The most important lesson that I have learned as Prime Minister is that we really do not know what kind of challenges we will face together in the future. One example of this is the global financial crisis that we were forced to respond to several years ago. The actions of the Canadian government in response to the financial crisis did more harm than good. We all would be better off if they had done nothing at all. Stephen Harper did us all a disservice by backing down when the opposition threatened to topple him over that inaction in 2008.

Come to think of it, you also need to expand the ICU ward in every hospital. You can't just put an ICU bed in the hallway, it has to be in proximity to power (for the ventilator) AND it has to be very far away from the bulk of the rest of the hospital's patients. Guess you didn't consider that...

Just for the sake of disclosure, while I'm temperamentally and ideologically conservative, I myself voted Liberal this time around solely because of their promised tax-sheltered $40,000 First Home Savings Accounts, because I have a personal stake in this. But that's just a one-off thing. The coming years, I'll probably go back to voting for whoever's tougher on crime (I live in Montreal) and doesn't annoy us too much with that equity stuff.

wow, so little changed but at the same time it's kind of what i expected, O'toole was more moderate so he won more ridings in the Left-wing east while losing roughly tha same amount in the more right-wing west. And politics in quebec have not changed since 2019 so it makes sense nothing changed there.

@@FazeParticles I don't think that's the Conservatives problem here cause if you actually look at the popular vote judging what a lot of people have been saying they actually had more people vote for the Conservatives then the Liberals just like in 2019 (Only in 2019 you had Conservatives voting for 2 different candidates which was a recipe for disaster.) and that's with the Peoples Party taking votes from the Conservatives.

@@theendangeredcatcoon9554 Conservative party should have made sure that some of their votes didn't go to PPC. It's their problem. Also , the problem with conservatives is THAT , their vote is scattered and not dominated by major areas where there can be a bulk vote. Alberta and others are small areas with less seats. What they should do is while retaining Alberta , they should make the party more appealing , more grounded in other regions. Unless they make a dent in Quebec , Ontario nothing can happen with them.

Same old same old. Canada gets the goldilocks vote again. The NDP are too far left and the Conservatives are too far right so we are stuck with the Liberals that are also too far left but still better than the Conservatives. Canadians want and deserve a centrist government and it is sad that it isn't anywhere in sight.

@Tristan Leah Perhaps Tristan but the rest of the worlds political beliefs are really not that relevant in Canada or even North America for that matter, Fiscal conservatism with social responsibility is where the center is. In order for Canada's democracy to work each parties perspective must be respected and considered through negotiation when legislation is created. For any party to take the position that it is my way or nothing at all is ridiculous and produces laws and policies that do not fit the country as a whole.

The NDP are barely left and the Conservatives had their most moderate ever in this election. The only one more extreme than usually was the liberals moving from historically centrist to centre left under Trudeau, but for the NDP and Conservatives it’s never been better.

@@darkbrightnorth I find it somewhat amaing that you perceive the so called Conservatives as moderate. Pierre has made many statements that clearly define the CPC policy as both radical and extremist. He is a Libertarian from the Reform party and so was Harper. The moderate conservatives died with the PC/Alliance merger in 2003. I will give you however that Trudeau is a radical left as Pierre is radical right. Trudeau is a full on socialist and that will be his demise because Canadians are clearly centrist voters.
