I actually thought Canibus was holding his own for the first two rounds. The thing is I feel like it wasn't a fair fight anyway. Canibus has a long history, public beefs, a mediocre career, etc and this gave Dizaster material to work with and to diss him on. Meanwhile what can Canibus hit back with? What does he know about Dizaster? What does anyone know about Dizaster? Not exactly a fair battle when one guy is super well known and the other guy is just a RU-vid guy with no history. But Canibus had great lines throughout, and the people's reactions to his lines show that he's still got it, loss or not. Let's not pretend like one bad night negated 20 years of great material.
I laughed out loud when he said "mama seh mama sah mama kusah" ROFL. Lol anyone who thinks he's washed up is crazy. Dizaster is nasty no doubt, but that doesn't make Canibus garbage.
Well tell that to Cortez, Rex, Aye Verb, Kannon, and Arsonal because they all washed Diz badly. Canibus is one of the greatest lyricist to ever do it and I agree with what he's saying in the interview, but losing a battle to an inferior lyricist is embarrassing and doesn't help his cause. Don't make excuses bro.
Couldn't of said it better myself that is so true. Diz had alot more ammo on canibus. All diz talked about is canibus career. If they where 2 battle again and he couldn't talk about his career diz would have nothin to rap about meanwhile canibus would kill diz. Canibus wasnt on point that night either.
Yeah & Dizaster just lost to cassidy in a battle a redundant abc punchline rapper who hadn't even battled in 12 years leading up to that LOL. Seems like canibus really cursed dizaster. Diz hasn't been on fire since he battled canibus.
To be honest, the battle was already over. Bis said: "Aight Diz, you win. I'm not a freestyle rapper, you're better at this." He ended the battle with that. After that, he just wanted to please the fans. He wanted them to hear some dope ass bars. That's why he pulled out the notepad.
Canibus mindset and mentality were not in total alignment with what the expectations of the battle were. You have to understand he was entering a hostile environment as an older and less aggressive, more objective artist with an increasingly enlightened perspective. It was supposed to be more than a battle- to him, an opportunity to leverage his reputation and his repertoire (by "putting it on the table") to shine a brighter spot light onto the scene that he was stepping into in order to create awareness and pave the way for greater possibilities and opportunities to a broader audience, and a wider spectrum of people. You can tell this is the case just by the things he is saying "We're all in this together", "each one teach one", ("Unity"), I can see this same philosophy in the (older) artists where I'm from (Bay, CA) - which is an understanding that we are living in a social pyramid and those at the top want to turn the rest of us against each other and we have to collaborate and work together, because we can ALL make it if we get on the same page. When you leverage your reputation, you're placing a bet, and a bet can go more than one way. The KOTD platform is very specific and specialized and by nature is very underground and therefore widely unknown yet highly regarded. Unfortunately he (Biz) was more emotionally invested in intention than preparation. And that's not to say he didn't put in the work, if there is any Emcee I can picture ripping through a notebook in the middle of the night to flickering candlelight it is definitely Rip the Jack. But at the very base of his motivation was an intention to create something greater, whereas his opponent was laser focused on destruction. This is what I can deduce by what happened and what he's saying now. Meanwhile, Dizaster is preparing like Rocky taking on Apollo for the first time. If you consider the catalog of Canibus obviously you're preparing to take on a literal rap god. So win lose or draw Diz went in with everything he had. That's why he was so disappointed in how it ultimately went. As for Canibus all the other artists that he envisioned to follow the path that he was going to lay out in order to bring a greater awareness to the battle rap circuit in general clearly opted out due to the outcome and all the controversy, which overall, is a shame. I understand where Biz was coming from and what he was trying to help create but it wasn't the 'battle of the century' that people were 'expecting'. I'm actually very impressed with Swizz's response after having freshly viewed it for the first time, most people would've needed more time to digest what happened. I just felt compelled to write this. If you read this I appreciate your curiosity and Thank You ... Canibus is Hall of Fame material. One of the Best. Period.
I dug this analysis the most. I know Canibus' catalog up and down, but somehow I lost sight of his ethos, his skill, all that I like about the cat. I guess I was consumed, blinded by knee-jerk chagrin, in watching the battle go down. So thanks for, I guess, doing that psychic labor for me. I'm not sure if I entirely agree, but it's totally a perspective that has as much merit as the more cynical, pessimistic ones I've visited. Just wanted to express my appreciation. And also ask +GD UL how they cope with being such a bummer. Your life must be hell, for you to be so compelled to go out of your way to shit on a cat who seems to be just expressing enthusiasm by flexing with some analysis. Someone musta come through and just completely fucked up your heart fam. Seriously, if you gotta talk, air some shit out, shoot me an email or something: dag.damon.dammit@gmail.com
should we dig tupac from his grave and demand him to battle these new age rappers to prove to us that his catalogue from the past is worthy for our ears..... and if he loses should we throw all his CD's in the trash can...
