Whats crazy to me is how this is most definitely very early, but so much of it is really polished. The weapon animations are bespoke, there's reasonably professional sounding voiceover, etc. Not a lot of this looks placeholder. Kind of makes me wish Neversoft was given a chance to take the reins for an entry.
Animations were borrowed from MW2 apparently, but they voiceover is definitely surprising. I guess they wanted a "vertical slice" so that could make sense
I don't recognize any of the voices. I'm almost certain it's just the devs doing voice-overs as placeholders like the early Cod builds that are out in the public hands.
@@IsaacPoopsAlot As the guy above you said, this is likely what is called a "Vertical Slice" in the gaming industry. A single level or section of a game that is prioritized to have gameplay, art assets, sound design, etc all polished off and presentable, for the purpose of showcasing to investors and to be used in gameplay demos and trailers. The rest of the game would look far less finished than this.
@@firewolf11567 Not sure if you're implying something or not. This game still had a long way to go by the looks of it in the video. It boggles my mind how we've gotten a Cod game that hasn't seen the light of day, but no zombie builds of Bo2/Bo3 or an earlier build of OG MW2.
@RubenShinodaBellamy Right? It kind of makes me wonder if this game is REALLY Cod Ghosts, just VERY early in development. It also wouldn't surprise me if this game is what inspired Cod Infinite Warfare.
@@asidAttack Just goes to show how fucking bad the industry is when the unfinished content is more interesting when it's not allowed to be seen, versus all the shit we actually get officially. This game is still just another Sci-Fi COD. The REAL Sci-Fi COD that could have been was TitanFall, which is why most of the real talent left COD after Modern Warfare 2 and no surprise the series was never any better than MW2 thereafter.
They mentioned this story in the infinite warfare campaign of how sato and sdf had a war prior to the events of infinite warfare and given the cod ghosts references in infinite warfare I think this is the first wars earth had with Mars aka the SDF this gives me the expanse vibes so much and this prob would have been better if they had this than ghosts
Yeah I remember there about first war between UNSA and SDF called "Secession Wars" is a conflict between the nations of Earth that became the United Nations Space Alliance and the Settlement Defense Front. The war took place 30 years prior to the events of COD Infinite Warfare.
Man, wether this launch would have been a good choice or not... it's a shame to see all that work and effort, put by probably a lot of people, to just throw it in the trash.
@@thor1829 tbh its hard to tell because if you're looking at it from the perspective from someone who buys video games then yea it would probably feel sad that we wouldn't get this game but to the developers its just another job for them. Just cause they worked on it doesn't mean that they were very passionate about it. Like someone else said, they were paid for it and probably don't care what happens to the game after that.
This made me realize how much I miss the old style of Infinity ward COD. No long movie-like CGI cutscenes, no constant talking from the protagonist during gameplay, more floaty/slower gun animations that sort of flowed like a dance with the gun in your hand. Less of a focus on characters that can be repackaged and sold like toys in a item shop.. Man COD used to be something else. I miss those days.
Cod 4 felt like grounded action movie, that was followed by sequels made in Bay style- random explosions, over the top story, bombastic speeches etc.each mission in Cod 4 had unique vibe, MW 2 was packed with so much stuff going on it got dull after while.@@Hybred
When the original Infinity Ward left, so did the true essence of CoD. Now we get shitty cutscenes instead of the amazing real time ones that we used to get with OG IW. The quality of CoD has constantly just been an attempt of coasting on the original IW's works since MW2. That's why we haven't seen anything groundbreaking or revolutionary since 2009 within the series.
@@phil_matic and from 2013 to the end of 2017 IW for some reason they felt the need to compete with Respawn Entertainment, since most employees from Respawn were former IW employees. which meant making generic futuristic garbage in hopes that people would like it more than Titanfall.
The arcadey smoothness to aiming, how stiff your gun is on camera is great compared to the animations now. Everything has sway and feels like a bit too much. The older Cod engine feels better than 2019+
Vanguard didn't even had 0.0001% identity of its own😂😂 Laser guns, flashbangs, thermal optics, terminator and anime skins in ww2 😂😂😂 Movement and gunsmith was literal copy paste from mw201o 😂😂😂😂
@@amalo.vergaming4605It's just game after all, COD was never milsim anyway, nor it was ever historically accurate. I agree with you when it comes to historical accuracy, but the game itself isn't that bad, it's so smooth, on the good engine, so if someone wants to play something more milsim or historically accurate, they can try another franchise.
