cause hetro people could catch "THE GAY!!!" *lightning flashes and Thunder Crashes*. Oh and already gay people might mutate and make an aura of gay slowly turning all of us gay *The music that when something horrible and surprising happens*. And remember Kids ignorance and fear keep us all safe!

Max Power This is a parody but the actual reason is that gay men are at higher risk of hiv. It's ridiculous though because they screen all donations for hiv anyway, and plenty of gay men are perfectly safe in their practices.

I know it is a parody, of a real policy. As I understand the fear is that the virus will slip past detection and we will infect people (again). I do not think that statistically the risk is substantial enough to not accept blood form people based on sexual orientation if they have had sex in the past year. Thanks for making sure I knew is was a parody.

Good thing the only appropriate answer to the question "have you had sex with another man in the last 12 months" on an official document is "none of your damn business".
