@@yandereSyndrome True that. There is absolute no public transport out here in the country rural areas. Even in town it's rare. We only have one older bus that goes around our small store/business area.
My husband served at a military base where he had no choice but to drive! His buddy who was driving him in was rescheduled and our bus service started at 7am which meant he would be 45 minutes late which is punishable! The bus ran every other hour stopping at 7p.m. We weren’t in walking distance and the weather conditions precluded walking because the temperature stayed in the 90’s and the nights were low 80’s! I missed the bus so I tried to walk home because there wouldn’t be another bus for almost two hours! I was also pregnant and even normally being in above average health routinely walking three to five miles daily at night and being a long distance runner. I ended up fainting in an elderly couples front yard who had a phone so old that it had a cloth cord and they didn’t speak English! I'm from Germany, quite honestly these drivers would probably die on the highway or create extremely dangerous accidents or situations. I do not think these people are mentally fit to lead a motor vehicle.
@Prairiedoggen I agree, maybe a minor driving test should be mandatory around retirement age, to see if they are still fit to drive. I know some really great drivers who are past 60 years old, but I've also seen some older folks with response time so bad they couldn't stop their vehicle fast enough to prevent an accident. I've also seen those that have vision to the point where they stop a good 5 cars away from the traffic light, it's just dangerous is all. I'm definitely not leaving us younger guys out of this either, I've seen plenty of younger people JUST as bad if not worse with their god dang phones always in their hand. I'll never understand how your social media profiles can be so important that it's worth risking the lives of others..
Lol what's the point of making Karlese go through this? She definitely needs help but more so psychologically. Plus, she's in her early sixties so she could just retire from driving.
Marlee’s is very brave and should be viewed as such because she is trying to conquer something that hurt her so much! She almost lost her leg 🦵! There might be a a situation where she has no choice such as needing to take someone to a doctor in an emergency! She also needs to do this to regain control of her life! She is not letting fear rule her in that even with the extreme fear she has not stopped driving! She just drives really slowly! And at least she’s trying plus she’s real! Farris needs more psychological help than eight episodes with Kamala! He needs a minimum of several years! I wonder if his mother was driving because that would explain the extreme anger he has against her! She talked about him losing his cousin but she didn’t state who was driving and in eight episodes she never said anything about it! Please talk about drunk drivers or distracted drivers being a victim of a road rage situation, adverse weather conditions! She never gave more than a bare bones sentence and most people would want to explain ,justify or condone their child’s anger rather than avoiding the issue by being a dishrag! Why does she not have a spine to be concerned about his anger when it first started which would have been when his cousin died right next to him!!!!
Darris is terrifying. You can tell he has experience saying exactly what he has to get out of any situation. The eyes communicate something else entirely.

If Brandon and Karlene are having panic attacks while driving, then their issues are a lot deeper than just bad driving. Especially poor Karlene. She's pushing herself way too hard; that's just going to make the anxiety worse.
When bad times come you’re supposed to be there for your partner. You said vows, good times and bad. That’s what’s wrong with people today. When times get tough they flee.
the person sent home next week should be Crying (purple hair), BUT for the first time ever sent home without her driver's license. She does not want to drive, she is unable to drive, every time she sits behind the wheel it is sheer torture, so why put her through this. Just send her home with a bus pass an move on. Driving is NOT a right nor should it be. Some people like her are not meant to drive, and that is fine.
You can feel bad all you want. It's heart-wrenching to watch, I feel the same way in that regard. But in order to improve, you have to deal with your fears. If you ask me, this is the best setting for her to do that. No one can get hurt here, they're on an open track with no curbs or traffic or pedestrians. If she wants to keep driving then she has to force herself to get through this. It's sad that she has gotten to such a low point, but that's what happens when you wait so long to deal with an issue/fear.
@@ThatFreakyTh1ng I agree this is the place for her to come to terms with her fears, I just believe that this means saying she should never drive ever again. The sooner she says this the sooner she can move on with her life without all the self-imposed fear she is going through now. Cause if I was a citizen of whatever community she lived in, I would be all over the police to have someone sit on her every day till she did not have a licence through points or judge, she is a danger to everyone an has no business on the roads, my family means more then her driving does.
@@ThatFreakyTh1ng I'm gonna disagree. That kind of fear isn't the "kid afraid of the dark" scenario we're all familiar with, but deep-rooted anxiety which isn't conducive to a "deal with your fears" strategy. Even in a controlled setting, that fear can arise because the trigger is the act of driving itself. That anxiety needs to be dealt with in a clinical setting rather than a TV show (even if there's a board-certified psychologist on staff.)
