When you'll see Winnipeg hoods you be shocked, the North end has parts that looks like some US Midwest hoods, burnt buildings, trap house, fiendz everywhere, crime and homicide rate thru the roof. Canada has some really bad parts but its not being talked about really

a lot of canadian hoods dont look torn apart and forgotten about because they have a lot of incentives and stuff for home-owners and resources, but dont get it twisted, every hoods the same, where theres drugs and money, theres a group of people who may be armed and willing to take it

Good old Canada. Used to visit Canada until they started requiring a passport to go there. A lot of mixed race couples. Completely different atmosphere. What blew me away was all of their televised shows and movies are all uncensored. The United States censors everything. Violence. What violence.

This video is very funny to me because I went the the University of Windsor and Sandwich/The West End is just where myself and all the other students lived. Great memories here. The houses that you see boarded up are boarded because the Ambassador Bridge Company bought them from working class families and let them fall apart because they don't want to pay to tear them down. They did this in 2008 during a failed attempt to build a Second Bridge, the other houses around it look crappy because its almost 100% students and new immigrants with absentee speculator landlords that don't perform any property maintenance but Students are never really around long enough to care. Aside from a really big rat problem nothing really dangerous at any hour. Windsor definitely has some rough places but its so isolated street by street and corner by corner, I've been here long enough to know where the bad stuff actually happens and its not in any houses that are in physically rough shape driving by. Grew up in Windsor, are there "hoods"? Of course there are; they're just as bad if not worse than any American one, however its important to remember unlike in the states not all or even a large portion of the city could be called "ghetto" or "hood" only certain areas such as the west end, sandwich, downtown core etc. the rest is especially in Windsor blue collar working class. That's the thing about Canada the polarization of wealth is huge, on one end you have a street full with public housing where people struggle with putting bread on the table, many don't even have a roof over their head and then just a street down you got million dollar houses and nice clean highly developed neighbourhoods, the hood? A mere few hundred meters, the difference? Huge. Windsor in general is a poorer city than most in Ontario with a higher crime severity index rating yet its still a laid back city with a working class charm and Southern Ontario flavor found nowhere else.
That's what I argue also. Those saying go to Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Montreal, and even Quebec city, not sure what they are pointing them to, because boarded up inner city and suburbs is not what you are going to find. Robust economy means everything is being used. Toronto has zero "hoods", only boarded up is waiting for condo developers to start, everyone there knows that, Vancouver is literally just one street.

Nothing about this was hood. The only person standing on a corner was a crossing guard. Goodluck finding a detroid equvalent here in Canada. Been down in the hood in detroit and there is no comparison.

Yes I was looking for a comment like this. People trying to say go to another city, this si not good enough, you simply won't find it remotely on the scale of the US. The US has massive swaths of city with boarded up, and huge sections of city that look like an actual third world country, in almost every major US city. In Canada, almost every boarded up house or building has a developer waiting to tear it down to build condos or something. Huge difference.

Well, it is in many ways. Like, it's safer, cleaner, waaaaayyy less segregated, free health care (you don't end up with a tab of 10k just for a broken arm), you can walk outside without someone shooting at you just because you're lost somewhere, it's not part of the culture to see strangers as criminals, those are hard facts.

This is near the Ambassador Bridge where many houses were boarded up in anticipation of expansion. Not a dangerous neighborhood, just dilapidated. Also many low income student homes for the nearby university
Exactly. It was a Detroit billionaire wanting to build a twin span to the Ambassador bridge who bought them all up and left them to rot. The City of Windsor has been in off/on a legal battles for years to have them torn down. Nowhere else in the city do you see that kind of blight. If anyone wants to learn more, just search Indian Rd Windsor Ontario. Since he was so shitty to Windsor, he never got approval for the 2nd bridge, and the Canadian government is building a brand new bridge downriver of the current one.
I knew it, as my comment stated elsewhere here. There are no "hoods" and if anything is boarded up in Canada, it's because it was bought out or something for a development. That is why it was literaly the only part like that. Economy is so strong and demand so high, nothing stays boarded up for long, if you see one, it's already lined up for condos in Toronto etc. Canada has no close comparison to the US that is packed with boarded up "hoods".

It's still safer than most of nicest neighborhoods in America, they're just bad looking homes or abandoned homes but I'm sure all their kids are safe and have free healthcare and they walk around even at 3 am without getting scared of being shot
