@@Itz_HacerEWR is the airport identifier for Newark National Airport so, as mentioned by another poster, this was the guy piloting the plane for a flight out of Newark.
I get a sense of comfort when I step on the plane and my pilot looks like this gentleman: Polished, relaxed look, crispy clean uniform, smiling face. Thank you for your superior service.
@@devonkennedy1386 Desk work requires lifting a pen sir, this man lifts a plane. He's responsible for the safety of many lives on a plane flying 30,000 plus thousand feet in the air. How are you comparing desk work to piloting an aircraft? You sound like a passenger who should be on the: no fly list.
@@devonkennedy1386plotting a navigation course, learning the entry/exit patterns for every airport they go to, familiarizing themselves with local customs, handling flight manifest logs, performing pre flight maintenance checks, checking weather conditions in the area, yeah theres plenty more “desk work” than just pushing an autopilot button
I feel you buddy. I having been struggling finding work since 2022. I only have 5 years to go and I miss it already. I did my 757/767 training at United.
Talked to a retired pilot... every time he started to miss flying, he would set his alarm for 0400. Get up, shower, shave, and put his uniform on. Then he went outside and stood by the curb for 15 minutes with his flight bag and suitcase. After that, he went inside and sat in a chair for 6 hours, looking out his picture window. He said the feeling went away after a short time. I never completed the first step.
@@jerryschoofs895I just fly a desk top simulator. The deep ng does not go away but I indice a similar level of fatigue after an exacting detail with inflight failures that I sometimes am led to stay away from it after a while and thankful there are no post flight reports yo fill, no hotel accommodation contingencies to worry about and Chief Pilot or Safety office to visit!
I was born in Europe but grew up in Newark. I can tell you that if this man can go from having wine & steak in Paris to landing in Newark and do it in relative calm and with any sort of mental health, he can definitely be trusted with flying...

What a wonderful journey, you really know how to make the most of your layovers. Can’t wait to join you folks in the friendly skies as an attendant! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
For his partner or spouse it must be like being a military spouse regarding being away for so long. But the cherry is having the pleasure to see your loved one come home. Better to know they are still a part of your life than to never have them in your life at all. A good union supports one another. This guy I bet is well loved.
I was a Nanny for a TWA flight attendant. Single mother. She could have worked five or six days a week and been home every night however, when you’re gone gone for three or four days, they made it worthwhile $ Seniority helped. I think this pilot has some of that lol.
It must be hard to be away from home/family sometimes, but in the end, you are still flying planes. Good for you, Sr. Just do not forget to brings goodies for the wife and your kinds.😎 Be safe up there.
Better yet, bring some pastries, croissants or chocolate for your flight attendant crew that feed you and got you '6' in the cabin during the flight. You make enough money to do that every trip!
The difference between long haul and short haul is the rescue time. Even with multiple failures you normally get to go home on the same day. Over 2D years I’ve only had to wash a shirt down route three times.
I’m a flt attendant and I’ve had about five trips similar to this pilots. When I’ve hade them, it’s like no other job. I’ve had my plane break down on a Caribbean island, just to go back to the all inclusive hotel to chill out another 24hrs.
If you can still remember me, I had the passion and ambition to become a pilot. But I couldn’t start my education to become one, because of financial reasons (it costs way more than expected). I am about to start a degree related to nursing now. Felt like sharing it after seeing this vid 😢
Such is the way of life. It's unfortunate but opportunities are afforded to the lucky and the rich and the rest of us eat the table scraps and make due. It doesn't have to be this way but it's what the government wants and it's what we vote for every election.
@@mikoto7693pilot training really is expensive as heck. I spent $20k at a bad school and I didn’t even get my private license yet. Schools will have instructors that don’t even teach you anything. They will just fly for you and build up hours for themselves. I had to pull myself out of the school and go to another one. I’m on track now. But yeah aviation is a HUGE gamble
Entrecote is the best. Ate there in 2010. The best lasagne in the world is at Clichy tavern over near Clichy metro stop in the 19th add near Montmontre.
Hi Capt Paul👋🏼I must say, your new hair style is much more becoming on you! Hope you & your sweet family are well! Sending much love to you all from Michigan💕✈️😵💫
Ok I gotta ask, do you take a camera crew with you to work? I’m curious as to who is taking the videos of you!! I’ve never flown United - usually Alaska (I’m in Seattle) or Delta but if I’m ever on a United flight, I hope you’re the pilot!
I love how this man flies a 767. One of my favorite planes that I have never flown on before but spotted. Im glad theres a Pilot RU-vidr who was captain of it
So, United's maintenance problems are still disrupting operations. Call it the Continental Airlines effect. After all, that "United" tail design is actually representative of Frank Lorenzo's Golden Parachute.