"It makes me feel like a kid again, man. It makes me feel like I'm in my teens". Canibus has got mad respect for Hip-Hop and its legends. I will stand his side any time because of what he gave and is STILL giving to Hip-Hop. All your corny rappers TALK about real rap and shit, but don't DO any factual move to collaborate with these legends or bring the Hip Hop-related rap to the spot. Canibus made a track with Rakim, have made some songs with G Rap, and people dare to deny his love for the craft? Simply put, you motherfuckers haters' words mean shit. We are still going to enjoy Canibus' music and thank him for being there maintaining this kind of rap.
i also think canibus would be a beast in the battle rap world as far as incredible bars but a lot of times i wonder whether he has the attitude to step back in the ring . canibus is mature, spiritual and moral dudes in the battle rap would are sadistic, condescending and vicious so the question is, would canibus know how to manage that or not ..
+InnOminandum X People on VladTV and also commenters on the youtube site have said that rap battling is a far more aggressive and vicious sport than it was when people like Canibus and Eminem were coming up, and that OGs like Canibus, Eminem or any other OG's who never battled in that atmosphere and haven't battled at all for years, would not fare well. I think that makes a lot of sense.
i been a canibus fan his ENTIRE career and my only word on this subject is true diz trashed him.... but ask diz if he can make a song.... canibus has a catalog of rhymes and tracks that speak to your THIRD EYE... that battle can be best described as ALI vs. Larry Holmes.... it was a dizaster and a sad way for a legend to look but still got love for bus
"He was the illest alive but nobody would face it, he spit til his tongue was too torched to taste it, never mattered to him the art galleries hated him cause Thomas Kincaid called and said he would take 10, complete enigmas..." - Canibus
diz is pure battle rapper he has not 1 song he would smash any1 in a battle name ur rappers, bis is the goat on what he can write on paper n make rhyme in song
He is a writer, not a battler. He shouldn't have even done the battle, but what he did is give this dizaster kid mad exposure, so why is anyone who supports him mad? Let's see Dizaster come with a track half as crazy as Poet Laureate Infinity? Step into Germaine's world, make a 1000 bar track. We all know it won't be as good as Bis's. Because Dizaster is a battler, not a writer. That's not a knock on the kid, its just his style.
that's actually not true, Diz just hasen't put anything out because he wants to do it the right way, he plays strings, pianos, and even sings REALLY well (which surprised me), and he is an excellent writer (as is Canibus) but very few know that because very little has been released....
why do people say canibus doesn't battle? even canibus believes his lies " that he doesn't battle" all he talked about was battling especially when he was out in the 90's
I luv Canibus to death but I think he needs to own up to his performance in that Dizaster battle he owes his fans an apology for such a horrific performance and I still think he should battle one more time (regardless of who) and this time bring his A game 100% fully prepared rhymes memorized and ready to blast on deck that's the only thing he could ever do to make up his performance in that L he took there are die hard Canibus fans like myself who have supported Biz vocally and financially (meaning buying his music off the shelf) for years that he owes that to
damnnnnn....... shits crazy. you know whats pretty funny canibus has said sooo many rhymes in his life and i feel like we all know them soo well that it would be hard to try to rhyme without saying shit he has said before. Bis is still the G.O.A.T when it comes to writing.
exactly, too many memorized rhymes in a nigga head to not trip up and say some old shit or even new shit while freestyling or reciting. The sheer amount of brain energy it takes to hold back album lyrics is a bitch.
He does have ill freestyles though for the record. Niggas forget tha man is uncanny freestyling too. You can download his entire freestyle catalog via torrent. To maintain a scientific mind while freestyling makes him the truth an not just a wordy gimmick. After 2K he'd been so focused on the writing that the improvisational skillz gotten out of shape.

