I had my husband record this so if we passed, we had it. However, if we failed, which we did, I would have the visual to see exactly where we needed to focus more on training.
Downside is, you're allowed to take the test twice and that's it. We failed once. If we take it again, it's pass or fail - end of story. Temperament tests are so few and far between, it's unknown at this point if we would take it again. If we do, I hope we pass. The only real lack was his refusal in going over the wire footing.
The test is structured in such a way to put more pressure on the dog as it goes. For this, we were told to NOT talk to the dog. The dog was allowed to do as they're going to do and I was merely an anchor point at the end of the leash.
WE HAVE SINCE PASSED A TEMPERAMENT TEST AFTER HE WAS MORE MATURE!!! You need to bear in mind, at this time, he was 18 months old and still very immature. Think teenage boy. That was him at this age. We went through this test just to get our feet wet and see how it went.
We did not fail because he was out of control. He refused to walk the grated surface and I don't blame him. I wouldn't have wanted to do that either. Please read comments if you have any further questions. I'll turn commenting back on when I have the ability to answer questions.
I simply posted this video so people could see they're not always roses and sunshine right off the bat, especially for a young intact male dog who is thinking more with his horomones than his actual brain. You are NOT supposed to train for this test.
