I just received my Canik TP Series Competition Trigger Return Spring Kit, TP9SFx Performance Kit and TP9SFX SCHEMATIC PROMAT I had issues and Frank was there with the best custom service I have ever experienced. I am so glad I bought from his site supporting someone who cares. Thanks Frank.
Hey Frank, I just picked up a FSX last week and shot only 2 mags through it this weekend. So far I’m liking it a lot. I’ve had my eye on this gun sense October and finally just bought it. I’ve been watching your videos and the upgrades you are doing. Very nicely done. I like how you explain and show how to install the parts. Keep up the great work Dude!!
I'm not running the Springco recoil spring but I switched to a 6lb Glock extra power striker spring as insurance against a broken firing pin. The combination of the extra power recoil spring and a reduced power Glock striker safety plunger spring has made the trigger NICE.
I put 100 rounds of 147 grain Winchester then 50 rounds of Federal 150 grain Syntec then 50 rounds of 115 Federal. After this the gun ate the 115 without a hitch. I'm hoping that this could be new gun syndrome. If not I'm trying the Springco setup
Frank, I just purchased the TP9SFx last week. I love and hate it. How can a gun manufacturer produce a firearm that doesn't work? For the life of me cannot understand that. Out of the 30 guns that I own, not one of them has been like this. I want to call it the biggest piece of junk out there, but on the other hand, I want to say it is when it fires one of the best and most accurate guns I own. Out of the box, the very first round jammed, the second didn't eject and so on. Nearly every round had an issue. I even bought a very expensive box of ammo, now that helped a very little, it still jammed and failed to eject, but was a little better. How can the company produce a gun that I need to buy extra parts to make it work properly? It's like selling a car with the wrong engine it in, now I have to replace the engine so I can drive it around. I called the company, they said that the springs are too strong, they will send me a new spring. I said why would you send the guns out with the wrong springs in them? WHAT? Well, sometimes they are too strong.. He said they are 85 to 90 newtons strong, he will send out a lighter spring, should stop the failure to eject and the jamming. I told him, this is a new gun, it should work with zero issues. He asked me what ammo am I using, I said 124 grain, he said it should work properly with that grain ammo. I said from what videos and blogs are saying, there are so many problems with this gun. Anyway, I didn't want to kill my chance of getting this gun fixed, so I said thank you. Now I wait for the new spring. I will try to update. Thanks for this awesome video Frank. Looking forward to watching the others.. If the parts don't come next week, I will order both springs on my own dime and send the bill to Century Arms. :-) I know they won't pay me back, but still..
Ihad the same issue with my SF right out of box after several emails with a Matthew at canik and a call to Robert who actually knew what I was talking about, he's sending a different striker spring should be here tommorow
@@FrankXuFranktheTank oh my bad...i did not realize how old this video was lol. I just picked up the same set up you have there for a REALLY good deal.... and then I saw everyone was complaining about how oversprung they are. So I went ahead and bought the Sprinco kit.... haven't put it in yet.... i wanna shoot the pistol a little more and then make the swap so I can really notice the difference.
Timothy Baxley yea, I have people shoot factory spring for awhile and after they switch it to Sprinco set. They felt much better and shoots smoother. :)
Which Glock recoil spring did you use? And from what company? The whole assembly? Or, just the spring. My canik shoots great on Winchester 124g. Not on 115g.
Larry Benedict I’m using the Newton Glock 28 red extra power spring on my SFx!! For my recoil spring I use Sprinco Management System m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--xXhz8U03AQ.html
After putting in the Sprinco Recoil Management System and the Newton striker spring, how much easier was it to reacquire the red dot? I have this gun with a Vortex Venom and am considering changing these things out if it will help. Keep up the good work!
I think this is the problem with my Canik TP9SF. Sometimes it's like a light primer strike but I eject the cartridge & there is no primer strike. I heard & felt a click when pulling the trigger but maybe it was slightly out of battery so the primer wasn't struck. I ordered a 4 pound striker spring from Galloway Precision. I hope that fixes it. No problem with my TP9SFX.
@@FrankXuFranktheTank I couldn't find the red 28 newton extra power firing pin spring except on eBay & it was $44. I'll look again if the other spring is too light. It comes in next week.
Thanks you for asking. Canik has a really strong spring, even a extra power spring for Glock that I mentioned is still lower power than than Canik stock spring
Hello and thank you for all the info I'm a new owner of the canik tp9 sfx no problems as of yet i just noticed when i changed ammo grain from 115 to 124 the 124 didn't work as well. Question is do you think changing the recoil spring and the striker spring will help so i can shoot different ammo with no problems
So most of the 115 is sonic round and 147 is more like sub sonic round, which is slower than 125. The factory Canik is designed for +p round which is NATO round and those ammo is hotter than 115 for sure. I switch the recoil spring and striker spring at the same time to a reduce power spring and I have it for more than 45K rounds now. Check out frankthetankshooting.com
I've checked several places and they either didn't carry it or it was out of stock. Where would you recommend buying the Glock 28 newton firing pin spring.
do you mean how switch striker spring will help or how to install a new one? The video is back in 2017 and at that time Canik had an old designed striker with a super-strong spring that will cause the striker to break a lot even in dry fire. They improved the striker to CNC ones and it's way better now. The reason why is because if you have a striker fire gun and you switch to the lighter recoil spring for smoother action and run sub-sonic ammo. you need to balance the spring. You have two major springs are pulling the gun from both directions. Recoil spring pulling forward and striker spring pulling rearward. Once the recoil spring is switch to the lighter than the gun is no longer has enough energy to keep the slide close. In order to keep the gun balance, you do need to switch the striker spring to the lighter one so it won't pull the slide open. I've been shooting the same SFx for competition with the same setup for more than 40K rounds and it is still working fine.