***** Your def. an undergound head lol...you have alot of great mc's on that list...but Em is #1...no doubt about it...FACTS!! he has done it all..with great production, song structure and lyrical ability..I love how you have Chino XL on there..i agree...i love chino's albums..but EM is #1..and what is goretex doin on there?? over Necro?? yur taste is good and bad at the same time homey lol...and how is Royce not on there?? and Joe and Ortiz??? ...very strange that u think immortal technique is better than Crooked...i like your taste but your opinions/list is all fucked up
spectah24 Chino XL buried Crooked I on the Sway & King Tech show in 2005 while spitting writtens to promote Sway & Tech's "Back 2 Basics" compilation album. Of course Crooked I is signed with Shady Records as part of Slaughterhouse / affiliated with Eminem and Dr. Dre. Because of the affiliation Crooked I,Joell Ortiz,Royce and Budden get props for lyricism in 2015 (nowadays) that they don't deserve anymore. The only one who doesn't get props is Yelawolf. Although he deserves some for an innovative take on "country-rap" kind of style that is refreshing. Have you heard the album from 2013 called "Electric Lucifer" by Gore Elohim (Goretex). It is sick as fuck. Immortal Technique one "Revolutionary Vol. 1","Revolutionary Vol. 2" ,"The 3rd World" and "The Martyr" has way more brutal hardcore verse than Eminem's best. Maybe Immortal Tech's political leftist vibe turns you off. (I can understand how some listeners would feel that way). Royce's best verses were on "Boom" from late 2001's "Rock City and from "Bad Meets Evil" from 1999's "The Slim Shady LP" . That was a long time ago. Eminem has not been lyrically relevant since early 2003. Actually listen to Jak Tripper,Virtuoso (solo albums and CoVirt Ops: Ifantry with The Snowgoons),K-Rino (all albums),Diabolic,DZK (all songs / collections),Ras Kass's latest album produced by Apollo Brown. Listen to the 1999 Blackalicious album with Gift Of Gab on it. Others like Apathy,Celph Titled,Vinnie Paz and Jus Allah we don't have to argue this is 2015 not 1998 .Same goes for Slug and Aesop Rock. Listen to Kool G Rap's verses on "The Godfather's" album with Necro. Listen to the second Deltron3030 album. Necro also has had some of the whackest bars in hip hop history. "Die!" , was a very, very bad album. If this was "I Need Drugs'' or "Gory Days" or "early years" Necro from 1992 to 2001 then it's a different story. Listen to all group albums by Binary Star and all of One Be Lo's solo albums.

I Appreciate How He Repped Jersey Too On Various Freestyles N Tracks When Some Rappers Didn't Too Much!!!!!!(Some Say Canibus Lived In Newark At 1 Point🤔)
Canibus used to work for the Department of Justice. His mother is Elaine Williams. Does anyone know what her profession was? Her and her son moved frequently and lived in the UK.
+bobby champion you typed CANIBUS name wrong 3 times in 3 of 3 sentences. Haha.. you fucking suck. Recognize a legend, now shut the fuck up and go troll somewhere else
Bis was suppose to retire after micclub. But his fans gave him that energy to continue for 10 more years and now we finally get RTJ2. I understand the battle and dont really think much of it nor did I care for it because of the negativity that came from it. Just cant wait to pop in RTJ2. Been waitin for it since June 2009!
Canibus, should just start writing again and put some music. No pressure though I'm not expecting him out do himself(not saying that he can't out do himself either). Write songs Bis! I believe he can work his way back to battling again.
this is a sad fact..I'm 48 yrs old, I got into hip hop in 78, but back then hip hop was called block party. I use to listen to Brownsville radio, I brought my first record in 78/79..it was rappers delight by the sugar Hill gang, then along came grand master flash..the point is I still listen to hip hop..I've seen and heard them all, from Curtis blow/to run d mc, moving forward, from skully d/to the wu tang clan, and I've got to say as far lyricism goes, canibus is out there, not many are on this level, I feel if your one if them people who thinks he just raps big words you're 1of 2 things, you lack the capacity to understand...Or your lazy..lazy to Google reference to what he is saying or telling, he's trying to bring something néw to us all. because on the real, hip hop is becoming stale..so before you drop negatives about him, 1st try and give the mainstream hip hop a break, then go and seek out the underground hip hop, the reason to do so, creativity, the place where the real essence of hip hop live, from throw ups to b boys, no big labels telling mc's how to write or what to say, we'll that's my 2 pence worth.
If canibus stops releasing music..I think he should write a book or something. Canibus is a highly intelligent dude he should channel it in a different form to share with us because he has alot to share. I would like to hear him speak and touch on deep topics...wether it be an interview or if he started his own blog..whatever.
