The fact that Canik, who came out years back as a budget line of pistols, has released a micro pistol with more capacity than the P365 for less money and barely any larger is nothing short of amazing to me.
Sig 365 xl has the same capacity and is lighter. Or 3in sig slide w 12rd grip. Even lighter w same capacity, height, but lighter. Nothing wrong with the canik but its not doing anything the other can't do.
I really love Canik as a company. They are showing everybody else how it’s done. Listening to their customers and giving really high quality at a budget price is pretty much as good as it gets from a customer’s perspective.
For the money, you absolutely can’t beat a Canik pistol. For what they give you, out of the box, it is hands-down one of the best stock pistols made. I have been waiting three years for Canik to finally come out with something that could possibly make me change my 43X EDC. Cannot wait to get my hands on the MC 9 and run some defensive drills with it. If it’s trigger is anything like the prior Canik triggers, along with the same reliability I’ve gotten from all of my Caniks, it will be without question the new king of concealed carry. Unless you have actually ran a Canik pistol through defensive drills for at least 1000 rounds, keep moving on and save your hate for someone else!
Canik has really been listening to their customer base and making incredible pistols all together. But especially for the price point! They have become my personal favorite to take to the range. Another great overview love your channel!
@@HuntFishShootChannel that’s just a matter of shortening the barrel and grips hence why it can still take the 18 round canik mags. The internals and especially the trigger are absolutely stolen from Walter as well as the petruding striker system. Plus the rest of their line up is also 80% Walther DNA.
If it was quite that easy you would think walther would have made a micro like this. Obviously there is a very hot market for micro 9's these last few years. As for triggers in my personal opinion canik has got it out of the box so they must have used the extra 20% for improvements though I wish canik would have thought out the grip texture like the walther pdp. I will dang sure give that to walther all day long. But hey to each their own!
I have watched this particular video three times. What I am taking away from it is that a good trigger is very very important. I have always felt that the trigger doesn’t really matter, because I as a shooter, should be able to compensate and overcome any shortcomings of the trigger. But when I see a shooter with your skill level routinely discuss the quality of the trigger and how critically important it is a bell went off in my head. I am now fully starting to realize that I deserve to have a quality trigger from the beginning. Huge “learning moment” for me! Many thanks!
Hey glad we can help! Bad triggers can be worked through to some extent but they can begin to hinder a shooter at some point as well. With a good shooter the trigger being better can do nothing but enhance. Less room for error. Triggers are everything but they are a large part of the equation!
The name brand on the grip has never mattered much to me. I have the GX4 and absolutely love it. I own Sigs, Caniks, and Glocks (G48), and the Taurus definitely stacks up. I'm planning on picking up the MC9 when it comes out. Lot of great micros out there, so it really comes down to personal preference.
I purchased the GX4 after trying out the Hellcat and P365 along with others. I actually went with the GX4 over them all because it had the best trigger IMO,felt great in the hand and of course the price was way better. I carry it along with the 43X MOS and Hellcat Pro on a daily basis. That being said, I got excited about the Canik when it was announced, it's on my list without even trying it out yet.
I also have the GX4 and the version I got had a fiber optic sight for about $20 more. It shoots very well. I am getting a MC9 if the reviews stay positive in the next 6 mo.
Excellent review. Sounds like the Canik is the best trigger hands down, and then comes neck and neck or slightly takes the edge overall in all of the other important considerations covered here. Then when you factor in everything that comes in the box, the optic readiness, and the value, wow, I think we have a winner amongst some very good competition.
This is the way I see Canik and Girsan in general. What they’re doing for the price is outstanding. Between this, the Canik Rival-S, and the Girsan 2311, they’re making waves. If this can finish a couple thousand round review reliably, I’ll pick one up.
i thought I got a good deal for $250 at a gun show. The front sight fell off on the 2 sessions at the range. I upgraded to night sight anyway. Great gun for the money.
Other than being a great video, as are all your videos, I also respect that you take the time to respond to everyone's comments. Kudos to you! Nice work!
It’s important, there are legitimate questions and some of the guns people mention in the comments aren’t bought or acquired due to a lack of traffic on RU-vid or overall search volume. Thanks for watching!