I kinda disagree, because those people are dangerous. We'll never know for sure, but I've gotta believe this show has saved lives, and that's one of the reasons why.
@@kingpin6989 Dangerous is exactly the reason they should not be allowed to drive until they can be calm and in control enough to learn and control the vehicle.
@@deaddu but I feel that by showing the applicants with psychological issues, they're helping people recognize that their mental problems could be affecting their driving and that their treatment could improve their driving. Lots of people with mental health problems do in fact drive in the real world, and I agree with @TheGr8stManEvr that showing the effects of neglecting mental health has probably encouraged people to seek treatment and saved lives.
Darris is genuinely scaring me in the drive around town conversation. He is showing all the signs of a sociopath who is trying to act the part of someone normal. There are the obvious signs, though, that he doesn't truly get it. He's clearly still getting the impulses of anger, but he's holding them back for the sake of showing off how much he's "changed." It's like a alcoholic trying to fake their way through AA meetings because they're just there for the courts to get off their backs. Also, the panic attack at 32:13, why doesn't anyone give her a hug?? She clearly needs it! She's freaking out, and the best thing you could do would be to help her calm down.
Regarding the panic attack, no one gave her a hug because sometimes, you need to learn to deal with/cope with stuff on your own. There will not always be someone there to hug you. Get treatment/ Therapy. Medication. Or turn in your driver's license and buy a bus pass.
Physical contact during a panic attack doesn't always help, especially if you don't know the person. Some people don't want to be touched in that state.
When I was younger and had panic attacks someone touching me would just make it worse. It was often caused by sensory overload, so adding more sensory input is very bad! Depends on the person though, but unless you know someone really well, best to just give them space.
Canada should definitely have a threshold for drivers license attempts. 10 attempts is mad. I live in South Africa and failed on my first driving license test, ~30m from finishing with a near perfect score because i did something stupid. I learnt from my mistakes, worked for 3 months on fixing my mistake, and passed the test the next possible time i got the opportunity to go. I understand cases like these. Failing 2 times even. But 10 is unacceptable. Even if a cooldown-period is allowed between attempts that would even be better. In South africa the 3 months i repracticed in wasn't a cooldown-period, but rather just how backlogged our systems for test appointments are 😂I just found this show. It's awesome.
Flash same thing for me. I failed for not signalling when pulling off the side of the road, practiced really hard for the next month, I went back and passed. I only took one written. In the us if you fail three times you have to wait like a year or more and get lessons before taking another test. Thank god.
You think 3 months is a bad backlog? In Ireland you wait 6months before you legally can book a test, then the backlog is 7 months. Then if you fail, well you have to wait another 7 months because of backlog 😂. So you'd better pass
@@clockman5472 Yes 3 months is bad. In some cities you can get it down to a week from booking. But here in my town , it's a quarter of the year at least. 7 months is long enough to get good in at least 😂
In Hungary we have a few attempts to complete the test after which there has to be a medical (probably mental) evaluation if someone IS fit to complete the test. Not sure if it is the rules&laws, the routine test .. it does not matter, one is the prerequisite of the other. And this just show how lax a few country's terms of driving (and licensing) is.
I'm sorry but I really want to punch Brandon.. I did drivers ed and my Instructor made me back up every time I had a lesson... now I drive for a living and constantly have to back up large pick up trucks and cargo vans without backup camera usually into tight spaces and I do fine, I'm not saying I'm the best driver ever, but backing up isn't that hard....
Not sure where you're from but in Canada they don't have to reverse at all during their drivers test. So instructors probably prioritise other stuff that they do need so they can't complain if they fail because they focused too much on "unnecessary" stuff.
@@P0wnage4life My drivers test had reversing in it as well as reversing into a spot, parallel parking (starting in reverse). @@mrflippy3578 more like... dumb people who found themselves behind the wheel of a car. To be considered a driver you would have to be able to operate it.
@Prairiedoggen That does sound slow. 100kmh is way more reasonable for that scenario. That's the speed I would at least go regardless of speed limit. I drive to the conditions not some trash generalized speed limit that is usually 15mph too low. Luckily I live in a city that has so much crime cops don't have much time to bother pulling over speeders. If they actually cared they would post up hella cops on I-240 and pull over 70% of the highway that is speeding by an average of 20mph.
