@user-pv8jy1nt8f everything points to Cannan. His photo fit, the bottle of champagne he had with ribbons on the bottle, which previous girlfriends said he did. He was released nearby 3 days prior, the comment to a girlfriend about Suzy being buried at Norton barracks. The police said his body language was telling them he did it
Sorry. I take it back saying you were Cannan. Suzy Lamphugh was a beauty. It was the reason it affected me more than any similar case. I like New York and San Francisco. Hope you live in a nice part. Us is cool. I am curious how you know I am not from us. I am from uk, unfortunately. @user-pv8jy1nt8f
@user-pv8jy1nt8f Suzy was so beautiful. It makes the case even more tragic. Cannans a piece of shit. The other amazing fact is she worked long a go with another famous English serial killer.Steve Wright on the QE2. Why can't I have those odds when I do the lottery?
@user-pv8jy1nt8f Suzy Lamphugh was extremely beautiful. She knew Steve Wright, another English serial killer as well when she was on the QE2. What are the odds on that? Why can't I get those odds playing the euro?
Interesting about the dating agency video. According to Christopher Berry Dee's excellent book on Cannan, the dating agency owner said she had a bad feeling about him from the start and decided not to show the video to any clients. This (earlier) documentary claims the opposite. I'm inclined to believe that it was shown to women and the agency lady later denied it when she realised the potentially deadly consequences that could have resulted.
snowbelle74 I recall reading that he was a magnet for women and they'd flock round him in pubs etc? Weird that he'd use an agency really but he's all about specific types? Weird guy.
No I don't think she had him down as violent she or nobody can know that. All she felt was a bad feeling about him which she could have had with other clients too. I don't think Circumstantial evidence is good enough . People are on death row on Circumstantial evidence or even executed but they're innocent. Very tragic story.
The woman from the dating agency sounds incredibly shallow. When she said "he was wearing a nice suit", it's laughable. As if that was some kind of guarantee of a good character.
My old uncle used to warn me back in the 90's not to be wary of people casually or shabbily dressed but it's the ones who dress sharp that you have to watch out for.
Yeah he used a few words incorrectly in that dating video. Anyone smart would have spotted it. But when someone's attractive you tend to overlook such flaws. You don't have to be dumb to fall for charm.
Wouldn't it be ironic if this man ever got out, tonnes of feminists protested, and then he got savagely bumped off a few days later by an otherwise misogynistic incel who never had any luck with women, so instead wanted Mr Cannan to feel how his victims felt? That would be brilliant!
"I`m in a sedimentary period"?..."I like dry humour such as Benny Hill"??..........hahaha....He`s not half as educated and clever as he and most of people in this vid seem to think he is!!
10:45 As a 6'6 monster who looks a bit like a werewolf, it's now been brought to my attention that the public see me as a potential rapist, thanks for spoiling my day, Ray Wyre
I remember the old htv commercial i would of been around 9 maybe 10 ol bob crampton with a moustache i remember him and Richard wyatt and bruce Hocking
Course they did, they just lied about it so they didn't look bad, nonoffense but a lot of people join agencies and now apps cos they can't pick up women in real life, she would have probably thought this is a good guy to the normal weirfos that they get total bullshit
The best part of Bundy & Cannan ( actually there’s no best part ) ran down the wall of an outside toilet as there was no bog roll, scum sucking filth. I can see through Cannan all day long, the BS spiel and over confidence is plain to see.
Dashing good looks? I don't think so. I saw part of his datinginterview without knowing who he was and I thought he was arrogant and full of it. I don't think the woman filming his dating video was in danger, but you would think this might make her think of doing at least a cursory background check on her agency's clients, but it didn't get mentioned. Police gave tons of support to Shirley's parents, but left her husband hanging, that was horrible.
Cannan certainly had a type , Shirley and suzy looked so similar, with the blonde hair and good looks , please don't let this beast out , he will kill again , he's a danger to innocent women .
