I'd think they made her say “cannabis scientist“ and she's probably versed in a wider spectrum. But anyways, still 100% agree with you. I think most people nowadays are educated and know that yes it's a drug and yes it does have addictive tendencies and yes you should be responsible (just like (legal) alcohol) and no it's definately not harmless (just. Like. Alc.), but just give adults a reasonable choice without having to get criminal. If booze is legal, there are very little arguments for weed being not. Germany is currently getting there, could be we're there in 2024.

I'm glad you addressed the difference of indica and sativa may very well be in our heads. 100% smoking is a different experience now than 20 plus years ago. Ak47 won the cannabis cup for sativa and a few years later the very same plant won the cup for indica. Even if it is in our heads you can still tell the difference. I almost wish there were no strain names or packaging lol.
@ABirchwoodVampire
@ABirchwoodVampire 7 месяцев назад
It's not in our heads. The terpene percentage determines if a strain is indica or sativa. Indicas have higher amounts of terpene called myrcene which makes on tired. Well sativa has higher amounts of other terpenes that make one energized and have more of a head high.
@handsomelarsandhisfabulousjars
@handsomelarsandhisfabulousjars 6 месяцев назад
@@ABirchwoodVampire With such clear differences you would think there would be people who could tell which was which just by smoking it however I can't do this and I've never met anyone who can. Also indica and sativa refer to genetics, and terpene profiles aren't really dependent on that. You can have an indica and a sativa with very similar terp profiles or two indicas or two sativa's with very different terp composition.

@@P-Funk69when landraces were popular, it was based upon your geo region. In Afghani(stan), Pakistan, and India, indicas grow naturally and have a naturally bushy structure, shorter but chunkier. People also tend to forget that cannabis has a lot if different substances/molecules with different effects. There are different breeds grown for different uses and effects. You are only concisered an addict if not having it negatively disrupts your life and and and you keep being distracted by not having it untill you buy more. If not smoking is going to mess up your sleep cycle and diet then you are concisered an addict. But people need to cope, not everyone can have the optimal social health and weed is a better coping tool then gambling, binge eating, drinking, promiscuity and thrill seeking

for the record, I am addicted to weed. when I stop smoking, I have physical symptoms that take a week to three weeks to normalize. sweating, loss of appetite and focus, quick to rage ect why do I want t stop? I'd love to save all that money, it's not great for my lungs and weed suppresses your REM sleep at night making it harder to control your emotions and respond to emotions in other people but it's the most effective way to put a lock on my hyperactive behavior and sometimes manic . I’ve always thought the difference between sativa and Indica were the genetics of the plant. However depending on how long you wait to harvest after the trichomes form on the buds will determine whether it’s more of a head high or body high. The longer the plant goes without being harvested the darker and more cloudy the trichomes get. The darker they are they heavier the high feels.
@kosmique

when the trichomes get darker the plant starts overriping. shouldnt let them go past amber-colored you might only want up to 40-50% amber, rest cloudy,

It's incredibly hard to separate the two. Cannabis has been a part of human society for thousands of years, and the politics go back just as far. Look up Chris Bennett, he's a researcher who has written numerous books on the subject, and has a few good youtube videos out there where he talks in depth. I recall him talking about how in pre-Judaic times, high priests (but NOT the common people) take part in the "meeting of the tent" to anoint themselves (as well as burn incense) with oil infused with, among other things "kaneh bosm" - which is thought by a growing number of researchers to be cannabis.

As someone who has been working in the cannabis industry for a few years now and has been invested in the educational aspect of cannabis, this video is amazing. One point I want to add though. On the topic of Indica vs Sativa, The names actually just refer to the manner in which the plant grows. Sativa plants typically have longer, more fanned out leaves while Indica plants have thicker, more bunched up leaves. The reason these terms started to apply to the effect is because of the terpene profiles that were common among the landrace strains. Indicas were typically higher in terpenes like myrcene and linalool. Giving them the relaxing effect that the name is famous for. Whereas Sativas were typically higher in Limonene and Caryophyllene. Which gives an uplifting, euphoric effect. Hope this helps clear up some confusion!

Exactly one grows short and the other grows tall. And both have different percentages of terpenes that effect if it's indica or sativa. The genetics basically shows they are subspecies of each other and not the exact same plants.

I'm really grateful to hear Amber come right out the gate with why some people smoke daily, and without any stigma involved. I am so sick and tired of people lumping me in with this pre-conceived notion of laziness, addiction, and bad life choices. I am an auDHD, disabled 24 year old. I have never been on a mood stabilizer that works better for me than weed. I have hEDS, fibromyalgia, and polyarthritis, as well as several cervical spine issues. People need to stop with the unwarranted advice and realize that there are legitimate, natural healing properties in this plant. My mobility, mood, and overall ability to function is completely due to weed at this point in my life. We have to also remember that in the U.S., healthcare is not accessible at all. Weed is far more accessible than healthcare, even in non-legal states. Weed helps me to unmask, and dulls my sensory overload to the point I'm able to manage social interactions a lot better. I also grew up with parents who were addicted to hard drugs, and while obviously people struggling with addiction deserve resources, care, and empathy, I am tired of weed being compared to other addictions. The only reason I am unwilling to stop smoking as of now is because of how well it helps me maintain my health.

