At least this is where android succeeds. What app not available on the play store? Apk mirror, but for the most part most apps work on Android 5.

Most apps wouldn’t work, at least not the most recent versions. Some will go to forcing an update just to be used. Which won’t be possible through App Store and would just be rejected by device.

The processing power on these are so slow (relatively) I doubt you could really download anything. These days the RU-vid app isn’t even supported on them

Yeah, but just barely, Android 5/5.1 is pretty much the bare minimum, otherwise you'll have to hunt around for apks that'll work and it can be a bit of a pain to deal with, if you want an old device to play with I recommend just finding something from around 5 years ago for about $30.

We actually still have one at home. It still can perform for hours but of-course app compatibility is very limited.

Jailbreak the iPad Mini. Then you can download the .ipsw files of whatever application you want to install on it. In cases like this where Apple no longer support certain "Legacy" Apple devices like this iPad Mini, Jailbreaking the device can add functionality to these devices. Keep in mind that the hardware of this iPad Mini is still good enough to run certain apps or even updated versions of the installed apps.

I remember the pure excitement when my uncle got me this iPad as a gift, I'd film myself opening it and showing it (but never posted it), and would be amazed at how light and cool to the touch it felt, and it is still with me, dead but still kept around, somewhere

I still use the mini. Despite its broken screen it works just fine. I read some ebooks and magazines. If RU-vid or Netflix could work I might even use it as a daily driver

ios 9 so nope and apple wants to brick all ios 9 devices because in 2016 they had a bug 9n their servers that let 6s users restore to ios 9 from 10 back to 9 and those phones got bricked
