Just some differences between Walmart's in Canada (Ontario) vs USA. Recorded in July 2017.
Yes I also sound like I'm explaining it to a 3 year old because I'm a mommy to a 3 year old who was with me while I was making this video. =p
Also, as you can see my daughter was trying to show the Kinder Surprise Egg in Canada which at the time (July 2017) I had never seen them sold in Walmart in the USA but since I have seen Kinder Joy eggs sporadically being sold in the USA, check out the video about the difference between a Kinder Surprise Egg from Canada and a Kinder Joy Egg from the US at the end of this video.
Shopping bags are free at Walmart in the USA, at least at the ones I've been to.
I know all Walmarts can be different from each other, this was just the experience of the ones we went to. The Walmart in Canada is in Ontario. Some Walmart's in Canada have expecting mother's spots, different shopping carts, bigger aisles - this just so happened to be the one we visited. I realize now, after all the comments, that you drink milk from a bag by putting it in a milk container but when this video was made I really had no idea, I had never saw milk in bags before.
I also think that the signs in this Walmart in Canada may have been red and yellow because it was close to Canada Day when we visited.
Thank-you for watching!

To answer your questions of milk in a bag: We buy it because its cheaper then the same quantity in a jug And inside that big bag there are 3 completely sealed bags of milk that we call pinte and we put 1 in a milk pitcher then cut a small opening with scisors then pour in a glass Fun fact milk in a pinte takes longer to spoil then milk in a jug

Wanda Burgess Canada does it as it should be done. Unfortunately here in the U.S. the government "protects" us from things we don't require protection from but at the same time allows all sorts of none food additives and chemicals into our fake foods. It's awfully difficult to find real food in the U.S.

The milk in the bag has to be put in a jug holder.. You just cut the tip of the top and put the bag in the jug. The Ontario dairy farmers have a lot of power. They will probably never reform their plants.. Ontario, is the only province with bagged milk. I guess probably the world! The reason we get that big huge pack of batteries is, we only have 30 million people.. America has 330 million people.. They top battery makers won't let them be sold in America.. That's a big difference! If we had to pay the same money in batteries as America.. We wouldn't buy any batteries!

In Canada, they ask you if you want bags because you have to pay for plastic bags. In Ontario, I believe it is 5 cents per bag. It helps discourage people from using plastic bags and encourages people to bring reusable bags. Bagged milk goes in a reusable pitcher. You cut a small corner of the milk bag. The plastic used to contain the milk is way less than what it used for gallon milk.

Probably because they are so thin, had to toss them right away riddled with holes . When Canada went metric, instead of redoing new bottles and containers for milk. They decided it was easier and cheaper to use bags. There are 4 liters per three bag, bag of milk. Not all provinces use bags. It falls under Provincial jurisdiction. British Columbia does not use bags. Some Wal-Mart's do have pregnant mother spots. All packaging in Canada is bilingual, English/French. Hope you enjoyed your Canadian shopping experience. Wal-Mart in Canada charges 5 cents per bag! They started that last fall

Yes it is a Canadian secret!! You place the bag in a special pitcher and snip the corner on the top of the bag. Make sure you don’t snip it too far down. Also it’s easier to pour for little fingers but children it’s not as heavy so there’s really any accidents LOL. One more thing before you snap the back place it into the pitcher and just pound it on counter or table a couple of times, ever so slightly. That will insure the Liquid is distributed evenly❣️🇨🇦

The isles in the US are bigger because the people in the US are bigger...lol, kidding Merica!. Canada has used milk in bags since I can remember(10 years old) and I'm 53 now. It's more environmentally responsible and you just drop it into a hard plastic pitcher made for the bags and cut the corner off to pour the milk out. Our smarties is the equivalent of your M&M's, but I personally like smarties better. The reason the cashier in Canada asked you if you wanted a bag is because most stores in Canada now charge 5 cents per bag. Unless you bring your own bags which most people buy and bring in the store and they last years and are reusable.

Olivia Woloshyn We had bags of milk in Manitoba around 50 years ago but we didn't have them around for too many years. I remember them being cheaper than the milk that came in a jug/carton (less packaging). The milk bag holder is just a reusable plastic pitcher designed to hold the bag of milk. Just pop the bag into the pitcher, snip off the corner of the bag so you can pour your milk and you're good to go.

