I have a 2003 Ford Ranger (In Canada). Last week I replaced all shocks, upper/lower control arms, bushings, tie rods, ball joints and stabilizer links. EVERYTHING needed to be heated till it was nearly glowing before it would even hint at coming lose. Took an entire day to do each side, only because of the fight each fastener gave me. It was super fun removing the torsion bars from the lower control arms. Got out Mr. Grindy and cut the arms in half, no way they were moving otherwise.

Father-in-law who lived in the Northeast rust-belt used to spray the bottom of his cars every fall with used motor oil and the inside of the doors with used ATF. When I finally inherited his 1951 Pontiac, I spent hours under the car scraping off the 1/2" agglomeration of dirt and oil. Underneath was the oriinal factory paint and the black chassis paint.

Ray, you're lucky you don't have to deal with road salt, as it is a death knell to vehicles. Up here in Eastern Ontario, Canada, it is currently 3 degrees C or about 38 degrees F. I had to get rid of my 2003 4.8 Litre Silverado last year as rust had overcome my attempts to keep the truck alive. Bought her in 2007 when she was 4 years old, pretty good that she lasted that long. I used rubberized undercoating to help prevent corrosion...absolutely the worst stuff to use as water gets underneath it and just eats up anything metal. I had no choice but to purchase a new vehicle, a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, which I just love and is way cheaper at the gas station to fill and superior in the snow to my old Silverado. Got her oil sprayed just after I purchased her. I miss the old truck sometimes, for hauling stuff, and just for the brute force of the mighty LS engine💪😊 Have a great weekend, my friend.

He did a video on that rust bucket. It's not something that any rational being needs to get involved in if you are running a shop. A restoration shop, donor body and vast amounts of money and time are what's needed.

Great I like seeing someone working hard. It makes me think I am accomplishing something sitting on my ass watching a video. I might learn something.

I think if I were the customer I might run the A/C the way it is since it seems to have a leak and it’s winter. Run it until it gets hottish again to see if it cools and/or loses the refrigerant charge again. Looking at the rust on the compressor clutch, I’d say there’s a good chance the refrigerant leak is at the shaft seal on the compressor. Changing the compressor would more than likely fix the leak and increase system performance with one replaced part.

Another great video. I had a 2012 Sierra from Canada that I purchased in Colorado in 2016 with no body rust adjust son surface rust on ther frame which was easily blasted off. Gauges were US. The way I found your channel 1 1/2 years ago was looking at Mt my ABS light problems! All my sensors were good! Found an easy repair on RU-vid by removing the top of ABS module and resoldering on the inside! With a lift It's easy. That module is expensive!

That’s not that rusty. As a Canadian living up in the far North driving actual old vehicles I think that you are totally spoiled. I got some cars that make that look new. 😂 great job as always.

I swear the AC Pressure Taps he connected Hoses to are the same line hence getting the same Pressures!! I will watch the rest of video to see if Ray catches it!! Well after watching rest of Video when he recharged system he got pressure differential on lines.. I am confused or Blind!! LOL. Love your videos Ray!!

The metering tube is inside of the line between the connections. It’s supposed to have a pressure differential. Great observation!

Yeah another comment is about why the 2 service ports are on the same line... Orifice tube setup between them😅 Vs an expansion valve setup
@walterharris1814
@walterharris1814 8 месяцев назад
Ray, thanks for the explanation!! I had not thought about that setup. Just use to seeing Service Ports on different lines. Low or Suction Pressure are usually taken after passing through Evap Coil.