Prairiedoggen artificially low speed limits are everywhere in Ontario. Here there’s random stretches of road with wide shoulders and few houses that are 60 sometimes 50 Km/h. And the minute anyone complains about a speed limit the municipal roads departments or the MTO immediately lower them. This of course does nothing to slow people down or make roads safer as people will drive whatever speed they feel is safe. We’ve basically allowed NIMBYs to dictate our speed limits and it’s made them stupid low. Want people to slow down? Redesign the road for a lower speed. No matter the signs or photo radars you put up, if a road is designed for 80 people will go 80.
Glad they didn't let Darris graduate. I don't think he wants help either. He would benefit greatly from staying on the show. Hopefully, he's not going to continue to act like Krystal from Season 12.
+Bad Drivers of Moose Jaw I do think that he will benefit from more rehab, but I also kind of feel bad for him, because he is clearly a broken man from a broken family. What wouldn't surprise me is if he were to eventually be clinically discharged from the show...
@@Armor23OnPatrol Exactly. Darris can drive safely. He just overloads the car with a lot of emotional luggage. His biggest challenge will be to find a way to let go of all of that.
I seriously think karlene has some serious PTSD from being hit, she gets so upset and terrified when she drives that it looks like shes re-living her trauma over and over again every time she drives. She needs serious help edit: For the part where brandon has a panic attack. DONT YELL AT SOMEONE HAVING A PANIC ATTACK. Speak to them calmly, and try to gently reassure them. Sorry but yelling at someone who’s panicking will ONLY make things worse. You can’t make someone “snap out” of a panic attack. Just help them go through it, and be gentle. Sorry for ranting but that part really bugged me lol
Karlenes husband looks so dead inside its unbelivable, all the other partners are constantly talking, arguing, informing the driver about stuff they missed, but this guy, he just sits there dead inside
Brittany after 20 crashes still did not figure out what she was doing wrong,,,WOW. Shes very dangerous, this is the kind of person that would hit a pedestrian and not know they did, simply because they are always distracted by everything else going on around them.
I can understand Karlene's struggle to a point. I was in a nearly fatal car accident when I was fourteen that left me blind in one eye, and I was in the passenger seat. It took me 8 years, multiple tries, and an incredible support system to overcome the anxiety that I felt everytime I got into a car. But after a lot of hard work I did it. I got my license 7 months ago, and I'm proud to say that I'm doing okay with it. There's bad days, but I always remind myself that I'm okay, in control, and safe. I feel like she badly needs some possible therapy for her anxiety. I hope that she overcomes it.
That is the cause for having abusive parents... All abusive parents should be condemned from raising children. All adults with a toxic lifestyle should be forcefully sterilized and not be allowed to reproduce. PROBLEM SOLVED! 😊
I feel so bad for Karlene's husband, he seems so sad and wants to help her, but is also clearly emotional and entails drained because of is wife problem. if it's that serious, don't drive.
Man, was this an episode. Keeping Darris around is definitely the right thing to do for now. It is clear he is a broken man from an equally broken family, and to a certain extent, I feel bad for him. When it comes to the worst, I still think Brandon has some serious anger problems, but for now, I think Alexis might have him beat for worst driver thus far. And Karlene looks like she is going to require A LOT of work, but I am still pulling for her.
Well I feel a little like Alexis but I drive way to slow, I force people to pass me, constantly texting, hitting things :D I'm so bad but hey at least I know it. On the other hand I'm like Brandon if we talk about incidents ^^ I ain't getting worse or better so that's ok
"Some people drink, some people smoke, some people do drugs and i wreck cars HAHAHAHA". Drinking, smoking and drugs are self inflicted (for the most part). Crashing cars is harmful to others. Laugh it up.
Bro....Karlene's poor husband. I feel bad for Karlene, but she really really really needs mental help a LONG time ago. But, you can tell her emotional state is taking a huge toll on her husbands. I think it would be best for him to leave her so she is not so codependent on him as well.
Heck, if your really in a situation where you think it's impossible to not hit anything (say two cars parked way to close and you can't get out), there's still a solution: just don't move!
Andrew ducks when he goes through the eye of the needle. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I duck like him going under overpasses. My father (RIP) told me when I was 5 years old that we were too high to go under an overpass so we had to duck. I was an idiot and here, 50 years later, I still do it. LOL
yeah same, she drives alright but when there's something where she needs to react on she just panicks and well, if you don't feel good when you're driving then it's nearly impossible
Darris's mother shouldn't even DARE try and hide that she has a son in prison. She's so selfish to say I don't think this was a problem. HER SON WATCHED HIS COUSIN DIE IN FRONT OF HIM AND HIS BROTHER IS IN PRISON!
