CANNED HEAT BLUES CANNED HEAT "FRIED HOCKEY BOOGIE" FROM THE LP "BOOGIE WITH CANNED HEAT" RELEASED JANUARY 21, 1968 DEDICATED TO TUNA AND BRIAN ... TWO BIG TIME FANS
Saw them in Kirkcaldy Scotland in 1970 at the Raith Ballroom. It was after blind owl but the bear was stomping. They were supported by Stone the Crows. This was the only time I got to see them live being a Scotsman.
Blind owl was in need of help and love. It's very sad to lose a musical genius like Allen. Blind owl will never be forgotten along with bear and RR HALL of FAME long overdue.
I'd say one of the greatest American Blues Bands. I'm going to say there was Muddy Waters who fronted some great bands through the 1960's, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band were unbeatable during the recording of their first two albums with Milke Bloomfield on lead guitar and not forgetting The Allman Brothers Band. Feel free to add any others into the mix...
When your last words were "This won't even get me high"(AND you were at the Palomino!!!) YOU ARE ROCK AND ROLL!! This is like the painter/poet thing, where the person isn't appreciated until a century passes! And RRHOF? FUCK OFF
Without the drug OD’s that took Alan Wilson and Bob Hite, would we not have known them without the drugs, or known them and still had them decades later?
Yeah, I am 10+ yrs. too late to say much about this band . . . Was there ever a band that could hold that 'drone' sound for so long w/out having it lose its intensity? I imagine an ancient man, club in hand faced with the task of motivating his tribesmen to protect the women and hold onto the lands that they had cultivated for so long thus making it so productive! . . . yes, women are precious!
diane m tuttle i agree with you im a 73 years old english woman who still adores these genius guys ,,,,,lots of love from south yorkshire england ....i love the usa xx
What is so weird, my pop from WW2 told me stories of Australians who thought they could filter 100 octane av gas thru bread and then drink it. Poor bastards all end up dead. Pop told in WW2 beer could get runways built. They would fly a b25 to Australia load it up an return to new geniu and replenish the Sea bees with their needs. Don't forget , most these guys not even 25yrs old.
@@AnthonyMonaghan Uhh....well... CH was the headliner, and at 12, the side doors opened and Bear came out on a pink painted elephant in nothing but a pair of diapers. Was a great evening. You missed it.
@@michaeld.mcclish Sounds like a ball. I'm sorry I missed it indeed. Born in 1970, I missed most of the bands that I love, Canned Heat being one of them. Just to clarify...a real elephant? In a diaper?! The world has changed, not for the better. Thank you for the anecdote.
I am a huge Canned Heat fan best blues band ever but I also heard some stuff and read it how Bob the bear Hite used to treat Alan Wilson like crap all the time also was wondering who the other guitarist during the Woodstock set is besides Alan Wilson if anybody knows could they share that with me please!!!!!!
Slick Mic The other guitar player at Woodstock is Harvey Mandel. That was only his third gig with the band. Check out his solo albums. Awesome! Played with John Mayall and on the Stones “Black and Blue” album as well.
Even bands that are friends have some bad times on the road. It's stressful. And doing a lot of drugs doesn't help. No, it doesn't :-) The Bear and the Blind Owl got on well most of the time. The real tension was between Larry Taylor and Henry Vestine, who really didn't get on. I always liked the idea that Henry was thrown out of the band for doing too much drugs -- he must have been taking a shedload, when you think what the others were taking! I don't think the band was ever better than the Boogie lineup.
Slick Mic All their "tunes" are on my I-pad " I-pad. "touch"....Totally "my generation" of blues..."Don't Forget to Boogie"!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪😎😎😎😎😎✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️❗️
"Wilson's death came fourteen months after the death of Brian Jones, just two weeks before the death of Jimi Hendrix, four weeks before the death of Janis Joplin, and ten months before the death of Jim Morrison, four artists who also died at the same age." YOU do the math...statistical impossibility.
Go on buzz a little bit Henry! Are you really experienced?! Love is a beautiful thing! Love can be found anywhere, even in a guitar! Great video, love the way you feature each of the boys as they do their boogie! Makes me want to get "refried"!!!!
