I think pension system is very difficult to evaluate. Canada government is interested to call parents purely for their benefit. Parents take care of small children. If husband or wife leave job to take care of their children, government loose in tax collection. Further when parents stay there for years, they keep on selling their properties in native countries and help children to buy houses. Huge amount of taxes goes to government while house construction and then during sales, income tax income from developing companies. Housing in Canada is biggest GDP contributor. Further when people own house, government start collecting property taxes which is a huge amount. Hence if government pay thousand as pension to parent, they are going to collect many times more in different forms from same family. You can make a video on this aspect too..

Bai G, Before getting PR If parents are staying in Canada on a valid status like a visitor, their stay is valid for a pension period. I did the same for my parents.
@baidwanbolda609 time has changed sir .. Even with 1000$ you can't do anything in Canada now.... so it's not true that kids are keeping their parents just for pension... India is far better affordable with just 300$ ... no water bills, no house insurance, no mortgages.... kids love their parents that's why they wanna be in their company ... just for pension it's not right... Moreover parents need to remember how busy they were when they were in rat race of life at their young age and same time their parents had needed their attention... but Noone remember their own time.. when you get retired it's so easy to forget everything... Bad thing about our indian culture is 'Old age is not meant for work' ... which is completely wrong... once you stop working you lost respect, youthfulness and just ready to attract negative thoughts all time...
You are absolutely right. The parents are kept for raising the grandchildren and their pensions. Once the children are grown up and their house has been paid off the the parents start getting abused. And this not everyone but a lot of parents go through.