Hey, I live in Red Wing and leave out of MSP to CDG mostly but on DL and AF, I am kind of stressed to use United ever since the Dr incident and overlooking and all that
It is also so incredible the commute distances that crew has to do to work, puts to shame any other ground based professionals needing to commute by public transport or car. 😂 Watching this channel has increased my respect for anyone working for airlines. It is truly a miracle of collaboration, dedication and professionalism.
I appreciate what you do to get people to their destination but feel sad it is for United. I have tried flying them to Europe (I go frequently) but the frequent cancelations drove me back to Delta which does not cancel nearly as often.
Being a pilot actually sucks. NEVER at home, have to commute to work, lonely, living out of suite cases and hotel rooms, eating food that's not fit for dogs, not to mention you'll spend over 100k in training cost and that's just the beginning.
Japan and Al Nippon also fly the jets. Delta is supposed to start replacing their 767s with Airbus 330/350 through 2030. United is replacing their 767s with 787s now. However I have not heard of an end date.
My husband was also an Int'l pilot with United. Before that he was with Pan AM. I had the privilege of traveling with him on oh so many of his trips. As wonderful as it was there is also the flip side. Especially for the widowhood travels space available. Was left behind in more foreign countries than I care to remember. Overall, a good life!
Awesome stay... next time try the view from the top of the Church Sacre Coeur, wich is on top of a Hill and give an even better view of Paris (and its fun to climb up)
So how did you get paid for all of that?? (dont need the $$) How many flight hours etc....just curious.I know they compensate well when you get cx or mx issues.
In scenarios where you are cancelled or have long delays, does the airline give you any kind of pay? I get some people would see 2 extra days in Paris as a win. But i’m trying to research if there any special types of delay pay for pilots outside the normal flight hour pay.
So how much of your job consists of training videos and activities? Do you have to fly in the simulator a certain amount of times per month or year? Would love to have more insight into the training aspect of being a pilot. I love flying and would like to think I’d make a good pilot… lol. I can fly the airbus A320 pretty good in Microsoft flight so. lol
When on a trip or sequence you get what is called Duty Rig or Trip Rigs. It's a negotiated contractual provision. You are GUARANTEED X amount of pay hours for the Y amount of time on duty. For example for every 3 hours on duty you are guaranteed 1 hour of pay time, 1 to 3. It's probably something like a 1 to 4 these days. Plus daily guarantee, plus trip guarantee and maybe other special provisions for international. It's what ever you can negotiate to protect crews while on the trip. Also forces the company to publish efficient trips. If they make you wait in airports all day without flying you still get paid something. Pay only when flying. A small perdiem per hr away from base for food and daily costs. This is not pay. Hope this makes sense without getting into the weeds.
@Turbulence210 yeah I had the same dream. Interviewed with Delta before Covid, got offered a job. Then covid hit and they canceled my class date. Switched to cargo and have been so much happier.
@Turbulence210 for me job security. Airlines tend to hire pilots until they furlough. You look at 9/11, 2008, and Covid. Pretty much every airline furloughed pilots. Cargo has been pretty safe. They tend to see problems in the market first before the airlines do and plan accordingly. Second is both FedEx and Ups offer a pension along with a company 401k Direct Contribution. I can't remember the extract amount, but if you put 30 years at Ups, your pension will be around 140k a year. Plus you still have your 401k from your company as well. Last not dealing with passengers. I show up, do my job, and then go straight to the hotel. There is no need to go through the terminal.
Dont know how pilots and cabin crew do it. We just got home to Australia yesterday from 2 months in Europe. After 6 weeks i had enough of living out of a suitcase, catching planes and trains. Its exhausting lol
Did you get paid for the canceled flight too? Or not because you were on a trip already? I'm under the assumption that if you were to get to Newark and the flight canceled you would still be paid for it.
Rather surprised at the length of some of the commutes by American airline aircrew. In the UK, it's common for aircrew to have to live with a couple of hours of their 'base'. Interesting, well-made short.
Paul I would like to ask you a serious question how do you feel about the safety of planes in united airlines fleet ? They have had some issues/ problems recently and now I’ve heard about passengers getting hurt due to turbulence attempting to land in Newark airport, then getting diverted You and your plane ✈️ have the passengers lives in your hands. How safe are we as we travel by plane? Please be honest. We love your videos and pray that you remain safe through out your career you have a wonderful family that needs you. Stay safe my friend 👍✈️
I Know the creperie house. Owned and administrated by girls. Very tasty the chorizo with egg and one with some gem like strawberry and vanilla ice cream. Tasty and nice local.
