Sorry you only had her for 9 years. I lost my prized Newfoundland at 8, and that broke my heart. But it was still a very good 8 years together. I’m sure it was the same with you.
They are both phenomenal dogs. I would take either one for protection of my family and home. If I had to choose between the two breeds, it would depend on what I needed them for. If I was looking for more of a pet to guard my home and family and still mix with other people and animals, then I would choose the Cane Corso. If I was going to use a dog more in the field for hunting, especially for cougar and feral hog hunting, etc., then I would choose the Dogo. They are both breeds that I would love to own and have as member of my family.
@@faylenebyrd Congratulations. I'd love to have another dog now, especially a Cane Corso or similar dog but we have one dog left from our previous "pack" and for some reason she attacks all dogs now. She grew up with 3 and 4 other dogs her entire life but she is now dog aggressive, actually she is animal aggressive now. She goes after other dogs, no matter how much bigger, she kills rabbits, snakes, lizards, birds, everything. She always chased other animals but she wasn't like that with other dogs until the last of her pack passed away. She grew up with an American Bulldog, Bullmastiff, Standard Poodle (don't laugh about the Poodle, he was a big badass and the best dog I've ever owned, lol) and a mixed breed or two. She's a small mixed breed that 10 1/2 years old but acts like she's 3 years old. I have some training experience and we went to a professional trainer but she won't change. We rescued a large Bullmastiff and she attacked it and almost paid with her life. Only her thick collar saved her from being killed by the rescue Bullmastiff. In the future a Cane Cross or Dogo will be a breed we get, along with another Doberman from real working stock.
The cane Corso and dogo Argentino are both large working dogs breeds that can make excellent family dogs when properly trained. When it comes to the topic of cane Corso vs dogo argentino,it is impossible to say which one is better. While these two breeds have a lot in common, they have just as many differences.
I really appreciate your comments and you’re saying the truth, because you know which one is better, which one has more experience and courage and power.
For me, it's safer to choose Cane Corso than Dogo Argentino because my wife wants a Cane Corso. Remember, wife is always right. If she wants Dogo, buy a Dogo not Cane Corso. An angry wife is more dangerous than a lion.
Corso .. enjoying my 12 month old. Super strong, agile, fast, intelligent. Always a circus when we walk him in parks, shopping centers. Attracts a lot of people. Great breed ! Very lovable.
I only have first hand experience with the Dogo in my family & what I'm told from Corso owners. My Dogos, as historically same, are very tolerant with children of all sizes. My oldest was 10 when we got our 1st female dogo Gabrielle, who was 7 months old & my youngest daughter was born the same year as my Dogo litter so she grew up with the Dam & 1 female pup, Sadie. I had no issues with them & they were all best friends. My youngest would ride Sadie until she got tired & would sit down then my daughter would slide down her back. Gabrielle would wake up my oldest for school on command. I'd tell her to go wake up Sophia then she'd run down stairs, push open her bedroom door, which wouldn't close properly, & jump on her bed. I've been without dogs for 10+ yrs & my next dog will be a Dogo.
I have a cane Corso Dogo argentino mix, male intact. I see that he has more qualities and physical attributes of the dogo. He is a great dog either way.
I love my Corso! Smartest dog I have ever owned and his bite is no joke. I’ll give him frozen chicken drum sticks and he bites into it like he’s eating a cookie and all you hear is crunching lol but he’s so gentle with me. Best dog I’ve ever had
I can confirm that i still have mine hes 2 years old and hes so sweet he defends me everywhere i go and he is playfull and his bites are super strong and i love him :D
Cane Corso is not suitable in hot climates, Dogo Argentino is bred for hotter climates and tolerates them better. Thats a big factor with me. They are both very capable dogs and almost evenly matched, heat tolerance aside.
Climate is for warmer areas - Training is critical and adequate acres for exercising.... Great Video... As a Grandfather with Grandchildren I'd go with Cane Corso if the Ordinances allows...!
I've been looking at both and the cane is said to not have the prey drive of the shepherd or hunting types of large guardian dogs, so might be better if you plan to have cats.
I think they both are fantastic, but the corso, has a better temperament, the dogo, if it’s a straight up attack situation would be a bit better they seem to be a bit more aggressive. I don’t know they both are very similar.
Better for working dogo argentino It is ferocious and fearless with massive strength And for family Cane Corso as he is a guardian He can. Defend his family and house until it s last breath he is loyal and a big enough to deal with anyone Pin me
My dogo actually prefers cold to heat. they are very adaptable. they are known for being great family dogs. Mine was very easy to train. He Knew all of the basics at only 11 weeks. He is great with kids and my cats and chickens. The only time i ever saw him aggressive was when he was around another intact male dog with a female dog in heat.