Very nice comparison. One of the thing I had to do on my P365 10 round mag is to round off the corners at the back of the baseplate. They were squared off just enough that they were stabbing into my palm, leaving a noticeable mark. After they were rounded off, I had no issues.
Great video, I own a gx4, but after hearing Canik came out with a new micro compact also watching a few review including this one. Now I can’t wait to get me one in black.
Yep. I may just trade my GX4 for it. I don't see myself getting rid of my P365XL with Wilson Combat grip and M*Carbo trigger and spring kit with AC return spring. It actually makes the P365 nice to shoot.
@@HuntFishShootChannel it's like the difference between a Mustang and a Porsche. Both are good, and you won't go wrong with either, but one of them is just better.
I was waiting for this comparison. It was fantastic! I own 3 Sig P365s. I’ve always wanted a better trigger. The Canik MC9 has won my heart. Gotta have one. Loved your review. Great job !
for money, I bought GX4 and for size and feel, p365(paid $499 with two 10rd & one 12rd mag & 1 box of personal ammo). no more guns, running out of storage at home. thanks for your review, best comparison on micro compacts.
Same! I have p365 and G42(my edc for 10 years). Couldn't pass up a good deal for GX4 at a gun show for $250! My edc will always be G42. Light, small, easy to cc, comfortable, and easy to shoot. 7+1 is good enough for me. I will try the MC9 out just because people be bragging about it.
Just picked up my canik mete mc9 as my first firearm and I love everything about it. Taking it to the range Friday for some testing and praying it performs flawlessly.
Absolutely love my HELLCAT!!! Just got my hands on the MC9, definitely a nicer trigger pull but still gettin’ used to the slight size difference… both you can’t go wrong with either
First time that I have watched one of your videos. And I'm quite impressed. Dude! The fact that you can hold these tiny little guns and maintain an almost FLAT recoil pattern is astounding! My hat goes off to your crazy mad skills. Having the choices that were in my choice group for a micro nine all in one vid and in such an in-depth comparison, was extremely helpful. Great vid!
Thank you Lee! Some training and practice, and you can do the same no doubt! Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comment! Hopefully you stick around for the rest of what we have to offer!
@@HuntFishShootChannel HFS, Thank you for the quick response! I'm really sorry it took me long to write back! But, I appreciate the encouragement, that means a lot 😊 I've been stuck in No-No New Jersey for too long, and need to start practicing again. Especially now that I can purchase again, and am looking for a small, compact carry weapon. Can you recommend anything as for a grip on these smaller weapons where pinky and 2nd hand holds are... um... so much different? Indeed! I've watched some more of your videos, and am greatly liking your channel! 😁👍
Thanks Lee! For the dominant hand pressure is like your shaking hands with someone and get that grip as high as you can in the backstrap. Then the support hand will fit into the knuckle grooves and take up the grip space and crush the other hand and rear of the grip like a vise. Kinda hard to describe in words. We did do a grip for recoil video awhile back but I have switched up a few things since then. We have had some requests about your particular ask for micro compacts so I think we need to make a video on it!
Literally the comparison I wanted to see I carry MR920 and thickness for me is a big factor. Crazy the difference, I looked at the specs and reading specs versus actually seeing it in person very different... much appreciated and great video as always..
I have all of these. The Hellcat out shoots all of them, hands down. That's with 4 different shooters. But... they all will definitely get the job done. P.S. The Canik has the sweetest trigger.
As someone who owns a Hellcat but rented a p365 and did back-to-back mags many times, the Hellcat has SIGNIFICANTLY more felt recoil over the P365. Ammo all out of the same box. I would put it in the +20%-30% range, and that's with a stock p365 and the Hellcat with a Hogue grip. Of course, your personal experience is yours and mine is mine, but personally I'm here researching whether my next carry gun is the MC9 or the P365x.
