Haven't been in touch with the band lately, but... This surely is Mats Levén. Didn't know he was currently working with them. Candlemass surely have a fine taste for singers. Each one of them is gold.
While I prefer Messiah myself, I have to admit that Mats has a very unique vocal ability-his voice is very soft, but very strong and clear. He adds a menacing tone that not too many singers in this genre can reproduce. Anyhow, I first picked up the Nightfall album in 1986 or 1987 (thought the cover looked cool) and I was blown away when I heard "The Well Of Souls". It's been 31 years later and I'm STILL a fan of this truly OVERLOOKED band!
Many bands trying to play doom metal Candlemass does it irobi this in a great way, they are not accidentally called one of the fathers of this genre Great job.
I have been listening CANDLEMASS since ANCİENT DREAMS what ı think is CANDLEMASS still brilliant very modern vocals very heavy and dark guitar sounds and tones ı love HOUSE OF DOOM EP I DO ENJOY İT CANDLEMASS İS MUCH BETTER THAN PAST

I Know Candlemass 23 years now ! Great doom band , great doom music ! But the problem is that I think that they write and play music for me and my house ! Am I schizophreniac ?
It is evident that we are living in a golden age of thrash death black and doom metal. In these times of political and economic crises we have a great and grandiose soundtrack to these troubled times.
What was this....Half an album ??! Three GREAT songs and then ending with a totally uninspired fourth (instrumental) piece, leaving everybody in the dark ? WTF ? Who's idea was that ??? You guys on a deadline there ? There was two of us listening to that EP here, and we both independently experienced exactly the same "cop-out" there ! Candlemass is a great band, but needs a better "director".
vocals dont have enough character! I'm not expecting him to be on the level of Marcolin and its inevitable when vocalists have to live up to the predecessor people are going to dislike it, i get that but it just lacks character. then again i was ever a fan of krux

Nope! This sadly lacks any of the heaviness I usually associate with this band. To me it sounds like a marriage between a confused Candlemass and Ghost topped with a singer that lacks character. He doesn't sing bad at all. But he lacks uniqueness. I'd personally hate to shoulder the job of Messiah but he chosed to and will be judged accordingly. He doesn't do the old stuff justice, at all, which both Thomas and the drunk 'merican actually did.
Agreed. Candlemass has lost it's epicness. Now they just sound like they are trying too hard to be doom. The shredding solos are gone,the unique ultra heavy riffs aren't there anymore, and no one will ever be able to match messiah in pure power and emotion