I cant understand you all. We used to have continuous Futuristic Warfare CODs over the previous years, such as; Black Ops 2, Advanced Warfare, Ghost and the infamous Infinite Warfare. Back then, the community keeps demanding a Modern Warfare series boots on the ground as well as WW2 games yet here we are now going circles aye? I rather Have COD Medieval Warfare at this point then.
@@HobeyDatorThere actually was supposed to be a medieval COD at one point. It was a COD game set in the Roman Empire (okay so not medieval but you get what i mean it was pre-industrial) and was in third person but it was scrapped in 2008. The idea was MW1 had just come out as an experiment to branch off from COD just being set in WWII and it was a smash hit so they experimented even further with the idea that COD could be ANY kind of warfare and that it didn't even have to exclusively be FPS. Ultimately they didn't go far on this idea though.
If rumours are to be believed and this was to be in place of ghosts then just imagine how much better this would've been. Not to mention this would've been before AW and infinite warfare so people wouldn't be tired of futuristic stuff yet. There is so much missed potential here.
@@Interlink.Agreed. This looks great but we have no idea how this game could have turned out so we can't say whether it would have been better. Ghosts had an insane amount of content and stuff to do it just didn't meet the expectations of the fans. Wasn't the right time or place for such a game and the maps being so large didn't help its case.
The developers at least considered that optics on rifles would need to be offset to compensate for the bulkiness of spacesuit helmets...unlike Starfield ffs
IDK why u hate on starfield it's a great game it's exactly what everyone should have thought it was gonna be fallout in space but people had unrealistic expectations
@@trieper2023 We wanted a modern Fallout/Skyrim in space not a game that looks like it was released 15 years ago. Instead we got PS3 graphics and a 15-year-old game engine with mundane repetitive tasks.
@@trieper2023Bethesda can’t make half decent weapons designs without it look like a monstrosity. They’re better off making elder scrolls or fantasy games.
@@bUtMyRiGhTsnewsflash chief, skyrim is repetitive and boring. Vanilla skyrim is one of the most mediocre games on the planet, and mods barely fix its issues.
Would've been a day 1 buy for me. I liked the Infinite Warfare campaign, probably would've loved this one too. Man I miss great CoD single player campaigns.
4:15 this gun has nearly the same exact reload animation as the Vector in Ghosts. I wonder if maybe some of Ghosts animations were initially made for “Future Warfare”
I feel like If Future Warfare was released in 2013 instead of Ghosts it could get a better reception then IW. At the time the market was still overwhelmed by Modern Military shooters, and an unexpected space CoD could have been the most surprising switch of a setting akin to CoD4 moving from WW2 to the present era
@@Idkwhattoputhere5123 AW was way overhated. The movement was actually skill based unlike in later jetpack games and it was extremely fast paced so you needed to think and react quicker. All the maps were made with exo-suits in mind and it was damn fun to hop on platforms and play with verticality. However the balance was killed by damn supply drops. Campaign was pretty meh and zombies were terrible though
@@Mannimarco_King_of_Worms I dunno about AW being way overhated, but IW definitely was. People had every right to criticize how bad IW's multiplayer and zombies modes were, but IW's campaign was its saving grace... and CoD fans ignored it just to shit on the other aspects of the game. And then ABK stopped doing campaigns for CoD, and those same exact CoD fans were wondering why when one of the most well made campaigns since WaW and the first two MW's/BO's was completely ignored.
Can't remember if Neversoft even exists anymore, but if any remnants from that team get together, they could make their own legally distinct cod game with this.
iirc Neversoft became part of Infinity Ward around the Ghosts launch/cycle, so probably they reused and expanded this concept in Infinite Warfare/The space mission of Ghosts
@@Darkex115 Honestly, yeah that'd make sense considering the space suit designs in this build, I wouldn't be surprised if the idea came from there and used it as a reference.
The IW4 engine was put to good use, creatively wise. Even if there's not much of a graphical uplift it can still immerse you into the world of this game. Just imagine if Neversoft was given time to polish it up and release it as their own game.