@@samnolte749 own a 365 carry a 43x and even tho I've had no issue with the SIG I wouldn't buy it again. I think it is absolutely terrible. I carry my standard 43 when I want smaller. But my wife loves the 365 so we are all different
shot my friend's Hellcat. The gap of the mag bit my pinky finger!!! the gun is snappy. Had XDS 9mm before. Had to sell it because it was very snappy. Springfield makes snappy guns. Never i'll buy any springfield.
man you handle all of those little pistols so well like you are shooting a bigger gun. very good shooting and recoil management. plenty of people act like the hellcat recoils so hard. Its nice to see you say its not that bad compared to the other popular choices. Im the type to keep looking at other options and i decide im going to throw a hogue grip on my hellcat and just learn to shoot better. I could not even try any micro 9s at my local range and just bought the hellcat on a whim because i remember the reviews and it just felt better in my hands at the time.
Nice comparison! I have a GX4 and a P365XL (modified with a Wilson Combat grip and M*Carbo trigger and spring kit with ArmoryCraft return spring), and used to have the Hellcat. Hated the Hellcat, even with an Apex trigger kit in it. Traded it for the GX4 and a good chunk of store credit and don't regret it. However, I will probably trade the GX4 for the MC9.
Just became a fan of your channel. You have the most detailed and informative descriptions of all the videos I've watched about the products I've been looking at. Thank you very much for your hard work. Looking forward to watching all your videos. Keep up the good work.
I bought my wife the Canik MC9...well...it is the best shooting little pistol I have ever fired. The wife and I know own 3 Caniks. She owns the MC9, and the Mete SFT, and I own the TP9 Elite Combat. I am a traditional Smith & Wesson guy, and EDC the M&P 2.0 Compact. But, after shooting the MC9, I may pick one up for myself as an EDC that I can switch out with the S&W when I need a little more concealability. Canik makes great weapons. I just hope they start to produce rifles in the near future!
Well. I’m glad I watched this. Trigger is my biggest selling point. I wanted to get the sig x macro or the mete mc9 but if the sig trigger is mushy then it’s a huge no. Mc9 will save me a bunch of money too
Dropping in a trigger kit from ArmoryCraft or M*Carbo will help the P365 trigger a lot, but it still doesn't hold a candle to a Canik trigger. The best microcompact trigger I've felt so far (since the MC9 won't be released until March) is the Kimber R7 Mako. Phenomenal trigger! It didn't work for me in other aspects, so I went back to the P365, but got a XL and put a M*Carbo trigger kit in it with a Wilson Combat XL grip module. Makes the P365 a completely different gun. That said, I will be getting the MC9 as soon as I can. My METE SFT needs a little brother.
Good comparison, I would’ve liked to see the thickness of the pistols compared. Because to me that is sometimes more important than the length when it comes to CCW. Also I think the M&P Shield Plus is a top contender as well!
You are probably the only RU-vidr that I’ve watched that rated the Hellcat as less snappy than the others in its class. I have the Hellcat pro and again many of the reviews on RU-vid complain about its snappiness. I’m just not seeing what they’re talking about. I find it very easy to manage. I guess it really is a subjective experience.
The Hellcat shoots like a Glock, Glocks are always less snappy than their competitors. Micro compacts in general have snap, but I have always felt the Hellcat was one of the least. Maybe some folks need help with their grip 😂
@@HuntFishShootChannel I agree with this completely. I bought the P365 and just could not get good groups no matter how much I tried to improve my grip, stance etc. Hellcat is a challenge as well, but much easier to maintain a solid grip and consistent sight picture. But I'm holding out to try the mc9 before I invest in another micro, because canik has proven to be the best bang for the buck, over all the manufacturers, in my opinion. I'm also interested in trying the new Masada micro that IWI is releasing this year. That would make a good comparison video if you are taking requests. Lol.
I think most of these micros are similar in recoil and the real difference for people is which ones they are able to get better grips on naturally and inherently shoot better. They all are so similar in size and weight, but some people like and get better grips on certain firearms and end up shooting better
I own the Glock 43x, 26, 27, Taurus Gx4, Sig 365 (which I traded because it didn't fit or feel good in my hand while shooting). My Gx4 is my "go to" for daily conceal carry. It fills out and fits my hand the best with the large blackstrap. I have over 800 rds in 7 months on my GX4 (even after sending it back in for the trigger issue). Im honestly excited to get my hands on the new Canik Micro and see how it does. I hope it lives up to the hype.