+Smile4up y'all got to give this guy break... dont get me wrong,He should not have done it, but he went thru some things(locked up) before the battle resulting in him not remembering his lyrics. Though he was wrong for using a notepad of all things, this is a guy whos always been known as the best and now has pressure on him as he tried to remember what he wrote. That was the reason for him taking long to spit between verses.switz was at least considerate for canibus's thoughts and situation, and stated how this could've happened
When I tell people that Canibus is one of the best to ever do it, they look at me like I'm growing a second head. Well, maybe you should actually listen to some of his stuff before you are so quick to judge, because, to put it plainly, Canibus is ill.
"Rope a dope" bc the first three Babygrande albums are outta print...if he lose than people a sway away from Canibus...but bus murdered diz truthfully "what is a Canadian Arabian?"I mean let's be honest everyone steals his material... "bootleggers be in the front row trying to get a clear copy"Master of the art of rhyming...never heard anyone better Stack Bundles came close... without the excessive knowledge..but pureness and clarity...
Something I've learned as a man - after years of trials and mistakes - is that you gotta take responsibility for your actions and your failures. That's the only way you can improve and grow as a human being. You gotta take FULL responsibility for your actions (not "yeah, I fucked up, BUT (fill in the excuse)..."). As a grown ass man, Bis should know that by now. People were roasting him after battle because of what HE did in the battle. It was one of the most tragic, embarrassing performances in the history of battle rap, without exaggerating. Dude literally pulled a notebook out halfway through the battle, after admitting his opponent beat him and that he wasn't prepared. I've literally NEVER seen some shit like that before (or since). It was especially bad cuz Bis was considered this legend with the pen, not to mention he was apparently paid a lot for the sub-par performance. His best move would've been to just say "Hey, I fucked up. I wasn't prepared enough and didn't take it serious enough, and I paid for it" and then either admitted battling wasn't for him, or decided to give it another shot. Instead, he made excuses and then disappeared.
The interviewer should of asked why he wasn't able to perform right @ 4:20 of the interview. "Someone would have to be in my shoes to know why I wasn't in form"
I am fully convinced that the whole kotd battle was a farce. I mean, canibus took a notepad out? Ok, where was it earlier? He had a broken arm and the other one could be seen all the time, the room was full of people so you can't put it on the ground or on something, you couldn't hide it under your shirt because it can still be seen and with a broken arm you can't take it easily, so it was staged. Why would he do that? I don't know, probably they were paying him to do like that. That episode is really much less relevant than what people think.
I read most of your comments i agree dizaster did lose quite some battles after the one with bis. But honestly from the start of the video bis wasn't taking it seriously because of his career. And as i fan of bis the battle changes nothing dizaster didnt hurt his legacy to hip hop he's already written in the books. What does he have to show for himself other then battles respect those who came before you.
'Bis should'vejust spit the whole second verse to "Last Laugh" Battle done lmao!! Diz does his thing in the battle arena,, but his fans is too stupid to realize Diz studied canibus and copies his shit when he goes "Multi-Syllable" and spits low.. Bis left his Mark on hip hop a long time ago. Nigga will forever be remembered,
Of all the responses on VladTV, Swizz had the best response. But that is not an excuse to pull out the notepad. You just don't do it. That was the common denominator in any hip hop artist who remarked on the battle. It degrades someone so lyrically gifted as Canibus to a whole new low.
You can't take nothing away from bis , Now many Mc would jump in the ring and battle face to face? CANIBUS IS THE TRUTH!!!! In the battle it seems like he didn't prepare.
canibus has to understand...... one of the world greatest MCs pull out a notebook in the middle of the battle.... he expect people not to talk about it for a long time and not ask questions or bring it up.. canibus still the one of the greatest tho
Listen...sounds like Canibus is bringing up a lot of excuses..if you're shit was weak how'd you expect the crowd to react? Everyone was probably surprised the other dude was slaying him and Canibus felt embarrassed n ashamed about it..so all this talk means nothing to me. I'll always respect n appreciate what he did in the 90's but he just lost that battle..badly..
the thing with battling is.... where are you gonna go with it?? after you've destroyed everyone and proved you're "the best" THEN WHAT?!?! canibus is taking hip hop to a whole new level with RTJ2INFINITY
Tony C If he ever drops it? He has already released 2 new singles, and the album "Fait Accompli" is available for preorder right now on itunes, and Amazon. It will be sold at Best Buy, FYE,etc. His first single is called "Pay Me In Gold", the 2nd single is "The Primary Axiom". The 3rd Song features Crooked I,Nino Graye, & Flawless The MC called "Wreck Room". Album Drops June 10th. Facebook "AlmightyCanibus"
Biz killed Diz in the first round and I felt like he was playing with his food to prove a point but it backfire, honestly! Most spectators see it otherwise! Real talk! The 1st round was verse I never heard of but it was deep the other 2 round was his old verse. He was being funny! True fans can see it!
