After retiring in 1986, Alan Raubenheimer started making tinplate toy boats, driven by candle fired 'pop-pop' steam engines. With the support of his partner Rose, Alan began selling these boats and designed a range of tinplate steamers which were named 'Rose Boats'.
In addition to his toy boat manufacturing, Alan's passion for vintage toy collecting led him to create a toy museum at his home in Napier which became a beloved tourist attraction.
This short documentary tells the story of Alan's lifelong interest in the pop-pop engine, and his passion for making toys, which he continues to do at the age of 92.