An excellent review! I have the sig P365 and have never liked its trigger. I carry it with the 12 round mags which add a little to the grip length and this size and shape of the P365 with the 12 round mag seems to me like the perfect size for the way I carry it. I've been researching the MC 9 with it's optic mounting system that will easily take the Holosun 507k or 407k without using a mounting plate and thus enable a co-witness with the iron sights. Your review has helped me make the decision to add the MC9 to my concealed carry guns.
I'm newer to Pistols so I'm learning quite a bit. I have a Canik rival and a shield plus performance center for carry. I want to shoot a hellcat pro, a p365 and the new mc9. For canik just over $400 I might end up just buying one and making my collection 3 lol. My shield Is a 4" barrel so it's probably almost identical in length, canik did say they weren't going for the absolute smallest, they went smallest for best function which from what I have heard seems to be successful
The MC9 is almost identical in size to the Shield Plus with the 3.1" barrel. The 4" is a good 3/4" to an inch longer. I own all three now and have compared them all side by side.
Out of those four Micro 9's having never touched any of them I would take the Canik and never give it a second thought. That being said I have three Micro 9's and they are not any of those. My first was a Walther PPS M2 which is a single stack. The other two are a Shield Plus and a Glock 48. If those three did not absolutely have my needs covered already the Canik would be a very attractive option,
Fantastic , honest and a complete fair review with guns that are all very close in all aspects . For me, the best reviews up to now of micro 9. CONGRATULATIONS 🎉. Smith & Wesson Shield Plus out of the group selection maybe because of size !
Nice video, own Taurus and Caniks and like both. Caniks by far have a better trigger than any other gun for the money. Liked and subscribed. Can never have enough info on pistols these days.
You really nailed the description of SiG triggers, I always described them as spongy. I actually prefer a stock Glock trigger. SiG’s triggers are surprisingly bad for a pre cocked striker, which the canik, Walther, and HK striker fired pistols all use
@@youngboyharless9769 Absolutely! My 3.5" PDP F-Series is ideal for me with it's mirror image ambi slide lock/releases and 15 second mag release swap (lefty) but she's also a 'fatty' at 1.34" thick!
Thank you for this thorough evaluation of these pistols. Evals. as good as this are rare, & you have removed some of the mystery of which ones to consider, great job.
I am 71 years old and only have my right arm. My carrying gun is a Kimber Ultra Carry II 45 ACP. Love this gun. Accurate shooter and smooth. Bought the Canik MC9 hopefully it will perform well. Will be taking it to the Range next week, will shoot hollow point bullets to see if it doesn't have any ftf issues. If it does, i be very disappointed.
Have a GX4, Shield Plus and 43X. Box stock the Shield Plus PC has the best trigger. Changed the 43x to a TTI trigger bar and it better. The GX4 has a good carry trigger with a positive break thats easy to define. I want to give the Canik a try. Iv'e owned a couple of Caniks and they both had great triggers. I wish Canik had made their micro more in the 43x size. I just think the 43x size is perfect for carry. Gonna totally ipgrade its trigger now with a Glock performance trigger and Jonny Glock shoe/bar.
Glock is overpriced. You literally have to upgrade everything. The only glock that I edc is my G42 for 10 years. wouldn't buy any glocks in this life time. Unless they come out with double stack G42!
It would have been cool to see a S&W Shield+ on the table. That trigger is just straight up hard to beat alone out of the box. And the list goes on and on. Cheers and thank you for the vid.
Great review for the pros and cons of each pistol. Canik offers so much to their customers for what you pay and aftermarket support is increasing. If Taurus could only offer better finishes on their pistols, and Sig can fix the triggers from being smushy then that might make a difference, but as of now Canik has been hitting home runs. Edit: What shooting gloves are you using? Given the micros do not have much room within the trigger guards. Thx.