Canibus is still one of the best writers in hip hop history jus listen too beast from the east verse off the lost boys track shit probably one of the best verses in history from the 90's, but he is not a battle rapper diz is he does it everyday thats why he smashed him.
Excuses Excuses. This fool said for years that no one on this earth could battle him lmao. At the beginning of kotd he said, " I brought enough rymes to snuff all four of them out" what a joke. He didn't even have enough to snuff 1.
thank you! He crushed that dude with creativity. I honestly thought the notepad was him making fun of diz or just saying you not ready for me bruh. Diz said some shit he heard someone else say about bis. hearsay.
No one questions why biss had stitches. ..and an arm brace! Who knows wtf happened! Obviously he was in some shit that night of the battle!'and biss did aite the 1/3 of the battle!
Bis set himself up foh... If he would of won he would of bragged like he was dis and dat... He lost.. I done seen dis battle a few times but.... If he wasnt built for da pit... He should of not jumped foh... Superman is dead!!
I love how people hate other artists because they love another one. They hate on artists without even listening to there albums or songs because they love another album and artists songs. This ugly comparison is brutal in hiphop. Remember east coast west coast bs ? It's the same shit... Because you liked a rapper from west coast you hated artists from east coast even if it was good . Not everybody but majority think like that.
What the fuck is he talkin' about, a battle shows your chance to get yours. What happens in the game in hip hop happens anyway so fuck it get yours. Canibus was probably paid to throw the fight. He knows he could've killed the battle. He let that dude win because of some bullshit cause that's not gonna mean anything. Everybody knows Canibus got skills. Period. This shit will haunt him the rest of his fuckin' life.
Notepad would have been better described when notepadsignificant. Notepadding about and letting responses notepad about without correcting notepads would be useful. Now when notepad has died off notepad wants to journalize about the intrinsic notepad long after people could be notechoked. Stuck in a bubble of note pages.
love bis, but this is what happens when niggas is not on your level..I feel your pain son word....another reason why casidy went in and got quarter mill, crazy .. the .money is there....
Canibus was off Canibus . weed can hurt the best of us i know this is off topic but look at lance stephenson AKA BORN READY But hes struggling now and its clear In his eyes that he be high as hell J.R Smith one of the greatest 6th men After his best season with the knicks they found marijuana in his system....NEVER BEEN THE SAME PLAYER THAT SHIT WILL CATCH UP WITH YOU NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE YOUR MIND IS THE TEMPLE
the only people that give a crap about KOTD is youtube kids, Canibus also got paid, and could have left, and unlike DIzaster who lives with his mom, and how many albums did Dizaster sell? Does he have one? Canibus had a problem with a label such as mike patton, both artists, Canibus is not a rap hip hop guy, he's an artist, after 200 BC he did an incrediblely funny thing with C TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORIES, and then started amazing stuff with The Cirriculum, Rip the Jacker, for whom the bell tolls, Melatonin Majik, listen to C of Tranquility, him and Keith Murry's Undergods, Lyrical Law
Huh?! Wtf said anything about listening to rap ONLY for the beats? If you don't care about beats, you just want lyrics, only listen to battle rap then. Smh
Both are GREAT rappers with 2 completely different styles. Cannibus will always be one of the greatest lyricists EVER and Diz is one of the best battle rappers I've ever seen but bottom line Cannibus did agree to battle and lost big time. I think he should of just kept it moving, took the L and stop doing these interviews and making mad excuses. He ain't acting like a G. But still much respect to Cannibus. He def is one of the reason's why I got into producing and rapping. So for great hip hop coming straight out of Brooklyn Check me out and my newest Vid. Search Fortune Fella - Rags to Riches. ONe LOve and Blessed be!
I thought this was the only interview he did? just curious this is the only one I found with canibus. I do think many people were asked about this battle way too much it felt unnecessary. Everybody should take it as they take it, I don't hear any excuses he doesn't relate anything about why he did anything in the battle wish he had at least here but whatever better he didn't cause too many speak before him hard to say anything afterwards people jump on that bandwagon too fast music is music to me I get that so many put passion into it I am a writer as well poetry everyday can't stop just feel like how all this been deal'ed with is going all sideways and makes anything said come out that way
