these have a mirror finish to them, and that's what I should look for to prevent that. Like IE going for a mirror polarized next time.
Kavinsky Smith hey just to let the person who one upped this know, i figured it out, I didnt bother checking the fit between the lense and my cheek's in the front, and it was allowing/reflecting light into my eyes and into the glass, hence why you see ball and football players putting black lines in that particular area to prevent that. all I did was check the space between the lenses and the temples.
Hey, love your videos .. One Question, as you are the master .. What is the darkest Oakley black looking sunglass lens which does not have a reflective coating ?
So I beleive that the Jupiter squared green iraidum lenses are polarized (which is what I need and want) however what I want to ask is if the lenses are clear but still block out a lot of the sunlight, I am fishing and out on the boat a lot so I like them to be clear but also dark if you know what mean
Hi, thank you for the nice video! I'm planning on getting an Oakley specially the wiretap model but I've noticed most of the stores I went in has a stamped on it made in china, I just want to know if it's authentic even if it says that cause I saw a video about how Oakley sunglasses were made and the video clearly shows it's in the US. Thanks!
I haven't seen too many people rock the Batwolfs and still look like they're not out of an early to mid-90s music video, but my man, you have done it! Plus, a very insightful video. I ended up here because I am trying to find an after market replacement lens for the Oakley Double Edge sunglasses I bought recently. I love the way these glasses feel too. Since Oakley dropped the Big Taco frame, which was honestly a fantastic fitting and great looking frame for those of us who need larger frames for having larger noggins, I have been on the hunt for something similar in fit. I did locate a pair of Big Tacos on eBay from a fine gentleman Down Under, who I have purchased from a few times before. Unfortunately, the only Big Tacos left to buy anywhere are the ones that are a bone white in colour and have that late 60s light green accent on them. -Ralph! But I am going to make them work by finding a nice complimentary lens to go with them. Anyhow, I did want to see what iridium actually was and if it was subject to just being an Oakley thing, or if it is something that other companies may use as well... Kind of like how there are Transition lenses and photochromic lenses. Same sh!t, just that one is specifically brand name whereas photochromic applies to ANY other company who makes them. Kleenex vs tissue. Rollerblades vs inline skates. etc.
Check out Revant Optics. They have replacement lenses for pretty much any Oakley frame, including the Double Edge and Big Taco. I’ve reviewed some of their lenses in the past and they are pretty good. They also have tons of colors to choose from.
I like yellow for night driving, and the ones with the best reflective on the outside and if they can curve around your head and eyes help if you are a "welding helper" to prevent "flash burn". FYI flash burn CAN occur with your eyes shut at times. Polarized for fishing and boating takes the blinding glare off of the water, heck yeah!
I got a wierd question that I don't ever see u covering. On my oakley radarlock I noticed there is a spring loaded twin holding the arms together. On my gascans I think there wasn't any pin holding the arms together. So I'm assuming there is a different hinge/pin holding the arms together on different models. So could I get a tool that can tighten a hinge on a radarlock just in case it gets lose? Or does that not exist. Or does that never happen?
Cool video. Myself personally having a wider head and face I have found the Eyepatch 2 from Oakley fits me like a glove.:) True every face is different however where I live there are zero Oakley stores or any that carry any Oakley's. I did a blind buy off of Oakley's website and got lucky. Every Single day I sport them proudly. I got the newer steel color with black iridium polarized lens. Wicked awesome looking.;)
Quick question man, hopefully you can help me, do you consider the Jade and violet iridium, both mid-range lenses, which one do you prefer? Thanks in advance.
I just purchased my first pair of oakleys the gascan emerald iridium and I don't know why but my eyes hurt if I wear them for more than 10 minutes never used sunglasses before so I'm thinking it might be that
Looking to buy some Oakleys soon... But I'm a big fan of green, so the Jade Iridium lenses are a must have for me. Do they have a very dark tint to them? Do they have a color tint to them as well, such as things looking more red or blue than without the them?
i have a pair of oakley x10's with a polarized ruby lens (i think that is the color, i got them at a sunglass hut in baton rouge and the guy didn't really have much info on them) and they are a little tight and dont really block out a lot of light, plus they are bulky. i was thinking of getting a new pair of oakleys for christmas for marching band camp next year. i used my x10's this year, and even with them on i couldnt look without squinting. i was thinking of getting a pair of black or white gascans with ice iridium lens. what do you think? i dont really like the design on any of the sport or active frames or lenses, so it has to be a lifestyle type frame.
Hi mate, really great and useful videos you have on your channel. Just love the Oakley reviews! I have a question: I am planning to buy a tortoise Hijinx w/ dark bronze lens soon. I had a Dragon Optical Rev sg before (same structure:tortoise with bronze/ brownish lense) but it was stolen. :( I just want to know that how dark or how light the see-through of the Hijinx lenses in normal sunny circumstances ? I mean, is it a calming, clear bronze-brownish or is it closer to a stiching, yellow feel ?
depending on the angle you might be able to make out your eyes while wearing G20 black iridium. as for vr28 black iridium they should be a little darker than g20
I have two pair of oakleys I would not buy another glasses. However what I was in the middle east I had a pair of Bolle sunglasses which had real glass in them and they were cool.
the frogskin are a more sporty laid back frame so it all depends on the look you are going for. as for the colors it all depends what's available but for the look i would go with something bright and loud. i don't wear polarized because my eyes are to subseptible to the sudden change in light and i get headaches
Hi, you showed the positive red iridium lens with a very bright colord frame, i am looking to get a pair of custom radarlocks with a matte heather grey frame. How reflective will the be?
I was thinking about buying one of Oakley's fast jackets and i was wondering if the colors of the icons and the lenses would match. The lenses are ice iridium and the icons are team navy blue. They are both a tint of blue and i don't know if they would look right together.
Thanks for the video really helped. Im trying to decide on a pair of custom eyepatch 2's off oakleys site, Would you say a red metallic logo would match the ruby iridium lenses or are the ruby lenses more of an orange? figured with your collection of glasses youd be a good person to ask. thanks!
Looks like it’s available on the Standard Issue site with a prizm black polarized lens in a black or white frame. It’s also available in Black Iridium in the Thin Red Line collection
Hey man one quick questions, I bought some ducati holbrooks nicky hayden edition in ruby iridium lenses and in the sun they look purple. is that okay or should I return them, I really love the red/orange color that they suppose to have but these just look kinda purple in the sun.
I have a pair of Fives Squared with black iridium polarized. I was wondering if this design is different enough to spend $140 on. The Jade Iridium doesn't seem to actually present itself as much as I had thought. What are your thoughts?
hey man great vid..i have a question for the protection index of the violet iridium lens...is it good or not?because oakley says index 1 which is low...do you have a specification sheet which confirms or something?thankou
Hey should I get positive red iridium, blue iridium, or fire iridium for my radars. I play baseball so I need one that is good for both looking into the sun during the sunset and sunny days In general
Do you have an example of the normal gray lens vs say the black iridium? I'm looking to buy a subtle pair of black radars but I don't want the gray to be too light.
Can you change the lenses of a Holbrook frame frequently for them to fit current ligh conditions? I would like to purchase a pair of holbrooks with an extra pair of 24K iridium, so I can replace the lenses, will it wear out the frame or the lenses?? thanks!!
Thank you for the information. I am in process of purchasing a pair of dark lens Oakley. My last pair of sun glasses were polarized and every time I looked at cars with tinted windows I will see a rainbow. Do you know if Oakley has that same problem?
if it's always going to be overcast then you can go with vr28 but if there is a chance of some sun they i would recommend grey polarized so it will cut the glare from the sun reflective off the water