Puree is french for mashed. It's not how Canadians spell potatoes. In the U.S. you have yellow potatoes with white flesh. Canadians have milk in bags because a small plastic bag is easy to recycle. I don't drink Fanta so can't comment on the amount of real juice in it, but in Europe it looks exactly like the one in Canada and I never saw Fanta the colour like the one in the US, that looked totally artifical to me.
@catherinetodd5163
@catherinetodd5163 6 лет назад
Other way around with Fanta. For example, Orange Fanta in Germany, where the name brand Fanta originated, uses orange juice, Canada uses tangerine juice and the USA version contains neither. We use real grapes in Canada for the grape and cream soda flavours as well. We use natural colours in Canada but the States uses the dyes yellow 6 and red 40 for the Orange. I assume the other flavours would have a similar breakdown of ingredients and differences so that could change the look too. If juice were the only comparison, to my mind, logic/common sense would dictate the more real juice, the more cloudy it could be but that could just be how I process things because I'm sure real juice would be heavily filtered, perhaps making it clearer, leaning my comment possibly closer toward knee-jerk than logic. Idk. lol I've used milk bags since the 1970's. When empty, the bags are great to recycle as thick freezer bags. I also like that you can freeze 2 milk bags while keeping one in the fridge. (There are 3 milk bags inside the larger bag seen in the vid) Great for people who don't go through it as quickly or get a sale and stock up for fewer trips to the store for a big family.and it doesn't take up more space in the fridge.

Some of those things are subjective to location. We've got Expecting-mothers parking near mine. It's funny how American's are bamboozled with bagged milk but there's a reasonable answer for it all. Pretty sure everyone owns a milk container. You put one of the bags into the container, cut a hole into the corner to draw the milk out. When you're done with it, you remove the empty bag and you can throw it away without having to keep all those plastic tubs. "How do you close it?" We don't. It's never been a problem for anyone or the milk.

Reason they don't have generic batteries in the us is probably becasue: in canada prices are much higher. so the duracel etc prices are really high. so walmart can make there own and people will buy them becasue of the huge price difference. but in the us the brand name ones are already affordable

Ketchup is a pretty standard chip flavour to find here in Canada. If you go into any store that sells chips, you're highly likely to find them, even stores that have their own "house brand" of snack products (eg. Walmart, Canadian Tire, grocery stores, etc.) will usually have them. Not sure if they're sold in the U.S., but we even have ketchup flavoured Crispy Minis rice cakes here, plus we also have a separate Tomato and Basil flavoured version too!

Really depends on the population group that uses them. Go to a high-income large suburb and you'll find VERY "fancy" Wal-Marts that are clean and nice, and also have some very high-end products you normally can only find online. Go to an impoverished area and you WILL find very trashy Wal-Marts. A lot of it has to do with the quality of employees available, as well. If you have people who put pride in their work and are looking for long-lasting employment or saving up money for college, you'll find more dutiful workers. If you hire from an impoverished area with many single parents who can't take time off and may come in late since they needed someone to take care of their kid, etc etc and have been hopping around from job to job, the employees won't take as much care because getting fired isn't a big deal. Bad things like getting fired or reprimanded isn't so bad the third time around. Yes, I am overgeneralizing and I know this is not the case everywhere, and there are very few accurate blanket statements. I am only talking about the personal experiences I have had in the Wal-Marts that I have visited as I've lived in various states around the USA.

I haven't seen bagged milk here in British Columbia (BC) for at least a decade or more. I have do have a bag holder that I use to scoop kitty litter into the cat box. Picture a plastic open-topped carafe with a handle. You drop the bag in the top, then carefully cut off the corner opposite the handle to make a small hole. Milk does tend to come in plastic jugs now here in BC as well (4L and 2L, opposed to gallon and half-gallon), although specialty products (like eggnog) often come in cartons. But the waxed paper cartons are older-style and usually do not to have the plastic screw-top spout on the side. One thing you'll notice is metric weight and volume tends to be more prominent over Imperial measurements on packaging. Here in BC we actually do have parent parking so I imagine this might be an Ontario thing.