The ABG-4L acts more like a handheld grenade launcher rather than a normal handgun; the crosshair is really odd, too. I wonder what kind of weapon it's meant to be.
My assumption going through these is that there's no "Energy Weapon" category only "Ballistic and Energy" Weapons that are in the same category style that Infinite Warfare uses
Being under fire in space in an era where space travel is still new and incredibly unsafe would be the most terrifying feeling ever as if being shot at regularly wasn't bad enough now the bullets make no sound.
How I like that here the developers are not shy to show helmet visor (like in Republic Commando) and slowed dynamics due to weak gravity. That's really cool.
This game looks and plays better than 2023 MWIII and 2021’s Vanguard it’s a shame this game never came to be because it honestly would’ve been way better than what we ended up with
You'll pay $40 for this singular mission and you'll LIKE IT. Guns will be available in multiplayer too so all your friends will know your a space cowboy 🤠 Future Warfare: Moonfall DLC $39.99
Probably because a cod set mostly on the moon would get extremely stale after awhile. Which is why assets and concepts from this were repurposed in cod ghosts' space mission.
Our character have the US flag on the suit. While enemy have red flag and something yellow on top left. It might be soviet. This is timeline that they didn't collapse. Or China.
Imagine if they had made a futuristic Warfare game set within the same universe as the Modern Warfare trilogy instead of making two Black Ops 3 spin-offs that had nothing to do with the overall Call of Duty timeline
Looks like the Modern Warfare 2 codebase adapted with space theme, running on a Xbox 360 build (code-name: xenon). Very interesting stuff right here. I miss this OG COD games.
@@lesleyguevarra5374im afraid that old COD is dead...hopefully the writers and higher-ups make better decisions after the absolute shitshow that new MWIII was..
Crazy so much work went into this game and it never was released or finished. It's different enough that if they did not want to make it a COD game, it could have been something entirely on it's own. I like how it's some where between Advance Warfare and Infinite Warfare. I would have definitely have at least tried this out if it had been released.
All I can say is WOW. Infinite Warfare is my favorite CoD after World at War so this looks unbelievable. Hopefully this will be leaked for the public to play because I really want to play it.
@@smokejumper749 It’s the ONLY call of duty that shows the inner workings of an actual military, in this case a fictional Space Navy comprised of all countries on Earth united as one. Also, Brian Bloom who plays the main character Nick Reyes, who has been a voice actor at Infinity Ward for years, wrote the game himself so all of the dialogue uses real world military lingo and abbreviations. Every character he created I cared for, wether they were black or white, male or female, they are all tastefully written and have unique personalities that made them feel like true people. The story has weight to it’s plot, characters aren’t safe and most importantly you as the protagonist go above and beyond the call of duty, a principal that the series was founded on with it’s WW2 roots. On top of that, you get to explore the entire solar system through not only the main story, but with side missions as well, which no other CoD campaign features. In terms of CoD production value it gets a 10/10 for me. It essentially feels like an updated version of 60’s Star Trek but with space M4A1’s, electromagnetic AK47’s and advanced A.I. mechs that act as armor support.
@@Tomofdahook17I agree fully IWs campaign is S-Tier. But everything else was just kinda meh imo. Multiplayer to me felt like a reskinned BO3 but in space.
@Tomofdahook17 I actually enjoyed IW for the opposite reason: the story is this big dumb space blockbuster with the emotional depth of a vanilla wafer. The mission design is very fun though, and I enjoyed the renewed versatility of the combat. The guns were cool, space combat was fun, and multiplayer had some cool maps. I still really enjoy the original Black Ops though.
Only thing I’m not a fan of is the slow movement speed, which makes me glad we at least got Infinite Warfare. All you that crapped on that game before you knew what was coming should feel pretty stupid.
@@thatemocat I’m not saying it shouldn’t. 😅 I’m just saying while the concept is really unique and I certainly would’ve bought it, it’s not my preference.
I love the HERA-82 assaults rifle design so much. It still felt like a space gun with the black and white paint yet incorporates details like offset sights for use with astronaut helmet, radiators on the barrel to cool it because there is no air in space and even integrated ammo counter! Not to mention the giant release buttons because you have to use these things with very thick gloves.
Of course you would say that now. But you won't say this if it was 2010s. Because I still clearly remember all the hate for Infinite Warfare when it was first released due they said... too HALO-ish.