Why do they have a drivers license??? I’m from Germany and I thought some of our driver are bad but when I’m seeing this I’m glad they don’t drive in Germany imaging that they are able to drive 200 km/h :D. Why aren’t they able to reverse its mandatory here in order to get the license and its sooo easy
@@AlexR-ATG I have a feeling they were talking off camera and someone brought up his golf shirts and he ended up saying how many they had. That's why they probably decided to do his intro like that.
It amazes me how Canada is not worried about all the mental health issues of its people and claims to be such a progressed nation. So many serious mental health issues on this show. Dangerous people.
Stop bringing brand-new vehicles on this show, especially the mustang gt. Henry Ford is crying in his grave for Ford's that were destroyed on this show.
Lady with the purple hair should really not be driving at all. Too much panicking and getting panic attacks is not good and she should have her license taken away forever. Stressing me tf out. 😤😤
Darris has some major sociopathic tendencies. Like when talking to the pros he acted all smart and nice. They didn’t buy it and he came clean, he’s obviously only there to manipulate his mother into getting another car or whatever. And then talking to the therapist he used so much charm and got “emotional”. Was once again called out for not telling the truth and he goes oh ok why? Like he wanted to hear why she was wrong. Gets told change doesn’t happen this quick and then agrees and kinda praises her going youre right. Then the smirk at the end pushed it right over the top
None of these people deserve the privilege of being in possession of a drivers licence. And they are way beyond rehabilitation. Maybe it's about time Canada instituted a three strike rule... after three at fault accidents your licence is revoked for life, and you are banned from getting car insurance. It's time to take a stance and get the dangerous drivers off of the roads!
But then how would they make money from these drivers renewing their license and paying traffic tickets? Government will never block themselves from making profit.
There are multiple scenarios where you could be blamed for an accident automatically if there isnt sufficient evidence proving otherwise. For example, a driver randomly and suddenly stopping to attempt to commit insurance fraud may simply lie and say there were cars in front of him when there weren't, and that would affect the driver that hits him/her. If the driver that crashes onto the car doesn't have a dash cam to prove his/her innocence, that person is found responsible and would be screwed if insurance scams ran rampant and it happened two more times.
I'm Norwegian, and I love this show, we dont have a show like this in Norway, but I doubt we realy need it not sure. The driving education is much more demanding here. I feel for Brandon. I have generalized anxiety disorder, I developed some ways to cope as I grew up, and 5 years back started on a medication that helps a lot. Of course the effects, and severity of any illness very from peron to person, but I swear, looking at Brandon is like looking at a younger me with a Y chromosome. I'm 33, and have never driven, I wouldn't have wanted to be put in a position where I felt I needed to when going through that.
damn they are horrible.. and darris is a bomb ready to explode.. we do have this same show here in Finland called "suomen surkein kuski" and there has been horrible drivers too, even that our driving license is ridiculously long, expensive and hard to get. just as a side note, there is 2 main steps to having your permanent license here. 1. phase: after you get through driving test (includes minimum of 4 theory hours, minimum of 10 driving hours) and and written test, you get 2 years to finish the phase 2 or you loose your license. phase 2. you need to go to have a night driving test and slippery track test. your normal car driving license becomes invalid after every 15 years if you dont go back to drivingschool. in truck licenses it's 5 years. this last one is a new law that we all dont appreciate too much.. thanks EU.
When I first met my driving instructor I told him right away "I have $3,000 teach me everything I need to know to be a good driver" What did I get out of it? I got every law drilled into me, every driving situation drilled into me, every manoeuvre drilled into me, defensive driving techniques drilled into me and a full pass on my own merit. If you don't have those things drilled into you when you learn to drive then new laws will blindside you and by your handbook it will state "laws may change at any time, it is up to the licence holder to keep up to date with the laws" and that is the most important condition... yes the turn may be clear because it's a green light but we all know... it takes one dumbass to create carnage
what doesn't make sense is that many of these drivers have wasted more money on insurance premiums because they weren't taught about the proper way of driving and what sucks even more is that most of the drivers on the road don't have any idea what they are doing. Saying I wasted my money when mosst of Canada's education system is wasting so much more "learn how to cross stitch for hundreds, no thousands" and that you don't learn for daily use... I'm more disappointed in the face that nobody even work on their skills anymore "I have my entitlement card, I be good at thingy nao! GL everybody else on black thing" In Australia you pieces of shits won't even pass our theories... yes we have 10+100 theory, 10 random give way questions where you need 100% to pass and 100 random multiple choice questions where you need 85% to pass. On top of that you will be stuck on learners for 6-12 months minimum, 6 if over 25, 12 months if between 16.5-24...120 hours including 20 hours of night driving, if you accumulate more than 4 points (3 points for failing to give way for an example) you are suspended for 6 months.
