Paying off mortgage is not always a good thing. It’s a good thing in India but in USA if you have a mortgage with low interest rate than what other investments make then it’s not worth to rush and pay off. Of course it’s depends on each individual’s income, situations and peace of mind.

Make a video on strategies we can start moving our funds from there to here or how to have consolidated minimal funds/property from parents so that it's easy for them to maintain and also easy for us to take over after their time.

Just out of curiosity, what are you planning to do after your younger son leaves for college? Stay at home or go back to work? I know you still have 8 years before you face that situation but it will be here before you realize it. Believe me, it hits the best of us in a hard way even if we’re well prepared mentally 😊

If I’m still doing I would consider continuing my RU-vidr journey ( it’s a lot of time commitment) Also I will have to give my time to Amma at that age. So let’s see what’s in store after 8 years. Cheap mortgage is not bad financial decision, if you invest the principal money it will make more money, so I would advise against it, especially in US because we have low 30 year mortgage

I dont think US education teaches anything special for kids. I have seen kids not having the mind to even buy clothes for their elderly parents and many wear torn clothes.. There is also a difference daughter lives with mom or mom lives with daughter. I would encpurage my 2 kids to actually be open to take care of parents or their in laws in future. Ofcourse we hav enough from our jobs for retirement. We have currently no loans. Own our home. I think just the kids taking care of themselves is not enough. By definition a boy becomes a man when he can take care of a dependent. Amazing discussion by all of you.
Very well said ...there shud b a source of attachment and belongingness which paves way for responsibilities ....kids taking care of themselves or setting a bench mark not to expect from them is way too selfish I guess..
If you have settled and love the place you live today , why you discuss about India and do a comparison. Not worthy discussion. Please do not comment about India, when you do not have any soul connection with that country. When people live in India, they use the reservation system in education and jobs and when they settle in another country, they forget about their past history. Very unfortunate. Good that US supreme court has stuck down the affirmative action in educational institution and will be based on merit. Fabricated victimization made up story will not work in USA.