For gloves, I have tried them all, literally. My favorite and go to tactical glove and shooting glove is the PIG Delta Glove. They are awesome. Canik is killing it! 🔥
I have a G3C and after 2,000 rounds with no malfunctions I’m going to the canik mc9 cause the trigger is now super spongy like where there was a wall then break now there isn’t and all I’ve heard about canik is being reliable with a high quality trigger
I love the Canik line of guns... I have a tpfsr in 9mm...I have a Sig P365 X Macro Comp which I like as my everyday carry BUT I JUST LOVE MY WALTHER PDP COMPACT... the most accurate and the trigger is the best on any production gun ... love carrying this gun!!
Good comparison video. But probably the 1st person I've heard to say the hellcat was the least snappy,. Everyone else tends to agree it's the most snappy
I've been hoping for a comparison video since your you posted up the MC9 video. I've owned a standard 365 for a couple of years, and I now have a 365XL. The XL trigger is significantly better, still not perfect though. I appreciate it sir!
@user-ry2fy1mw6i The main difference is the trigger pull geometry. The flat face allows for better natural placement for improved leverage on the firing mechanism. It takes work with both to figure out what your personal preference will be, but in my experience with the flat vs curved on both the P320 and P365 FCUs the flat face improves the overall function and feel of it.
@@thatoneguy24752 It doesn't change the god awful slack after trigger wall which is literally the biggest issue with the p365 platform. I don't care what shape you make the trigger shoe-that trigger mechanism is garbage. The trigger doesn't break at the wall which is what most people want! People want it to break at the wall! People don't want to hit the wall, pull back a bunch of slack and guess when the gun is going to go off!!
Overall good video. If I didn't already have the Hellcat I would look at the Canik. One criticism of your video is on a table top review don't wear a black jacket with a black background and handle black guns. It made it very hard to see the guns.
The shield is actually not popular, you would be surprised how unpopular it is. It’s not a bad gun, in fact a good one! We did not or do not have one to compare.
I’m surprised it gets extremely positive reviews very close in size best trigger by far haven’t held mc9. He also it’s $400 or 450 for optics ready not even on sale. Night sights on the negative. I think it has. Is it slightly larger it’s kind of in between these and the 43X.
@@Yahweh-Chase-Bella have heard the performance center is pretty sweet. I shot hellcat and sig nearly the same. Even though I liked everything better on the hellcat. It didn’t translate to me shooting it better. I did shoot shield plus better by a good margin.
p365 any day i carry the 365XL with the romeo zero RDS. im waiting to get the back iron sight plate cause for a conceal carry i dont want the rds but i will say im coming close too 1,000 rounds though it and iv never had a single issue. gun or sight minus batteries dies around 5 months. i also clean it super good every 2-3rd range trip but i cant express my love for sig. my second favorite is my g43X btw
If Armalaser comes out with a laser for the Mc9 then that might put it on top for me. Love just about everything about it, really hoping they catch on and the aftermarket support gets better.
Got my GX4 in June, super stoked, struggled to get 40 rounds through it. Failure to go into battery, dead trigger, jams. After "repair", ran 120 rounds, five different magazines, two types of ammo, didn't get through one mag without failure. Really disappointed, love the feel and shot well w it when it did shoot. Back it goes, I guess, but can't trust it now.
Currently experiencing the same issues. Don't know what the true issue is. Thinking of sending it in. Love how it shoots, feels etc. but need to depend on it as an EDC.
@@matthewfisher3201 ikr, I've sent mine in twice now. Last time they said they replaced barrel, trigger assembly, and recoil spring. It actually tried to load one into battery right behind one that didn't fire. Jammed the mag and everything. Finally got it cleared, but had multiple other misfires and problems after that. Using multiple magazines and ammo, managed to empty a magazine without error only twice. Looking at sending in a third time.
