Back in Gold Prospecting School many years ago, one of the instructors got super excited when he heard that the Lost Lemon Mine had been found. This was around 1999. Has anyone ever heard about it being found around this time?
How could a mystery in history be on a map and how could it be in plain sight when it was the history in the mystery that the story is brought to light a little glimpse of yesterday at the pioneers of time and if you embrace the history, it draws a straight line Histories mystery of riches on tap and with a little history there is no mystery to the map
The spot that everyone is looking for the lost lemon mine is on the continental divide just south of Mount Assiniboine. This was the pass that the two minors blackjack and dancing Bill Lathem we’re heading for after being guided by a group of stony Indians, the Indians guided them to hear because they were on their way to the great potlatch Held at the base of Mount Assiniboine. This was the birthplace of the Stoney people this potlatch had been going on for hundreds of years at this spot. The potlatch was never ever held again after the year 1869 this was the sacred valley. this place did not have a name in 1869 it was not given a name until 1917 when the little lake and the mountain at the pass would be named after General lemon of Belgium. It was not until the 1940s when Senator Dan Reilly would tell the original story to Hugh Dempsey and Ron Stewart, it was him that would name the place lemon after the name it had taken on. He is the one who removed the name dancing Bill Lathem from the story. This is why we call it the lost lemon mine. The events in the story actually occurred as I was told by 100 year old native woman early in the 1990s when I began researching this story and I knew that they were going to use a shortcut into the Kootenay valley. Tobacco plains is just south. If you want to know more about the true history story of the lost lemon mine, then you can contact me.
soo the "mine" isnt actually a mine like we think of. its an old firstnations tale iv been told that it was just a steep cliff face insane amounts of quarts+ gold you can pick up like stones. NOT flower gold. just something i thought id share :)
Probably, the flower gold is a by-product of the original vein. It’s always usually an indicator to show you the source of the mother load is deteriorating in the same area!!!!
The flour gold comes from the glaciers grinding Alberta to dust time and time again. Check out, The scenic geology of Alberta: informing the public. Channel name- university of Alberta geotechnical centre
