If I've learned anything from watching automotive RU-vid channels, you can use a 110 welder as long as you torch the gears to red hot on the diff before laying the beads. Unless you guys did that and didn't film it.

The problem with the diff is that you keep just welding the gears together. You need to weld the spider gears together and to the diff itself. Moderate wire speed and a lot of amps.

You need to turn your welder volts all the way up..and wirespeed down to wear its barley not just blowing holes. And heat them gears with a propane torch til there hot as you can get em. Then weld er up. Ive used this method with jeeps on 35s on they hold up to clutch dumps all day on dry pavement

I’ve welded many diffs with my Hobart 110 gas welder. Low wire speed, max heat and pre heat the diff with a torch. A lot of drifting and abuse they holding up

It was definitely more fun to see you do this instead of raging the rado with an open diff

To weld a diff properly preheat the gears first, add a plate and then weld with 220 welder, the thing would never break.

You need a full spool. I destroyed my welded in my drift tacoma with a 150hp, full spool has never had a problem.

You can 100% weld they diff with a 110 volt cheap ass harbor freight welder as long as you preheat the hell out of it with a map gas torch till it is almost glowing red before you start welding it and your penetration will be superb!!!

You can weld the diff with 110. You have to set it to the highest setting and I run my wire speed at 6 ish but everyone likes it a little different but the biggest thing is you need a bigger welding wire like 0.35 or 0.30 anything less then that and it won't work. I have welded 10+ diff with my 110 and they all are holding strong

You should just shove soft wax in the diff until it literally won't hold anymore. That's what we do with rc cars and it just basically locks the diff up with very minimal movement! 💯

Eaton Detroit Tru-Trac is ok but a full Spool carrier would be better. Pulling the spider gears then putting a mini spool, lok-rite, or no-slip in it would be cheap thrills...
