@@ritenour12 towards the end he realized how nice he was being.. he still said 3 weeks at first, which is my point if you actually read it. my guess is he is trying to find a way out saying they could use his equipment to haha.
Moving back with Tommy just lifted your content massively... Your twos dynamic is so funny. Even better watching Tommy rip your friends and seeing who can handle them
Most places charge 30hrs labour, not including the cleaning. That is a lot of lift time for a shop, but if you got a big place and number of lifts it is fine but a small place it is huge.
I don't feel bad for Will. He had some experience as a tech. Honestly, you learn the most from projects like this. I'd be lying if I said my first real experience working on a car wasn't exactly like this. Minus the lift and all the tools... but this is how you learn. The results are gonna be killer if the boys stick with the plans!
Yea, if Tommy and rudnik wasn’t there he’d be fucked. But, he has a lot of help around him so he’d be good. it ain’t no 3 day build more like 3 week build lmao
It's a 22 hour job to put motor in they say I just put one in a 535i deff buy all new tubro lines seals every thing lol looks like he had a huge gasket box
Yea, Tommy is that one uncle who talks a lot of shit. But, who also helps out and it’s hard to admit that he is right considering he talks shit. but, I’m happy for will tho he is stoked that this is happening. You could tell he was waiting for this moment
You can see how happy Tommy is to have Chris back in CT 😅 He is like glowing with happyness in his face 👌👌 Its awsime to see how fun you guys have together !
You guys should bring the lift back down to rest on the locks after raising it up, keeping a car in the air supported only by the hydraulics will cause premature wear, so putting the cars weight on the locks will make your lifts will last a lot longer
lifts already last a long time, you dont need to do that at all. lock is only there in the event the hydraulics ever were to give out not to help protect the damn lift itself.
What i see is someone getting into this mechanics thing and with people that are around him giving him tips along the way hes going to do good. All the jokes and shit talking is constructive criticism if he can take it.
This is a flashback to doing all this to replace the turbos and transmission on my e90 335xi. Except I did it with a jack and jack stands in my tiny ass garage in the middle of winter in Maine. Just remember it could always be worse haha
It’s definitely worth dropping the rear subframe and cleaning all the surface rust off and treating it and undercoating it all while it’s out, you’ll probably never have a better chance to do it. You’ll feel soooooo much better driving it if you do that. Take the extra steps for a better outcome. Be the best you can!
been here since ruddy had 3k subscribers and seeing will this grown up and working on his car with tommy and ruddy guiding him is so wholesome and makes my day
Man dude, you guys have such a fuckin great vibe for videos now. So dope to see little will tackle on this car and his positivity and eagerness is definitely making the content better in combination with being back in CT and having tommy around. I can’t wait to see the upcoming content and hope everyone is all together as often as possible
I feel like the ONLY reason tommy is being so nice and letting willy use his shit to clean this thing up is because he wants to see it all freshened up and clean again! It was once his car after all, he wouldn't be doing all this for some miata project🤣 plus it'll be cool for you all to have clean BMWs to track and rip around the backroads!
Thank you for moving back to CT and even better thanks to papa Tom for renting you out shop space. Loving the CT content and the banter with Tom. Keep it up!!
This is like watching classic 3 stooges....Tommy's definitely Mo, who's got Will as Curly all kinds of flustered and Chris is Larry egging him on ! I would say get a cutting torch for all those fooked bolts, but that thing would go up in flames in a heartbeat and burn down the whole friggin' shop!
Coming from someone who does a lot of bmw engines. Engine pull takes only 4-5 hours after becoming experienced with it. Being your first time you guys took a few unnecessary steps. The harness does come with the motor and just unplugs from the dme. There’s only some wires in the harness that remain with the car. Core support doesn’t have to be removed. Just hoses and lines disconnected. But it does make it a bit easier pulling the front end off.
Make sure you replace the oil filter housing gaskets; both the oil and coolant ones. That and the valve cover gasket was leaking in my 135i and it looked just as bad. Also, replace the valve cover (not just the gasket) because the plastic tends to crack over time from heat cycling.
Re and Re engine on a 135i is 21.5 hours book time 38.5 hours for a short block. BMW dealers in canada are about $169 an hour. and a new short block is about 20,000$ if anyone is wondering.
It's very good you guys are doing this refresh, one of the worst engine failures on n54's are oil getting caked up by the belts which then causes them to shred and get caught on the dampener and then pushed straight through the front main seal completely fucking the engine. The process sucks ass on our cars but it's definitely worth it
Ngl idk if I have been more excited for a build, other than the crx. The way will was grining at the end was amazing he's so excited it's making me excited 😆
Man it is really good to see Tommy and Will back in the videos. Tommy seemed like he was being extra nice but every minute he was still roasting you guys.
Hey there will congratulations on taking out the engine it always takes time no need to rush mate I know you can do it don't worry about Tommy you are a great mate with rudnik
Be sure to do the front main and front main seal guard! Also ofhg torque spec is super sensitive!!!! Internet is lacking N54 content and I’m lovin this stuff, thanks for the video!
Just a tip next time lock the steering wheel so you don’t accidentally mess up the clock spring when removing the rack n pinion shaft. Goodluck with everything.
Base labor for a long block on a 2010 135 w/N54 is 26.5 hours, prodemand shows a ton of additional time needed for miscellaneous items to complete the R&R.
Will (y'all) need(s) a work cart to put tools and bolts on while you guys work on cars! Putting bolts and tools on the floor to trip on and kick acroos the shop is No Bueno!
