Cancelled - Universal Studios Dubai 

Well on a slightly lighter note I'm willing to bet when the project was cancelled, they all said "Gubai", am I right? i'll just see myself out because I was trying too hard.

Honestly, the whole Dubai land project is just crazy.. and I’m not surprised that it failed. Also u mentioned that LEGO land Dubai also was canceled, but it wasn’t, it’s actually opened now in a place called “Dubai parks and resorts” just liked to point that out. But great video nonetheless!!

Once again, Bright Sun has fulfilled my bizarre hunger for amusement/theme park trivia.

Huh. I assumed this project was still going on. Oh well. Though it is weird seeing the iconic Universal Studios archway left abandoned somewhere.

You probably won't see this; but I've been going through a tough time mentally recently, and watching your videos on Disney/Universal attractions and parks has really helped me out. (as ridiculous as that sounds). Reminds me of a simpler time in my life. Anyway, thanks for creating such great content. I've subscribed and hit that bell that button, so look forward to more in the future!

Great video Jake! It would have been interesting to mention that a lot of these projects did get resurrected as Riverland Dubai which is very similar to Dubailand but on a smaller scale. They now have Legoland, Dreamworks, Six Flags (opening next year), a Bollywood park and a Universal style area called Motiongate Dubai.

This is TV quality content, keep it up!

You should do an ABANDONED video on Sydney's Monorail Network. It was pretty spooky seeing the random monorail stops hanging in the sky for years.

Universal are also building one in London. With Doctor Who and Top Gear rides announced. What we get for not nurturing creativity in our country :(

This was super interesting. I always love all of your theme park stuff, but your Universal episodes are particularly interesting since Disney has such a cult following that a lot of the information is readily available, whereas fewer people make content on Universal, especially content with this quality level. You guys are one of my absolute favorite channels, keep up the outstanding work!

I live in what remains of Dubai Land. It's sorta weird living around half-constructed abandoned buildings, almost feels like I'm living in a ghost town.

I live in Dubai and all the time I travel I see the archway for universal on the way tbh this place has created many theme parks equally as good as universal.

I was in Dubai in 2014 and we were driving out to the desert and just in the middle of nowhere was a “Universal Studios” icon arch sign and NOTHING ELSE!! Wish I had taken a picture was so excited at the thought of coming back in a few years to go to it but I guess that’s not happening but I’ll never forget seeing that arch standing all alone.

You should make a video on Hypermart USA, which was a series of large stores by Walmart before the typical Walmart-Supercenter came to fruition. I believe they only built four but the idea was cancelled around 1990 so it would make a good video idea for your series cancelled. The stores were gigantic, some up to 300,000 square feet I believe.

Amazing video as usual! Since I'm from the UAE I was thrilled to see this video and clicked the notification immediately! Keep up the great work! (Ps: Legoland Dubai was eventually built and opened about a year or so ago and its now one of the parks at Dubai Parks and Resorts. There's a Legoland waterpark there too. I've also seen ads for six flags which is set to open in 2019 apparently. I heard about universal studios Dubailand about 2 years ago and I did some research on it and now you've uploaded this video and I was like yesss something in the Middle East 😂😂

YES! Was waiting for this so long as a Dubai resident :D Pretty sure Legoland was not cancelled though, and I've seen the arch myself many times, and its pretty cool because every time I went to Dubai Outlet mall, I saw the arch myself and wondered what it was for, meanwhile I always read about Dubailand and never knew where the whole thing was. lol

I remember seeing those big signs whenever my family drives past them on the street they're on, never knew all these projects never happened.

Next you should do Paramount London! I was disappointed when that plan was cancelled because I live near that area.

Great video as always. I worked out in the UAE for a few years and worked with a number of people who worked on the Dubailand project which did result in Global Village and the Outlet Mall being built but it was well known by the team working on it that funding was really in place for any of it and most admit they didn't expect it to be built. The offices were demolished because a number of Asian labourers were living there because they had become stranded, when companies go bust very low paid staff have no way to get home and visas are canceled so they become stuck and are technically homeless. The site at one point had some parts of coasters and shipping containers of items for the park delivered but they seem to have disappeared. I was told these were never paid for like many things as it often the way there even from govenment held companies who are the worst for ripping off people and companies. The Six Flags project and Lego both came back to life under another company as they had done a lot of design work for Dubailand which they weren't paid for I guess they hoped to recoup the costs. The problem with any themepark in the UAE is it will never be a commercial success as out of around 3m residents 900k are locals, 1m are Indians/Pakistani/Bangladeshi, 400k filpinos and the rest a mix of westerners and other Asians. Many just can't afford to attention the parks in the volumes needed as the Ferrari World has found out and has needed constant injection of cash to keep it running and to stop it looking like a white elephant.

This is outrageous! I want a Universal Studios Dubai and a Six Flags Dubai that should happen in the mid-to-late 2020’s! I can imagine both parks being indoors and away from the extreme heat of the Middle Eastern deserts!

Oh my god I remember passing through this site when I was 9!!!!!! I vividly remember the dome-shaped preview center, I urged my dad to take a right turn cause I saw the arch and thought it looked cool. I was bummed that we didn't go and I spent the rest of the day reminiscing what could've happened if we went there.

What a shame! My sister went out to visit her boyfriend who is currently working in Abu Dhabi. They went to the Ferrari World theme park. She said it seemed EMPTY compared to Universal Orlando, Hollywood and the Disney Parks. Maybe UAE doesn't have the same interest in theme parks that we do.

The draw to BSP is that they don't put obnoxious creepy music over the video while they tell us about these projects, buildings, retailers, etc.

Most of the companies who wanted a spot in Dubailand actually got what they wanted eventually because of Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Mate I think your content is outdated, LEGO land is a reality as well as a couple of other theme parks such as Bollywood parks and resorts the IMG worlds (based on characters from Cartoon Network) which are all under the proposed Dubailand from 2007
