I'd like to point out that Juno Beach was the second toughest beach to take during the invasion. Omaha was the first but to say that Juno wasn't even close is a bit of an exageration
He said it wasn't close devastation wise, not necessarily difficulty wise. I mean, the Americans lost 2,500 soldiers on Omaha Beach while the Canadians lost less than 350, that is, not even close. Now the Juno landing force was smaller, so you have to take that into account as well.
Lion24 Correct, that includes both KIA and WIA. I was just speaking of KIA numbers for both sides. That being said, 4,700 became casualties on Omaha Beach. Might be a bit shitty to compare rates like these, yet we're comparing lol.
Lion24 4,700 is apparently the combined wounded+killed for Omaha. Killed alone is officially is 2,499. When I said "lost" I meant killed. I apologize for the confusion.
Juno beach: 14000 soldiers, 1200 casualties = 8.5% casualty rate Omaha: 43250 soldiers, 3686 casualties = 8.5% casualty rate I did the math and Juno is like 8.57 while Omaha is 8.52 but it dosent really matter. Both where hard and saying one was easier is quite disrespectful imo.
I know its a lot to ask and NOT historically accurate...but Battle of the Reichstag? Like, a bunch of Russian infantry and T-34-85 and 1 or 2 IS2's. ...And the Russians have to try fighting hard through heavy german fortifications defended by elite SS in black uniforms with gas masks, AT guns, artillery, and a couple of Tiger 2's and halftracks. The BOSS battle would be when the Russians are getting close to right outside the Reichstag's steps and pillars; A a MAUS shows up and starts wrecking HAVOC. The Russians have to defeat the MAUS before they can progress inside the Reichstag. Pls Dplex? (edit: Use ROBZ) (Edit 2: T34-85's are a lot more powerful than standard one's. There would only need to be about 8 of them at least. ...Also have at least 1 KV2)
Natalialeaf2001 in ww2 there was 1.1 million Canadians in different branches of the military and this Finns kicked the shit out of the Russians with 250k men 32 tanks and 113 planes well stopped them from invading just saying
Natalialeaf2001 fair enough I was thinking in terms of ww2 since this was ww2 scenario. I know the original post said Russia but USSR and Russia are the same country just different governments(from most people's point of view). also I agree Canada vs USSR or maybe Finland vs USSR would be cool in the snow.
Speaking of great Canadian battles of WWII, do one for Private Leo Major. He liberated an entire Dutch city from German occupation... single handed. No tanks, no support. Just him, three machine guns and a sack full of grenades forced an entire German garrison to retreat haha. Frigging epic.
Juno beach had the heaviest defences out of all the beaches. The reason they didn't take as many casualties as the americans was because the beach was longer and the naval bombing left nothing but smoke. You can't shoot what you can't see. Also they only brought 1 tank. The other 4 that were sent out sank
In my opinion as a Canadian I find this videos outcome a little disturbing. Dip killed off most of the Canadians and failed to flush out German defenders. Casualties of his battle were 200 Canadians to 92 Germans. In real life Canada was the boss of the Invasion taking more objectives than all of its competitors while pushing the Germans back farther than others. I find that his aggressive battle style was a waste of Canadian values and pride. : ( For comparison to my facts I listed the Casualties of all beaches. Juno: 1465 men killed, missing or taken prisoner. Utah: 3397 Including Paratroops Omaha: 2157 Gold: 1100 (Rough recording) Sword: 683 If you are wondering, yes I am a history nerd with a strong allegiance to Canada!
Yhea but canadian did the major part major battle like the poket kf faillaise were more than 250000 german soldier And it proven that Canadian soldier were the best soldier Churchill say if i have american equipement british officer and canadian soldier he would conquer the world
I have only one thing to say that i noticed in that battle and that is the fact that those were WWI canadians not WWII because they were using the WWI helmets and rifles
Juno was one of the most heavily defended sectors and was one of the biggest sectors Canada also advanced further inland than any one else by the end of d-day
Hell they didn't even look like Canadians they looked like British soldiers with their flag, not even on the bodies only on the place where you see there name.
For us canadian’s Juno beach was absolutely chaos🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦oh Canada i don’t know the word’s🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶 but thx for representing canadian’s move up the beaches! GoGoGo!
My respect for shedding some light on the Canadians on D-Day. Whenever I watch a documentary on D-Day they always say, Britain, USA, Britain, USA. No one realizes that on D-Day Canada not only had their own beach to overtake, but also pushed farther into Nazi held territory in that first 24-hours than the British or USA beaches. Also entered the war over 2 years before USA. I’d just appreciate some credit. My late grandfather was in the Canadian Navy during WW2. Had nightmares on and off about the war until his death.
Rest in peace, Daniel Campbell. The soldier who had killed 35 german soldiers by defending Monte Saint or something (Forgot). Anyways, good luck for the Canadians entering Fuhrerland. It could get deadly, good video btw.
is it necessary to upload your video on youtube with 1080 P and 60 FPS ? it could be better with 1080 p ONLY ? or is it possible to watch your videos without the 60 FPS on RU-vid ?
Hey!) Can you tell me where did you find that effect (addon), when the shell hits Sherman combat,at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z987GU0S8x8.html , it looks very realistic and pretty cool!
Lol next time you address Canadians we prefer" Beer drinking hockey playing animals" or somthing to that effect. Love these videos tho, I think you do a great job
This isn't related to Men of War, but Diplex really needs to try the new Born To Kill: Vietnam mod for Day of Infamy. Had a blast with it last night. That game is so fun.
Nice to see you unabashedly playing for a change. It'd be cool to see multiplayer historical battles. Like that battle of Kursk game you did not long ago but with one person controlling each side a la Total War. I like watching the AI smash into each other as much as the next guy, but it's nice to see some actual tactics and strategy, the battle of wits if you will, as well.
Diplex how cool would it be to make a World war z Jerusalem scene where they just climb the wall if that is possible in this game?Would love to see that
Hey Diplex it would be awesome if you could to star wars galaxy at war battle at point rain its a episode from star wars the clone wars its the second invasion of geonosis. thank you
My great grandfather was.at Juno and he was shot twice and managed to make it threw the battle and save 3 of his friends in the process he proceeded to contiue threw the war right till the last days he was in a few battles before as well he joined the military before the war even started so he was in it from the beginning he would of been at dieppe but he was vary sick at the time and couldn't even get out of bed without puking
Diplex please dont shoot for the tanks when i see this i actually dont whana see this episode and some other people will see this as me because i actually know who is winning when you too this. ps:sorry when my english is bad im german