Alden Liberty good question! So the yellow spring is better for minor power factor Ammo that is around 890 fps, aka subsonic rounds. I always carry extra spring to tune my Ammo. If you need red spring for your SFx. You can either get the extra spring or maybe go to my site frankthetankshooting.com and send me a message or email, we can work something out ;)
@@derrickmoul5920 yes, you can use it in all Canik model but all the new Canik comes out after 2017 do not have striker issue anymore. You can still switch it if you want to but it maybe have light primer strikes. If SC is your CCW, I do not recommend switch it.
I bought a TP9SFL on February 7, 2019. I took it to the range right out of the box it wouldn’t fire. Insight gunsmith at the range told me it came with a broken firing pin. Connected centuryarms about a month now get new to get a new firing pin, up on till now I have received any firing pin as part of the warranty program. Is there any where else to get firing pin for the TP9SFL? Cause it is frustrating buying a new gun and it wouldn’t fire.
mitchell kardor Century Arms now have milled firing pin you can buy on their site. It comes with 2 pins in it and it is amazing that OEM com out with this and with a really good deal. You can go to their website for more info:)
I bought the red sprinco RMS, have noticed it doesnt go foward all the way when doing soft dry fire/resets like you were demonstrating. Would the red or bkue striker spring work better sonce i dont have the lighter white RMS?
Frank Xu - Frank the Tank have you noticed how it does under full power operation? I havent got to go to the range since installing it. I would assume it will since the trigger is held for the reset.
I haven't had any issues with my SFX going back into battery when shooting, however it doesn't want to go into battery after doing a press check. I'm having the same issue with my TP9 Elite Combat. Both pistols will go back into battery if you push on the back, just not by themselves. Also, it only happens when the gun is loaded, not when the magazine is out and the chamber empty. I'm going to try and install the 6lb Glock striker spring in it to see if that will allow the stock recoil spring to pull it back into battery. If anyone has tried this with success or failure, I'd love to know how it turned out.
This video showed THAT you changed the spring but you didn't show HOW to remove the old spring and replace with the new spring. Is it that easy that one can figure out HOW to change the spring?
Dave Vachon I replied the video link on the other video you requested. And if you use computer to watch the video I will have a (!) icon when you hover your mouse on the video. In that icon you can click on it to see what video i suggests for that topic. If you are watch ing on your phone it will show the same icon when you click the video as well. If you don’t know how to do it, here is the link again:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jFruMV8n4UQ.html
@@severzero this video was filmed in 3 years ago. After I switched the spring and reported to Canik in Turkey. They update the striker to the CNC cut instead of the metal injection mold that you are seeing in the video. I still switch use my lighter spring for competition and I already shot more than 40K on the same Canik SFx
You said that the slide was impacting the frame. Did that happen to you before you replaced the recoil spring? Mine, which I had to send back due to chipping of the feed ramp, had a few dings on the left side of the frame when it was factory new after only 55 rounds?
MrJRon115 I do not have problems for that, the impact that I talked about is if you shoot it. You will fee the energy transfer from the slide/frame to your hand. After I change the Sprinco spring, it reduce the energy and the gun felt better when you shoot it. :) Right now almost 10000 rounds on this gun I do see chips on the feed ramp and on the left side on the frame, but i still shoot it without problems. The gun still holds up well I should say
I️ definitely think so. The truth is that the stock sticker spring is too strong that when you dry fire practice your gun the sticker pin breaks. I️ put this on and I️ still dry fire practice and now I️ even have more than 5000 round on this gun. No problem afterwards, even slightly improve the trigger pull
@@FrankXuFranktheTank i agree striker spring on canik is too strong ,i use a 5.5 lb glock striker spring an 13lb ss glock recoil spring,i can shoot plain 115g an 124g +p no problems.
In case anybody wants to try this on a regular length Canik, it absolutely did not work for me. I had the problems described in this video but probably 5 times as bad. I had these exact parts as well, I might have even commented on this very video. With the glock spring it still wouldnt go into battery with the sprinco part with the regular slide . You can tip the gun backwards quickly and it will go out of battery. Unfortunately the glock spring fails to ignite steel ammo reliably as well. With the stock striker spring its unusable with the sprinco system. To be fair nobody said itd work right, just posting a warning to others . Im disappointed in the lighter striker spring failing to ignite steel cased ammo in general. I broke my original firing pin at 2500 rounds. I agree with Frank here that the stock spring seems VERY over specced. However from an EU 9mm military/police handgun design point of view shooting 9mm NATO ball (hard primers) I understand how it could happen. Lets face it 99% of handguns in actual service wont get fired enough for a too strong striker spring to become a practical issue and the trade off is more reliable ignition in theoretically worse conditions. I dont know what the spring rate is on the factory striker spring but its pretty intense, and the extra power glock spring shown here is significantly less strong just by squeezing them. Maybe I can find some middle ground
I’m sorry to hear that :( I have this set up shoot more than 20,000 rounds on it and nothing happen after I switch it. I know some people have problem with the Newton 28 and Sprinco did make the striker spring for Canik recently due to people have light primer strikes. If you need some help give Sprinco USA info@sprinco.com or give them a call 800-397-9530
Actually the new model TP9 Elite Combat did improve the striker!! You can find the review video I made in my channel :) They also sale the striker on their website:)