I'm an on/off recreational user. I realized that responsible use only has positive effects for me, but as my usage becomes irresponsible, negative effects start to manifest. Below I've listed my subjective positive and negative effects. Positives (responsible usage): insightful thoughts about things you care about (like music production), relaxing activities are way more relaxing and enjoyable, headspace and visuals when tolerance is low, absurd music enhancement, and potentially more complex and intentional art creation or ideas. Negatives (heavy usage): no dreams, weaker and fragmented mental visualization, less thoughts overall, less curiosity and general motivation, and unpleasant mental effects upon quitting (head feels empty and hypnagogic hallucinations are heavily exaggerated, aswell as an inability to sleep that makes you slightly delirious and further intensifies hypnagogic hallucinations) I recommend buying a time capsule case or something, and only taking out enough for you to smoke in a single sitting, then lock the case for atleast 24 hours or beyond. Irresponsible use basically just means addiction for me. And responsible use is about how much space you can create between sessions, so to milk the positive effects and prevent any negatives.

I have one problem with one of these responses, indica vs sativa. See indica plants should contain higher amounts of CBN the cannabnoid resposable for making you sleepy in cannabis while sativa contains higher levels of cbg, this is the main difference. One problem I found when mas specing strains is that many venders dont care about this information and are selling it as what ever tbey feel it smells more like this is not a good way to classify this plant. Also as thc sits it tends to brake down slowly into cbd cbn cbg etc but expacaly CBN so the time frame in witch you smoke/decarb the plant is very important. Also watch out for different consintrates being marked one way or the other, most venders get quite pure thc and then add terps and then call it indica or sativa, this is a problematic part of this industry for individuals who are looking for medical purposes. Me I use pure CBN tinctures with my flower to make sure im geting the disired effect.

While it’s true that it’s not physically addictive and does not cause withdrawals, many have used the term “psychologically addictive” to say that they find it incredibly difficult to stop smoking, and always find a “reason” to keep smoking, no matter how dire the circumstances. As someone who’s been a smoker themselves, and surrounding by people who partake as well, I’ve seen it countless times where people just cannot quit smoking, even when they’re about to lose their car or something. @ 8:50 wrong word used in text "anthocyanin" has to do with colors in plants. I believe you meant to type the word "anandamide". Anandamide is a lipid mediator that acts as an endogenous ligand of CB1 receptors. These receptors are also the primary molecular target responsible for the pharmacological effects of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis sativa.

I feel so vindicated about the indica vs sativa thing. I've been telling my partner for YEARS that there is no discernable difference.

Yeah man. I tell everyone this. I always say it has more to do with what's in your stomach and how hydrated you are. Also, HOW you inhale. I get a different high if I cough and I get a different high if I inhale fresh air while inhaling smoke as well.

I've smoked for 35 years and Ive not dreamed for decades except when Ive briefly stopped.I agree that Indica and Sativa don't feel any different, but early picked buds (milky trichromes) are more heady and speedy later picked buds (amber trichromes) feel more sleepy.

I've always said that the whole Sativa/Indica debate goes back to people who were growing on mother natures time. They harvested everything at the same time, and the indica was over done and the sativa wasn't done yet.

I wish she'd talk about the difference between regular edibles and newer fast-acting edibles you can get at dispensaries these days. I'd love to know the science behind them.

Has a lot to do with the formulation and encapsulation of the cannabinoid. If you get deliver it quicker through the membranes, intestine wall and Inhibit degradation you’ll get it quicker and a better bioavailability.

About the sleep thing, I do have extreme differences between when I smoke and don't smoke, and my sleep paralysis. When I do smoke, while it can still occur is incredibly uncommon, but after a few days to a week after not smoking, the episodes become much more frequent, sometimes nightly. They have however, even when I do smoke, become much more common over the last couple years in general. So it's kinda hard to get an accurate estimation of how much it actually effects SP in particular, even for just me personally.

i never had SP, but when i was young and had nightmares, my sister had read a book saying it can have ties to sleeping on your back. i cannot stress how much of a life changer this knowledge was to me... ever since that very day, I have lived a life without any nightmares... if i did have a nightmare i would wake up to find out i somehow turned onto my back while sleeping. its an absolute accurate fact to me. i can only imagine this could help for sleep paralysis, given the nature how the experience seems to usually play out, people are definitely on their backs when i read of their experiences. I hope this actually helps.

@@kosmique may be true for you, is not for me. I sleep on my sides, still get SP and nightmares. And my friend, who only sleeps on their sides and stomach, gets nightmares almost nightly as well.
