In a storm or camping or any other emergency where you just don't have any water available to you but you've just GOT TO shave for some reason, can you do it without water?!
Sure, you can use an electric razor, but what if the power is out, too and it's not charged?
In this video I grab my trusty safety razor and a few pre-shave oils, lotions and brushless shaving creams and try to 'wet shave' with no water at all! Does it work? Does it hurt? Let's see...

Dry shaving. When I was in the Royal Air Force if we were caught unshaven on parade. We were handed a disposable Bic razor and ordered to dry shave. It was painful. You should've use butter btw 😂🤣

As matter of fact you can wet shave without using water....when I was in basic training for the Navy we had to learn water conservation because Navy ships could make fresh water but only in limited quantities so we learned how to shave without water, so we would just apply the shaving cream (Colgate) and use a cheap twin blade razor(Gillette Good News) and the only time we could use water was to just rinse out the razor.😯🪒 As for taking a shower we were allowed only a minute to get a very quick shower to save on water so what you missed one day you got the next!!😮🚿

Happy to hear you and your family are doing okay through everything! I tried my first Stirling Shave Soap from a sample, got the Bay Rum scent and I see why you and others rave about Stirling! I had to bowl lather which I normally don’t do, I face lather like you do. There was a lather explosion lol I may have to bowl lather more 👍

I used to use just a cartridge razor with no soap of any kind. My face and I had to come to an agreement in my mid 30s and I had to start proper wet shaving.

Good to hear that you're fine. I've had power almost all the time but no water since Wednesday morning (Hancock, not far from HEB). I've already selected everything for a nice, refreshing, revitalizing shave and I'm just waiting for my property manager to fix the plumbing so I can get started. On a different note I've also never anticipated washing the dishes and doing laundry so much. 😁

Hey bud, glad to hear that you and your fam are doing alright and have power and everything. Out here in the desert, winter has been a bit chilly, but pretty much par for the course supposed to be in the 80s next week. Spring is here in the desert I'm just happy we haven't hit triple digits yet lol. Shaving without water would be a tough one, though, what you could have done is pour some bottled watter in a large bowl and use that for your water needs but you guys probably need that to drink. We put snow in the tub to flush. I also put it in the distiller for drinking. We are on the same power grid as the hospital (Seton hays)so we had power but we were asked to use water only for life sustaining purposes. No pipes broke here (at my house at least). My work got shut down (semiconductors) it's gonna be a while before everything gets back to normal. Lived in central Texas all my life 47 years never seen it this bad.

I have done something similar in the past. Using beard oil and any greaseless face or hand lotion to moisten your face is the key. Then a preparation like King of Shaves clear shaving gel over that will produce a clean shave. You MUST use a sharp blade, preferably from a safety razor or straight blade. Finish with Osage Rub and Witch Hazel, then wipe off your razor well. Better than nothing, but not a permanent solution.

I’m so glad you are able to make a shaving video. I had my second covid vaccine shot yesterday. And I felt like crap yesterday evening after my shot. But I’m feeling much better today. My arm aches. Your shaving with a shirt on compared to shaving shirtless.

You are braver than I am. I just sucked it up and stunk. I went nearly a week without shaving. I never go a day without shaving. Also showering. I'm spoiled, so what? I finally got a chance to shower and shave. I felt decent again, great even. We are pretty much back to normal, but more than a few in Houston are still without power or water according to local news. Now comes the clean up.

I've done it purely dry numerous times with disposable razors, without any hassle. Only problem is the upper lip area, but rapid strokes work around it. Gives me the smoothest shave and the surprisingly least amount of razor burn. I finalize it by shaving upwards. Only problems are needing more razors than a wet shave, and it takes a bit longer as well.

Nice. Sometimes I dry shave, but it's fairly rare. Usually when in a rush, need to hurry. And it's mostly spots that look the worst, like my cheeks and moustache and the neckline. Just so it doesn't look as bad as it could at work/school :D. I have that same Proraso pre-shave (menthol eucalyptus), a big tub of it.

Hmmmm. You could also do a real bare bones dry shave by using just olive oil or a coconut oil. It would make for an interesting post apocalyptic type shave series. All the best for you all in TX.

I think the best option you had : barbasol from the can WITHOUT shaking.....it comes out runny specially in the used 1/2 empty can. That is good enough.....probably as good as shaking it + water. Here is a funny real story: I live in ur state, and after 4 days of NO shave NO shower I thought: lets use an electric ..... and both Norelco and Panasonic had lost its charge.....so NO shave. I had no power and minimal piss like water..... plus the GD cold. Now you have to try one day barbasol NOT shaken. Aftershave: just grab some snow/ice and rub on your skin...that will feel really good

Nice show :-) You should have tried Noxzema. I've read that some old-timers shaved with Noxzema. I find it better than Proraso as a pre-shave because Noxzema is a bit thinner...not to mention one-tenth the cost. But I agree that an electric razor would be a better fallback. Better yet...skip shaving.

oh boy i tried shaving no water as a teen (43) going 44 now back then there were no pre-shave stuff that sucked shaving dry lol, oh yeah me no like Camping i´ve done my part of that back when i was younger.. i saw on a new pic of barbasol foam there are 7 different types i own 5 of them missing 2 lol but i cant find the missing two this i miss ( barbasol arctic chill, Barbasol Skin Conditioner Shave Cream= both on can. stay safe, cheers. I live in Plano/Allen area and I had zero power for 3 1/2 days, a copper pipe split in my attic. Fortunately, Plano Fire Dept arrived in record time and shut my main water supply off. Oh, BTW, another great video. Do you have a 2-way mirror? How do you get the direct frontal angle? Still, trying to figure out why I watch you shave for 15 mins???

Hey Sinatra, just wondering what you think is the best way to fight razor burn/bumps. i get them no matter what i do or use (cartridge, straight, safety, electric, etc), i use after shave, pre shave and all that. i know i have sensitive skin and i would like to keep the clean shave look and i dont like just using a trimmer. So what do you think i should use (razor/product) to help and prevent getting them. ps i sometimes shave before and i sometimes shave after, all depends on what i feel like doing.

I could swear on an online shaving forum they showed the Barbasol Overseas Special tube of WWII say on the box " Shave with or without water, some rub the left over Barbasol in and forego aftershave lotion or shave talc." I did this with the then modern Sensitive Skin tube Barbasol. Worked pretty well. Btw, the orange stripe Sensitive Skin tube Barbasol to my nose smelled like a bar of Zest Ocean Surf/ Ocean Blast? soap. Kinda citrus and lilac to my nose. Would I do another dry shave? Only if absolutely necessary lol.
