Do you grow any Cherry or Apricot trees? Cause cankers are more into those trees. And thank you, I can't wait to see them in bloom. I am currently keeping them under our carport to protect them a little from the cold, it is freezing during the night lately, - 4 degrees Celsius this morning. What is the weather like in your area? Have you planted all of your tomatoes out?
@@liensgarden301 planted some cherry trees from seed noticed 3 were up but only after I pulled the first thinking it was a weed, felt rather dumb but I'm over it, the other two are about 3 inches tall, be a few years before I get fruit, the tomatoes are planted but not up yet, also planted some onions and garlic. It's been unusually cool the last several days getting down to the mid 40 f° but still dry enough to have a wild fire that burnt around 1200 acres because of 30mph winds, fireworks started it. Wind blow it away from us, don't think anyone's house was burnt. So the cool wetter weather was a blessing.
The cankers on your cherry trees...I have seen a similar thing on my maple trees but I didn't know what it was. The bareroots that you potted...nice big plants! you are lucky, most of the time they are quite small. I prefer to buy them in person at a nursery so that I can choose a nice plant but now and then I get a rose online when I want heritage roses. I am amazed that you weeded that whole bed in one go, and then you moved two roses and the peony... that was a lot of work! It will be interesting to see how the cuttings go in the bed.
Yes, I am very happy with the roses I got from Bunnings, they are a good size. It was a lot of hard work cleaning up and moving the plants around but it was so satisfying. I do like browsing around to look in Bunnings or at the Nursery if they have some varieties that I haven't had or interesting so I can choose as well, but I do order more online cause they are cheaper if I bought quite a few.
Great timing of your video. I noticed yesterday that one of my cherry tree branches had gumosis, but didn’t investigate because it started raining. I assumed that it was caused by frost damage (I did some experimental pruning in summer and the new growth isn’t coping very well with the frost). Hadn’t thought of canker as a cause 😢. I’ll need to go and look tomorrow.
So, the big Cherry tree originally had the Gumosis and I did read they said it can be from the frost damage, sunburnt from the sun in early spring, then after 2 years it is getting worse. 😢 Hope yours will be fine.
Hi Liens. Thank you for this video, was not aware of canker problems. I realise my nectarine tree may have it. I notice you really like roses. Garden Express website has heaps for sale but too much for my budget. Anyway thank you for sharing. Your channel is very informative. Have a lovely day!
Hi Daniel, thank you for watching and lovely comment. I bought some roses from garden Express last Year, I agree the price from that place is expensive, I often buy mine from Treloar roses, I highly recommend this company, the price is much cheaper, have a look but of course some of David Austin's roses they don't have like Garden Express's. I did order 20 more roses and they will be delivered in late July. And yes, very sad about my 2 Cherry trees, I think I have to remove one of those, it is just very bad affected. If your Nectarine has this canker just try to cut that branch or branches off and spray with Copper Fungicide. Do you spray your Nectarine for the Peach leaf curl, I think I spray mine every year, so far I haven't seen any cankers on my nectarines yet, good luck to yours and let me know how it goes. Thank you again.
I have quite a few . This year I bought 4 carpet roses because they were only $14.90 each. Will see how that goes, never grew them before. Maybe will buy from Treloar next year.
