As a Canadian, I had no idea that one of my best friends growing up was American (her parents were imported by a nearby university) until one day I asked if she knew what time it was and she said, "Quarter of four." It stopped me in my tracks because I didn't get the joke. Cautiously I tried, "You mean, it's only one o'clock?" And we just stood there for a while, mutually perplexed. Good times. 😁

When I was at university, I did a work-study program helping out in the sports medicine room on campus. One day, a few sportsball players (probably football, but I don't remember) came in and were talking about how much weight they lifted at the gym. One of them was English, and he said, "I lifted [some number of] KGs". The other guy looks at him for a second, then goes, "You're in America now, we don't do KGs, we do LBs." It took everything in me not to lose my shit laughing.

6:41 Actually at the same unit of measurement, it is colder on the Celsius scale than it is on the Fahrenheit scale. At least in the case that she was cooking, other than that "-40 degrees" is the same temperature both on F and C. For anything below -40 degrees C is warmer then F. So it should have been not burnt but undercooked.
@daniellysohirka5079
@daniellysohirka5079 2 года назад
Your wrong, because 400 F equals around 204.4 C, Then 400 C is equal to 752 F. But it does get colder in F after the -40 mark, but gets warmer up from there. Each Celcius is (1.8F) either way from -40.

Nerd here: The joke at 6:41 only works the other way around (if you think the oven is F but its graded in celcius). If she thought the oven was in celcius, regular cooking temps in celcius would be 80-240. None of these settings in an F graded oven would burn the food. It would just be undercooked. My guess to keep the comedy realistic is that she just messed it up and had to put that as an excuse assuming nobody would find out. If I were there I would have immediately called her out for the fun so she admits guilt but I wasn't. So to my fellow americans, think twice before turning a foreign oven to 425. (Although you should be safe, no oven has this temp in celcius anyway). The only thing at risk would be lower temp cooking stuff such as bread and cakes. Like if they bake at around 200F, 200 C would just kill 'em XD.

I loved Harvey’s! And their orange trays! I think the best was when Robin went to a Canadian Tim Hortons and was confused for an American-no please or thank you! Reminds me of when I came home from school and I talked to my roommate who exclaimed “you sound like such a yank, eh!” Over 25 years later, she still teases me 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

i never knew how many jokes have been changed in the german dub of the series until now, since all those metric unit jokes don't work in civilized countries. xD

I may be being dumb, but I’m English so also use celsius, shouldn’t all the food be undercooked?? If you put a celsius heat on a fahrenheit oven it would be colder than expected right?? Fahrenheit numbers are higher than celsius

Personally I LOVE Canadian stereotypes. I find them hilarious, especially because most are true (Tim Hortons and Hockey for life). HOWEVER the one thing that bothers me is what people think our “accents” sound like. We. Do. NOT. Talk. Like. That. We do not say “aboot”. We don’t have a weird southern,drunk mix sounding voices. Like I hate when people talk what they think weslund like. We do say Eh sometimes tho 😂

Anything with Robin is my favorite. Was shocked to see a Canadian in the Avengers movies, but hey affirmative action is required I guess.

it actually makes no sense :D If she thought the oven was in Celsius, she wouldve baked it at a much lower temperature in Fahrenheit :D

I'm currently going through the process of relocating to Canada, I have one question for anyone who can help me. What is the best dark beer (I believe you also call it a stout beer)? Thank you! :)

If she had really been from Vancouver she would have been leaving NY too if a snow storm was coming. Have you seen how people from Vancouver react to any snow? Most of them don't even own snow tires. So that scene was all wrong.