My door gets excited in fall ...it's the zoomies all day everyday soon as we go outside subzero or really cold he'd rather hold his pee then go out but cold hes like LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO GET THE TOYS
My Dogo loved everyone. Little kids would come and beg me to let Teddee play with them. If I told him something or someone was a "Baby," he knew to be careful. And everything that was not a "Baby," was fair game.
Having 2 cane (pronounced cona' ) by breed experts, as grand puppies, they are amazing in all respects. I don't know the other breed, but my daughter has a champion male that is wonderful. They train well if you are an owner that means what you say when it's a commanded. If you have one, enjoy them as they are fun to have cuddle on the couch with or do anything you want to do.
My dogo is insanely protective and alert while treating my 1 year old niece with gentle patience. Only thing is he has skin issues and can literally scale the wall like a scene from the matrix 😳 is crazy. He loves to cuddle listens very well and is adorable with a black painted lip that makes him look like he’s saying “what’s up ?” I’d recommend a dogo all day. The cane corso is a bad ass dog as Well though but I’ve never owned one or Even been around one. The dogo to me though just seems more cute and athletic apposed to the corso which looks more scary and unpredictable. The dogo is also is not only a hunter but an almost obsessed guard dog, nothing gets near my house without me knowing instantly 👍🏼
I must say that both are amazingly strong and equally powerful. Cane Corso has a stronger bite and has faster though dogo is physically stronger and has an explosive attack that no one would realize it happened. As a family dog a trained dogo can't be surpassed but without any training they are pretty much the same. Even though Cane Corso is easier to train, the dogo is really easy to train but once trained it is the best dog. For a family it must be the dogo, as a working dog both are great, Dogo for harder activities, Cane Corso for easier and smaller activities. They are equally strong without a doubt. No matter what others say these dogs surpass Kangals and Caucasian shepherds, making them the strongest and most powerful dogs. Both are amazing and I recommend getting one !!!
Bro I have a 2 years old Dogo and he HATES Corso‘s , smashed 4 so far, the balls on a Dogo is ridiculous, I wish I never got 1…. He’s GREAT with the family, OVER protecting of my 6 years old daughter, VERY people friendly but he’s a hunting dog through and through….. 6 to 8 mile runs a day while I’m on the electric scooter and if he’s not running like today, he swims a little over a mile in 2 1/2 hours……his strength and stamina is crazy
My 9 year old grandson was unprovoked bitten in the face by a Cane Corso. Not good, permanent scars onviously. On the other side, my Dogo restored his confidence in dogs and they have a bond and play together.
Any mastiff one choses can be your favorite dog or worst nightmare. Same applies to any kind of guard dog. Early association and lots of exercise are essential. If you don't have at least 2 hours a day to spare for your pup, they aren't the dog for you.
Funny, I own both of these breeds currently. They are both amazing. Socialize them well and frequently with plenty of exercise and you won't enjoy owning a dog more then these two breeds. As for which one is better....that's like asking which child you love more. Not going choose
1 male 1 female, but it doesn't matter. They are both good with both genders. No issues at all. But I did extensive socialization in the 10 to 14 week time frame.
Right. That force might not matter much. From online resources the dogo is around 500 - 600 psi and a corso is around 670 - 700, a kangal 740. They say a normal wolf bite force is 400psi but that they can hit up to 1000 to 1200. How much force does it take to bite through a dog's leg or crush a muscular dog's throat? Puncture or even crush a dog's skull? Same questions for human parts. If whatever large sized guardian type dog doesn't need that extra 200psi from ~500psi to go to 700 to do those things, then I don't see where it's that big of a game changer. Idk the answer I'm just saying it's something worth investigating. Also, the size of the mouth that force is being applied across can matter (e.g. lion vs wolf). That and tearing, rending etc. still does damage. Hunting nature of dogo might be a little more agile on average depending on the particular corso but could depend on the upgringing, lifetstyle, training of the particular dog. (E..g farm boys vs desk jockeys). If you aren't hitting the gym you aren't going to be all you can be as a specimen so to speak. That hunting nature isn't necessarily great for living in suburbs or city though (even with a decent sized suburban yard and taking walks) or having cats or other small dogs around either, so there are a lot of things to consider. How many times is your dog fighting another big guard dog to the death rather than it protecting your property and loved ones, being a deterrent, using it's much greater senses to give you early warning, and being active guardian between your household and intruders. Personally I don't have roving bands of corsos and dogos raiding my house. It's much more likely a human would think about it. Thieves and attackers, even muggers, typically aren't typically committing crimes with another dog. I carry enough on me on walks that I can help deal with any random attacking dog too. I'm not waiting around to "see who wins" while my dog could suffer debilitating injury even if he "won".
