Looks like a good week of meals, your grocery choices this week looked great. It's hard to believe it's already Easter week. We are staying home, and my daughter and her family are coming here for lunch. We've decided to order dinner from a BBQ place family style and eat at the house, it will be easier with the baby who right now doesn't have much tolerance for sitting in a restaurant for the length of an adult meal. Still not 100% better but hopefully heading in the right direction. Hope you are all well and enjoying the kids at home when they are free for Easter break. Happy Easter Lindsay, Dave, Jacob, Ben, Audrey and Emily!

Thanks, Tania. Bbq for Easter sounds delicious. We'll be having turkey dinner at my moms with my sister (I only have one that lives local) and we'll have dinner with Dave's family at a later date. I'm glad your starting to feel better, I hope it continues! Hope you all have a wonderful, healthy Easter. 🐰❤️

Yes, prices just keep going up and up. One of my friends works for a local food pantry here. He said it’s crazy to see how many people have to rely on the pantries now just to meet basic needs. They used to be able to give each person a large box of food but now, it’s a small box because the need is greater and the donations are fewer. It’s sad that something that is a necessary part of life is such a struggle for soo many families. We donate to as many as we can but our donations don’t even put a small dent in the need. Great haul this week. I hope you and your family have a very Happy Easter.

It's sad how much people are struggling just to make ends meet. I'm not sure how much more people can take, something needs to give. I hope you're having a good week. Have a lovely Easter. 🐰❤️

Lindsay, I believe the Superstore follows the scanning code of practice, so if there is a descrepancy between the price on the shelf and the scanned price, then it's free for you if it is under $10. I have caught this a few times when shopping at the Superstore. It pays to watch that. If you're going back for your cottage cheese, take your receipt and walk back to the rice section and check the price. Have a nice Easter!

Prices definitely keep going up! Hope your family has a great Easter! Before covid I could get by for about $125-150 most weeks for groceries and household items.. now I’m lucky if it’s under $250 a week for my family of 4.

Thanks, Brandie. We had a great Easter. Carbon tax comes into effect starting tomorrow here, so things will get even worse. Don't know how people will do it. Hope you had a wonderful Easter! 🐰🐣

@@mominthemaritimes what is carbon tax? I’ve never heard of that
@mominthemaritimes
@mominthemaritimes 5 месяцев назад
@@brandierhoades4696 it goes into effect today here, and people are not happy. It's an additional tax placed on fossil fuels. As if things weren't hard enough financially for people. 😔

Yeah I’m in Edmonton and I’m sure prices are going up on occasion on certain things. I mostly notice on things I buy regularly. I mostly shop at Sobeys, Costco, and a local year round farmers market. I just have to shop for myself and I think I average $100 every 10-14 days at Sobeys. Costco and farmers market varies, I don’t even pay attention. I don’t know how large families like yours do it. We pay a lot for everything in Canada.

You're so right, we pay alot for everything. If it was just groceries it would be one thing, but it's fuel, food, power bills, interest rates, it's coming at all angles. Now that carbon tax will be coming into effect, I'm getting worried. They're sure making it hard for people. Enjoy the rest of your week! 😊

Prices are definitely still going up here too. I popped into No Frills yesterday to pick up a few things. Our cats food has gone up to $1.00 a can. Three years ago you could get it on sale for .50 cents a can. No more!

I've noticed so many items too, Robin. It's pathetic, alot of items are jumping up a whole dollar. It adds up quick. The new "sale" price is higher than what the old regular price used to be. Hopefully something changes soon. I hope you're having a great week. Happy Easter. 😊

$6.50 for a pound of butter and $14 for a ring of sausage. Wow. I have to remind myself wages are different, taxes are and other things and yet some prices are fairly in there the same as ours or at least near such at the stores that aren't the absolute cheapest on prices. The things that are like 2 for $5 and those kinds of things. Burger is fair priced. Milk high as are eggs. But again, different countries, wages, prices but it kind of blows my mind that some are similar in price but then here come things that are outrageously high. I pay $2.66 for a gallon of milk, even chocolate. $2 for a dozen eggs and that is actually up in price from what they were. Your cheese prices seem comparable or at least fair so it's not all dairy for sure and it's not alll meat as your burger is fair but your kielbasa price is ridiculous lol. Just given some comparisons... I'm in a bordering state to Canada although not to Nova Scotia. Our butter is $3 a pound and I think that's high actually...It does go on at times for less. Our meat prices are high for much of it. I mean for decent burger it would not be unusual to pay $5 to $6 a pound. But I don't think I could find a ring of sausage for $14 if I tried, even for high priced butcher shop sausage, seriously, that's outrageous. Chicken is up, used to be the cheapest of meats but yours on that is higher than ours. Just giving some comparisons but down here it does vary to even state to state. But some prices just shock me. The sausage for instance. it is comparing apples to oranges I get it because again different wages, taxes, services, etc. I find it interesting though... And feel that sausage must be a luxury item lol.

You actually at the end mention rising prices and mention Doritos specifically. I realize this video is months ago but responding anyhow. Doritos here are like $5 a bag if not on sale. Most Frito Lay products are, all probably. Bag size is also smaller, that's thing they do, price up bag smaller. What's worse though has anyone not noticed they have NO flavor any longer to speak of? Every so often I'd indulge in a bag, I don't typically buy things that pricey, expect a rare treat, and they aren't one any longer. And it's not just those chips, and not just that brand. Seasonings are far less, quality is way down as to taste of the chip and more. i only buy the spicy Doriots now to get ANY flavor and even then, I rarely indulge and find them NOT WORTH IT. i thought it was my taste buds at first but daughter says the same.