Doing defensive driving lessons yes but spending 3 grand to get your driver license that is just nuts. I didn't even spend over a grand to get my driver license.
Once again I'm so so so thankful for having had my drivers lessons in Germany... it's amazing (and shocking) what differences between various countries there are
When I was learning to drive a friend of the family took me out in an empty parking lot and we practiced reversing for like an hour, I practiced accelerating and slowing, turning in reverse, even doing figure 8s in reverse, it really helped me get comfortable with my car and with driving in general, highly recommend doing something similar
my dad did things like make me start in a bus lane, smacked the car when I needed to go up a gear, made me stall in front of a lorry etc lol, after that I could only rely on my driving instructor to teach me lol
Darris 's mom is shameful. she raised some pretty fu*cked up kids and had babies with a bad man ontop of that. Also that woman that got into that wreck with her kid in the car... and still drives recklessly knowing what happened 🤦🏾♀️
Darris is putting up a face. He is doing what I do when my parents ask me if I feel bad after I would eat ice cream at night. I would say that "Yeah, I feel bad and I promise I won't do it again." And he talks like what I write on the essays.
Before I get to point #6, let me get points #1 to #5 out of the way briefly: 1) Karlene reminds me of Lou and Daniella combined. She looks like she wants to change, she just needs a lot more help. Her issues seem deep. I do think she may be the next graduate in like several episodes from now though, she is slowly but surely trying and making progress. 👍😀 2) Alexis is Chanie is every aspect. How she was unfocused throughout the entire episode, she is looking like Chanie in every big way. Even her complaining is Chanie styled. Someone should get Chanie (and Jeremy her nominator) to this group and get Chanie in on this season. 3) Brittany isn't nearly as skilled as Lauri in Season 7 to tell you the truth. So glad she had to do the challenges with the dog doll on her neck though! 4) Descy is a bit too impatient. I find she is rushing things (similar to Julie from S13). But I still have some hope for Descy too. 5) Brandon may take a bit of work to do too. I really hope he finds a way to seek more help. I think he needs to be able to focus too and not want to give up. He should fare better than S11's Jordan though! And now for the 6th point worth an essay: 6) My attitude for Darris has taken a drop down. If I didn't hate him before, I hate him now. HOW DARE HE DISRESPECT TIM DANTER LIKE THAT?!? "I don't like you Tim Danter"... Like grow up. I also hate him for disrespecting the Judges. Oh and "I'm my brother's keeper" is the icing on the cake. I almost screamed at my school's cafe at Darris over my phone screen (by the grace of God, I didn't). His mom looks scared for her life. I think he and his brother should both be in prison. I just hate him so much at this time. I could also opt him to take Mitchell's place too in S11, Darris deserves the verbal tyrade that Jillian gave back then (but I still love and consider you the best turn around story though Jill :D). That is my take on Episode 2 this season.
I found it most amusing that he told Tim he thought he was too confrontational, and Tim let it slide. Not just for the irony because obviously Darris is as confrontational as they come, but it felt like Darris was looking for a reason to justify himself getting aggressive and Tim by being non-confrontational didn't provide that and probably kept Darris from 'hulking up' and becoming angry on the road. I also think they let Joe go a couple of years ago despite a fairly unconvincing "I've changed" story, but while Joe was an aggressive driver, he was at least in control when he was driving like that, while Darris seems like far too much of a loose cannon for them to graduate in the same way.
Darris needs help and you want to throw him under the bus... for a guy like him his words cannot be taken seriously. He needs help not prison and once he opens up for it then he will change. He needs to be 'worked on' off camera a lot
@@siddkumar8032 ya but only if he actually wants help which far as we've seen so far doesn't seem to be the case, he's just doing whatever he needs to get by but not actually changing.
The Mustang name was an homage to the P-51 aircraft, although the only connection between the two was a Ford designer who just really liked the aircraft. For the 2015 model year - the 50th production year of the car - Ford put in a lot of aviation-related quirks. The avionics-like toggle switches on the center console and "wing like" dashboard lines are more subtle. The complementary "airsick bag" in the glove compartment is a cute joke and easily discarded. The "GROUND SPEED" is painted onto the speedometer and the designers either didn't realize it would age badly or didn't care. It's a bit cringey.