Suzy was one of the most beautiful women ever and forever this case will sadden me a lot more than others because of it. Cannan should be burned alive.
He has hinted to the police, in interviews, that he will confess to being responsible for the murder & rape of Suzy Lamplugh, once his mother dies, I read this on Wikipedia, I doubt he is getting out and I think he knows this. I get the feeling his mother couldn’t handle hearing anything more about her psychopathic rapist son, hence why he won’t say. Why he can’t extend that consideration to the Lamplugh family I don’t know.😢
As I stated above: Serial killers love the fact they know where the body is but nobody else does. No, narcissistic people like Cannan will NOT say where he buried SL just because he is on his death bed. That dark secret only he knows means literally everything to him until the moment he dies. Our law just doesn't understand that just questioning him makes zero progress in the Lamplugh case. The way to deal with people like this is to torture them every single day with boiling hot water or a whip until they tell the truth about where their victims are buried. If they give a red herring, then the torturing doubles every time. They would then be forced to choose between keeping their secret or daily excruciating pain. Narcissistic people only respond to acts of violence.
He was handsome by the standards of the day, you can't really judge a person's looks by their mugshot when they have been dragged out of bed at 5am by armed police and realise they are going away for the rest of their life
It seems Cannan was left with psychological scars from his childhood. His father was distant and antagonistic toward him, leaving him with a deep sense of anger whereas his mother worshipped him, leaving him with deeply narcissistic sense of self entitlement. A very poisonous mix - so much of this type of crime is about the criminal seeking a sense of power over someone else. You can trace that back directly to his childhood.
Yeah it seems that their control is quite fragile when tested too like the woman who fought him off and other stories I’ve read of women breaking the control of would be attackers
@@ollyf5088 I guess the moral is to always fight in those situations....If they want your handbag, wallet, necklace or watch, give it to them. But if they want you fight like hell from the jump.
@@noongourfain it's a very tough situation to be in. There have been cases where the attacker has become more sexually excited in those circumstances and it's made things worse. Others where the lack of fighting has "spoiled it" for them and they've retreated. It's a life or death decision that nobody should ever have to take.
Life in the jail sentence meaning is a bit confusing and doesn't actually mean "life". Someone sentenced to "life" serves on average between 9 and 15 years. If his sentence was increased to 35 years, he's actually had his prison sentence increased, not reduced.
Let's be honest - I think it was more to do with the fact that he used to make out that he had money. They just don't want to say it, because it shows how shallow so many of the people who gravitated to him were. The lady from the dating agency seems particularly shallow.
I don't think that kind of thing occurred to anyone in those days. It was events like this that changed their approach. But then what checks are done today on dating sites?@@chrisj622

The attitude towards dating agencies though.. basically if you are good looking and have lots going for you you should have "no trouble" finding someone suggesting anyone who uses them is an ugly loser.
That attitude remains the same today. For all the background details about an individual all that really matters is how they look. Current online dating sites are just like this. No one reads the profile unless they're attractive. John Cannan would have had a field day. All you have to be is good-looking and dishonest. John Cannan had a fair idea what most women wanted to hear. All a psychopath has to do is lie - by the time his victim realises it'll be too late.
I read the book on the case - the reason he had the car and fancy flat was one of his aunts died while he was in jail and left him eight grand. A decent sum in 1986.
@@leedummett4412 Asfar as I remember, it was left to him while he was inside so yes. That's how he funded his lifestyle. I'm sure it was eight grand but it's a while since I read the book. Another thing I read was that his nickname amongst the other guys in the London hostel was 'Kipper' because he always wore a kipper tie. I've always had a fascination for this case as I live in Bristol and remember it very well - it could've been any of our girlfriends. But I've never thought he abducted Shirley Banks that evening - he drank in pubs and bars she frequented and I reckon he charmed her in some way to join him for a drink/get in his car. He could charm the birds from the trees.
