I just got mine a few hours ago and I haven’t gotten to really get into it too hard but even in the small tasks I’ve done with Lightroom it’s a ridiculous upgrade from my base MacBook Air 2018 (no surprises). But yea just the look and feel is a huge improvement. Keyboard feels nice, screen is great, sound is shockingly good for a laptop.

The fit and finish on these are so damn satisfying. I just got the 10 core version because it comes stock with the better charger and a 1TB drive for not that much more than upgrading the storage in the base model.

Came here for the MacBook review, stayed for the editing ‘tutorial’. Not sure if you do these much but I really enjoyed watching you edit, even tho I use Premiere Pro it was super chill to watch how you edit and see Final Cut in action. Also, the MBP performs so well! Would be awesome to see how it performs with premiere pro…

Same, my m1 air is more than enough for my daily tasks. And it's display is great, I usually use it to watch movies in bed. I have to admit the upgrade is tempting for the Mini-Led display tho.

I think I will sell my 8GB Air and get a refurbed 16GB Air (damn chrome tabs)...that will work well and I can save 1090,- Euro now and upgrade to the M2 when it will come out...that will bring more bang ....well but it's tempting to get the base 14" model...

Just purchased my base model Silver one! So excited, thank you for your clean and precise videos! The problem i had with the last M1 13 inch Pros are literally solved by this new one so i wish i held out instead hahaha. Hoping my editing experience will be smooth too! Absolutely 👍, it’s more than enough for almost everything you wanna do with it, the only thing is might need an upgrade for many is the storage and not the ram since 16 gb ram is the sweet spot. Unfortunately I can’t afford buying a Mac and it’s a dream for me to have one. Maybe one day I will have it. Oh and by the way, it’s a great video.

I am using 16 inch 16 GB 1 TB config of M1 Pro. That 16GB ram does get full very fast during video editing. I shoot and edit videos for weddings and in hindsight should have bought the M1 Max.

@@zakiradi450 if you use large files, then prob the 32gb is better. But for 99% of people? 16gb is more than enough. Another thing is, you say your mac gets full, does it crash? if not, you r fine.

@@danielbroomhall8882 FCP crashes a lot but i think it needs an update that should fix it. Now i have stopped background rendering and speed is better. However, still have instances when video goes blank in timeline when playing it in preview. Then have to hit pause time to time for it to appear in timeline. However, it ain't that bad. Am happy after switching off background rendering. Also all my files are 4.2.2. 10 bit 4K so they are heavy for any machine 🙆🏻😅

@@zakiradi450 ah yeah, you use pretty large files then 32gb 1tb for you would be more appropriate. I do 4k editing but not 10 bit, so it is fine for me.

Seems to be that the m1 MBP 13 or m1 MBA is still a very capable machine! The m1 pro 14” is definitely faster but the power doesn’t really justify the $700 increase vs the 13” MBP. If you want future proof for the next 5-10 years the 14” MPB is the smart move. I will want to use external monitors so though I’ll spend more that’s something I really need.

Go 24 core with 32 ram! Or go base base base 8 core CPu and 14 core gpu for under 2k and sell what you have now on offer ⬆️ up. If you want a new open box M1 13” MacBook Pro with 1TB and 16gb ram hit me up. Cost 2068.00 after tax with the student discount 5 months ago, trying to get 1350 for it to grab one of these

Hay Garry, I was wondering if i am able to use my triple monitor setup with the m1 pro chip. I know it only support up to two external monitor in addition to the laptop's screen. But I was wondering if i were to close the laptop's lid and can I use a third monitor as a replacement for the laptop's screen?

Wondering the same thing and on same path as you! I wonder if it might be better to save by going with MBP 13” or MBA m1 w/ 16gb 512gb hd. The new MBP have performance enhancements but much heavier and thicker. However, the power is better all around on these new m1 pro / m1 max processors.

would you edit on a 14" or 16" (if you didn't have a display? if you do, can you have the main video windows on the laptop (which is fantastic) and all the rest on the screen (time line, list of media, etc...)? Is it practical? I went 14", not sure I took the right decision...

So this video has me torn. I am upgrading from an old 15” 2013 MacBook Pro and I know that the base 14 will be a huge upgrade. I had kinda sold myself on the $2699 16” MacBook Pro for performance and future proofing a bit. Now you have me second guessing.

@@bhavearth the way I look at it is that I would like to go to the 10/16/16 M1Pro. For an extra $200 you go to 16” with same config. That said it sounds like for most or all of my use cases I could get by with one of the lesser M1Pros.

Before I move to an Apple Silicon Mac, there needs to be a couple things in place. First, I'm going for a desktop, not a laptop, so certainly ports, either a mac Mini, or a larger iMac like the 27". Second thing is, third party operating support. One of best things about Intel Macs has been the ability to run any OS on them, either in a VM, or natively, and it's good on space that way so multiple computers aren't required. So, while I haven't often done it, it's nice to have a single computer that can run multiple operating systems (as needed.)

@@luca_sbll I've heard that it does. And VMWare is also still working on a solution. So, in a couple more years when I'm ready to upgrade I should have a lot more options than I do now. I've also considered building my own computer as well. I want more control over the Hardware and software than Apple currently gives. Apple has always been the company that helped me learn to use computers and provided a good environment for me having low vision, etc. Things have matured all over in the tech space since the 80's and early 90's etc. So, it would also be fun to see what's out there besides Apple that might work better in areas where Apple has really locked down now.

As aa developer running Docker, the M1 is not possible right now. - but as a video, photoshop machine - its pretty great. - I do want to build a video workstation & yea I would also want an M1-pro or Max in a mac-mini which should be totally possible - a 27" imac would also be nice -a 32" imac would be even better but its going to be crazy money.

I dont know what it is about your mic + video, but it's either not in sync or I just hate the over-processed sound of the microphone. EDIT: finished the video - the end of the video has better sync and less processing. I still dont know what exactly it is, but I hope you figure it out. I have the 2019 but 128gb for my youtube videos is slow! Premier pro , photoshop apps etc take too much space. Im getting the 2022 one with 512 gb and should be fine!