Unfortunately i have noticed that Dogo Argentinos have a lot pf wrong information about them still. Most likely from the fact that the Dogo wanst even officially recognized as a breed by the AKC until 2020 since by their standards there must be atleast 2,000 breeding pairs. In a country of almost 400 million ppl that isnt a large sample size. Another fact often left out of comparrison videos involving Dogos is the way their jaw is shaped. Their jaws are more squared than rounded which helps them hold which is why they a are refered to as catch dogs when hunting. As an owner of a 100+ pound male Dogo and somone who is not small in scale myself i can confirm from playing tug with him that if they dont want to let something go it will not get away without a release command. Dogos are also way smarter than they are given credit for or mine have all just been above average some how. My Dogo can spell(simple words obviously) knows his commands in 2 languages and somehow knows which ringtone on my phone goes to which person(his reactions when my phone rings gives that one away). Both dogs in the video are good at what they do and are not dogs for 1st time owners. Didnt mean to write a small essay, but i have noticed in most videos i see Dogos are always knocked for intelligence and bite force. Being strong willed and stuborn, which is true, does not make them less imtelligant.
We have a Cane Corso, he's a great dog, he is very kid friendly cause he himself is still a kid but if your an adult and have fear of big dogs then you need to get very well acquainted with him first
Wrong! An adult Lion has a bite force of more than 1000 psi. 600 psi that most people believe has now been refuted ( this was a bite force taken from a young lion)
Not sure where the GS wandered into the conversation lol, but yeah, no contest. I have a 122 lb male Dogo and a GS got away from the person walking him and came flying toward us from maybe 50ft away. NO CONTEST AT ALL. My dude flattened him like a damp paper towel. The GS looked like he hit a brick wall he got stopped so hard. I was actually pretty close to getting a Cane (pronounced "connie") Corso too. They're awesome dogs, but at this point, Dogo all the way.
Cane Corso is more suitable for the family because it smarter and way more loyal. It's genetics is original. It was bred without interference. Not to say that cane corso is not stronger than dogo. It's slightly stronger than dogo. Dogo on the other hand can snap anytime biting the hands that feed it even if it was trained well. Its because of its genetics that was interfered in labs by men in old Argentina originally since they were bred mainly to hunt and fight.
I have to disagree on this comment. Dogos, like any dog, are they way they are due to their humans. My Dogo brought from Old Argentina is the sweetest pup. He loves to run and play. He does not like when I knit for a long time because I can't pet him. He is the best dog for protection and are good family dogs, IMHO.
I love my Dogo. She is a phenomenal Dog... 3 year old...She loves my friends and family...but will keep strangers at bay... Is not a dog for first time dog owners...demands a lot of attention...And exercise
You clearly know nothing about the cane corso. Cane corso were created and breed by Roman’s to fight on the front line. They have more fighting in their DNA then a dogo. Dogos were bread to chase rabbits and boars, corsos were bread to kill humans and other big animals
Almost everyone say this , I don't know my dogs psi but I tell you this I've had alot.of dogs and my 5 Corso puppy bites harder than every grown dog I've had lol
The name is not pronounced like Cane Sugar, it's pronounced con-eh, Con-eh Corso, meaning running (coursing) dog in Italian. Easy to spot the novices of the breeed who pronounce it this way incorrectly.
Cane is pronounce ca-ne, which mean dog in Italian. Corso means race in Italian, as you said. But a Cane Corso is not a coursing bread (greyhounds, Saluki's, lurchers and whippet's) and never has been. Technically the coursing breads are also know as a sight hounds and I have also heard them called running dogs. My Corso is fast and agile, but her greyhound and lurcher friends run rings around her and she could never catch a Hare or Rabit in an open field. Maybe that is why people say Corso is from the Greek, but I would not know.
Cane (kaane) means dog, "corso" comes from latin "cohora, chors, cors" and in this context means escort. For example, The cohors praetorian( praetorian guard) was an elite army that served as bodyguard for the roman emperor.
I have a cane corso female over protecting of her territory she’s smart loves physical activity..however in the future I will get a Dogo it’s more of a challenge the mental and physical aspect
