FINALLY!! finally someone said this😭 so-called honest beauty influencers say that these lip oils are 'sheer'- like gurl it's not sheer it's CLEAR. Love u monica for your honesty❤
Yep I’m a white girl and I’m like there’s NO pigment, maybe I’m not a “sheer” coverage girl( I’m not on any product actually) but still there’s nothing there
I love them but the packaging sucks. Mine leaks everywhere and the cap broke because it's very cheaply made. The elf one is my new favorite but the packaging does have slight leakage when you lay it down.
the number of times I've tried on a lip oil and it's literally clear🤦♀️ tysm!! but could you please incorporate more affordable drugstore makeup for us broke girls?
I actually agree with you. Some lip oils are just glorified clear lip glosses. That is why I cannot understand the people who go nuts for the 40$ lip oils Dior has when most of them are the color of nothing. If you're going to be spending that much money, get some with actual pigment.
Personally I’m actually pretty skeptical of high fashion label makeup like “you’re known for your clothing, and all of a sudden you want to do makeup?” Idk granted some brands have been doing beauty products for so long I don’t doubt the quality but yea I just think it’s weird.
If you don’t have much pigment to your lips and fair skin, the Dior ones actually do look great and it’s the more pigmented lip oils that look kinda off and need a lip liner. My friend is in that bucket, so I see the value in sheer lip oils now.
It never clicked for me that this is why I prefer them as well! Also when they fade a bit it’s not too jarring as when I wear a full pigment product with two toned lips!
As a light skinned girly I have two of the elf lip oils (orange and magenta pink) and they are both clear. I have tried everything to get some pigment and they are just clear. Even on my arm they are clear 😭. The lip oils are so popular for no reason and the good ones don’t even get the recognition they need.
I am a 45 year old brown woman and I literally just get the same shade as you because we are the same skin tone with the tan variables and hyperpigmentation. Can’t wait to try these shades! Love you 🤍
Number one Vaseline doesn't moisturize it actually just is something you put on top to hold in the moisture. So you have to have something thinner like a lip oil and then you put vaseline over top to seal in the moisture
I love how you include us black girls. It's a beautiful ally ship that Monica have with black women. I hope she never stops including us. I love her ❤️
They shouldn't be cancelling or hating because you're telling the damn truth 😉 and I need pigmented everything not overpriced lip glosses that barely shows up! Thank you Monica❤
I agreeeee thank you!! I got yelled at for saying this once but I wasn’t trying to say that lip oils have no function; just that a lot of them are marketed as basically lip gloss and they’re worse at it.
vaseline doesnt moistuirize lips by itself. Its natural for the skin and doesnt do much at all. thats why i mix oils with vaseline so its moisturizing my lips
Yes THANK YOU! Even with my really fair skin (I’m Latina but white-passing) my lips are pigmented and these almost never show any color. I needed some real pigment recommendations for tinted lip oils!
I completely agree! I just bought the Clinique black honey lip oil and on some it’s beautiful but on me it’s almost clear. I’m going to try some of your recommendations
Thank you for saying “the brown and the black girlies” because I say that and I’m brown but some people were taking it in a negative way. So thank you for also saying that so I can show them that others say it too and it’s just a normal thing. 🙏🏽👏🏽
Vaseline doesn't actually help my chapping, which gets so bad makes me bleed in short order, while a water oil balance toner sealed in with a thin thin lip oil actually will. They DO serve a purpose, it's just not cosmetic. 🤷
I was wondering about this myself a while ago, so I went and watched a few cosmetic chemists talk about this topic. Lip oils ARE different than lip glosses!! Similar ingredients lists, but the quanties are very different! 😊
Thank you!!! I am a white girl with a very fair skin tone, when I wear a lipstick I want COLOR to give to my appearance a little bit of life 😂 I never understood the purpose of this variety of clear lipgloss... If I want to hydrate my lips I use a lip balm
Yes!! Thank you for saying this! I thought I was the only one who thought lip oils and gloss are a waste of money. If I’m buying lip makeup products, it’s a liner and lipstick.
The video I needed! THANK YOU 💖. NARS is the only brand of lip oil I wear bc it’s the only brand I’ve found to have enough pigment for my skintone. I like the Super Orgasm X one, it’s a pretty coral shade with a little shimmer 🥰
I didn't think it could get much better than merit BUT.. the clairns lip oil comfort 03 and me go togetha real badd 😂 seriously I'm real deep caramel/russet color 👩🏾 and I was shocked at the the visible pigment- highly recommend.
Thank you because I tried the clinique black honey lip oil and was so sad that it was fried chicken grease texture with a transparent sheen of pigment. When it look SO DARK in the container
Great recommendations 🤞 I’m honestly really happy we had the lip oil revolution because I feel like it pushed companies to make better glosses/lip products. My lips have never been more hydrated lol
Yeah if I want pigment and shine, I just go to a lipgloss or luster lipstick. I’m pale but with fairly dark lips and unless they are really pigmented, lip oils just don’t have any color payoff for me.
This helps me a lot. I’m paler but I need brown tinted lip gloss and lipstick. Nothing but brown mauve and brown work for my undertones (sometimes red with brown liner) so all of these are gonna be great for me.
I’ve ALWAYS thought lip oil was glorified lipgloss too !!! The only ones I’ve found to be a true oil are by Florence by Mills and the first NYX lip oil in the pink tube with a kiss print on it.
I don't really get lip oils for the pigment, I am looking for a really hydrating thing that's more portable than Vaseline. For that though, I wouldn't expect to pay much more than a really good chapstick.
There's a NK lip oil in the beauty supply and that is an actual lip oil that also has great color payoff. I personally love using the nyx lip oil but it is fundamentally not a lip oil at least the first one they did is just a lip gloss.
Love clarins formula but hate their packaging - the doe foot is so large it leaves a lot of room for leakage - Cliniques new dark honey lip oil is so nice both packaging and formula but we definitely need some different shades to come out soon - should give Cliniques a try if you haven’t already x
Girlll yes yes yes!!! I was at a sephora in khols when I seen these lip oils. So i decided to try Werk Trip, and I loved it. Such an underappreciated lip oil!! 🥲
Well, lip oils and lip glosses definitely have a different feel and formula, even the hybrid ones. I don't like most lip glosses but I like a lot of lip oils.
