I just started watching this show after I was searching for Heavy Dayze and saw that episode. The genuine love for the plant , and the way you guys go about uncovering the history and telling the story is just freakin awesome. What a great show. Thank you two for doing this for the culture. It’s very important. 💯
When is the last time you saw Big Bud, Purple Bud, Early Girl, and even the real Bubblegum from the banks of the Wabash River in Indiana. Not to mention real 70's Skunk !!! They're gone for the most part. Great show fellas !!!
The Indiana Bubblegum cut (79'..?!) is still around. I've got a few packs of hybrids with it, and others certainly have it. Someone may have backcross seeds for sale..?! I'm just starting to watch this episode, and maybe they'll say it's not the original, lol..?! Otherwise, it's still around, but probably held close by many growers/seed companies. Heck, maybe you found it and are growing it now. I am watching a year later.👍💯🙏✌️
Juat started watching this podcast as my usual one(the greentable) hasnt uploaded yet love hearing your guys knowledge could listen to notsodog and matt do a lecture loved hearing the d story and the chem 91 storu got me hooked on this podcast.Thank you guys for the inspiration much luv from lil place called NZ
Big Sur Holy Weed was still being grown in Oregon a decade ago. An old school hippie farmer who had been growing since the 70s still had it. It was his single regular crop. He was part of the touring GD family, so that makes sense. He wasn't doing so hot the last time I heard from him; he's old enough to be paying the price for all the partying and hard living coming up at that time often led to. But he usually started his new crop from seed every couple of years, so I'm hoping it won't be completely lost.
Really great story! I've never heard of The Big Sur Holy Weed, in Seed form. I heard Bodhi thought he might have had it, and released it as Big Sur Holy Bud, because he wasn't sure (?), but haven't heard anything since. Thanks again, for this incredible story. I hope this gentleman is feeling better. The S.A.G.E.variety was one of my favorites, ever! When breeder Simon, of Serious Seeds, was asked what his favorite, non Serious variety was. Right away, he said "THSeeds S.A.G.E.". When asked why, he said it had a very "Adult Sativa" high, that he really liked, as well as many others breeders and smokers. And The Big Sur Holy Weed, was definitely the star of that great high. Hopefully, you'll be able to get some of these someday. That'd be another missing link, in our genetic history of Cannabis!👍💯🙏✌️
i had thunderfuck one time. super green exterior and the inside of the bud was purple. first time i ever saw this. this was 2009-2011 somewhere in that time
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the boom in home growing with the ease of LEDs and how so many seeds are being popped that it's inevitable that many individuals have popped or have mothers of incredible strains, that in the past would have been standout names due to the smaller community of growers. With many classic strains coming from popping a pack, I think there may well be many plants out there in home tents that in the past would have made the cut to be a 'classic strains'.
The difference between an amazing strain a random person finds in their small home grow, and one found by a super famous breeder is just marketting. Flat out. Hype, reach, and marketting. Some of the best selections and clones I have been given were from relatively unknown people to the online scene. I definitely stand firmly with you in that idea
@@BreedersSyndicate Thanks for the response, enjoying binging the pods. If I could offer a topic for future debate I would be interested to hear your thoughts on how much breeders have 'steered' cannabis over the years and how much of it has just been happy accidents. What are good examples of breeders having a definite input and purposefully adding or removing traits in a lineage. What are the successes and failures of breeding in terms of actually succeeding in passing over desired traits or is it just a lottery? Cheers!
If someone wanted to pull out that more lemony sour D from back in the day what would be some of the stuff they would look for? I don’t have access to clones so I’m looking for some seed line that throws that super lemony/sour/gassy/kushy types of notes
I was given 2 clones of Matanuska Thunderfuck in 2002 and they were the smallest, sickly almost dead looking as they grew but had faith in them.. They got really dark green then dried kind of purplish with frosty white sugar coated small nugs with a maybe 3-4 oz per plant and compared to the nl5 looked like duff when finished and partners sort of tossed aside . It became one of my treasured smokes for the next few months.. I thought SSB sold those around the 2000's?
ok, thanks and sorry like I said I have a prescription and am down to show. Not trying to push around pr anything like that, and sorry if it came out me sounding like a cop. I tought it would all be good. Thats cool you really responded like you said you would. good luck and thanks for sharing, happy holidays@@BreedersSyndicate
This is a little old now, but... not sure what state you're in. Here in PA there are no "prescriptions", you get a recommendation, and then the Department of Health issues you a medical card. You simply take that card, or in your case prescription, to your local dispensary, and they will help you out. I would recommend doing some research on how the process works in your state, as well as the laws associated with it. You may be able to grow your own under state law. This all varies state to state, but, as far as I know, personal sales are lot legal in any of the legal states. However, some do allow a designated person to grow medicine for you as well. Again, best bet, check local laws.