Looks like an extremely long take up on the MC9? I currently carry a P365XL and really excited for this hit the stores. Hopefully I like it enjoy to replace the XL cuz I love Caniks
I had the same thought, worried about how far back it breaks, reminds me of the Taurus g2c trigger gotta go ALLTHEWAY back. But I have a newer gen GX4xl and they must have improved the trigger since the original GX4s. Mine's got smooth take-up and a completely solid wall, I can't force any grit or creep out of it no matter how slowly I try. Maybe a bit heavier than others, but so solid And it breaks far forward, lots of trigger reach room for big man hands
I pocket carry my P365X (in a non-printing DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster w/Flap), which has a flat trigger and slightly larger grip and beaver tail than the 10+1 version, and is 14+1 with a standard 12 round mag and the Magguts +2 kit. As far as I'm concerned, the 14+1 P365X (on which I've mounted a Nightstick TSM13G green laser/light combo, and added a slightly larger mag release) is the best micro 9 out there, bar none. I also only carry it with Underwood's 90 gr. Xtreme Defenders, because hollow points just can't reliably perform when shot from such a small barrel, while the XD's fluted solid copper projectiles work amazingly well in the P365.
hey Mike this was a great break down of these pistols. I have to tell you i own taurus G3 full size 9, i LOVE the gun. I had a hellcat and sold it a month later, just was not impressed at all with it. i have shot the 365 and again was not impressed. cant wait for the canik, but tbh i prefer my G3 over those others, i have well over 2000 rounds through it without any failures and i carry that bitch everyday. But, this was another great one brother.... thanks, chris
Oh yeah I totally agree… like I said other day I’m definitely watching for it to get to my gun shop. Thanks for the great info! Look forward to what’s next.. Chris
It's amazing how these gun manufacturers developed such high quality hi magazine capacity pistols in such a tiny little package we definitely have lots of options now we are definitely spoiled 🤣 I want them all OH yeah and GO TAURUS!! These guys actually entered the game and done excellent!! Okay HI POINT your up next 🧐
I have a Hellcat and Hellcat Pro with thousands of rounds through them. In my opinion, and in my hands, the MC9 is quite a bit better in pretty much every way. Im only at 1k rounds through my MC9 and plan to put another 1k through it before i carry it full time.
Many of you have to realize he compared the guns that he owns lol there are many micro 9s out there and impossible for anyone to do a full comparison of each. Would have been nice to see the Plus and 43x but someone would also want to see a Kimber comparison or even a Masada Slim. This is a great video and comparison. I own the Plus and Hellcat and will be getting the Canik.
I’m glad you listened to that part 😂 Moral of the story though, whichever is someone’s favorite is subjective and the Canik MC9 is a serious competitor.
I never thought i would like the hellcat trigger, until i did. Its hard to flinch or anticipate if your not quite sure when its gonna pop. Shield Plus has got to be the fovorite though. It fires when you just think about it.
@@HuntFishShootChannel I have to say, i think the SIG is popular because it brought a larger mag and a tiny size to the whole micro game. The P365 seems to have floated along because of the SIG name. But it really feels like the MC9, Shield Plus even the Hellcat are better guns, the only real thing they give up on the P365 is being slightly larger and it REALLY isnt that much of a difference. The MC9 for one seems to be superior to the P365 in every way possible cept for once again, being slightly bigger. Which isnt even a downside to a lot of people who want more space to grip.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Especially given their higher prices why can't every OEM make triggers this good on a striker fired? I'm looking at you Glock, Smith, Sig...And yes, I EDC a G19 with the Flitz job. Adequate and that's all. Thank you for the fine comparison vid.
This was an awesome video! Just subscribed! It was almost perfect but it was missing the shield plus and the 43x lol jk Ived had all of them and can't wait to get the new canik 😎👍
Hahah maybe in the future we will do an update with those if we acquire them. I own a G48 but the longer grip and slide goes into a different category like the plus or Sig XL.
Because both of those pistols are larger in every single dimension. Those are ultimately a different class of micro compact pistol. That would be an unfair comparison in general. We’ve reviewed both the Hellcat Pro and the X Macro, great pistols but they are nothing more than thinner compact size pistols. If you want me to pick since I have shot all of them and compare them, the macro is hands down the best shooter. It’s the easiest to shoot and shoots like a full size. It’s also the largest “micro” compact pistol available.
Your comparisons are great …. Of those .. I own the GX4 and I only have shot other than my GX4 is the Hellcat I think the grip improves with the GX4 with the 13rd mag … I actually have extensions on all my GX4 mags but one
I have owned the Hellcat, P365, and GX4. I traded the Hellcat for the GX4 and don't regret it. You are very correct that the grip on the GX4 improves a lot with the 13rd mag.
