Good for you guys in chiming on national issues. These are troubled times, so much so that even our love for movies can console us only so much. 2020, Weird Year Uber Alles.
That would be spectacular. Though she will have to face off with Glenn Close in Hillbilly Elegy. I'm almost positive she's supporting. If you read the wiki plot summary for it it seems clear.
@@everythingisawesome2903 based on what??? she had tons of nominations when she was nominated two years ago as well. but Olivia Colman TOOK IT HOME. just like that. oscars don't work that way. If Amy Adams or Glen were to take THE OSCAR home after being nominated for tons of times they would've won by now. Saoirse Ronan has the same chance this year. This is her fifth nomination. NOT MUCH DIFFERENT THAN CLOSE OR ADAMS IS SHE? 5 times. never won. But I'm so certian because this character is rich. The story is porbably soooo character based. and ALSO ACTOR based. Like Kate and Saoirse. Come on! If Ronan was to get the oscar it would be for this character. period drama. a lesbian. in front of Kate Winslet.
@@parsashojaei1352 and Kate? Stil don't know why they don't give her her second oscsr for Steve Jobs in the same year Leo get his first. What a great winner Foto would that be? And we can all agree that the should be a double winner. I mean Zellweger has two (undeserved) now and Kate has one and Glenn close has zero? Oh dear...
Haven't gotten to see very many indie movies this year. The best movie I've seen so far is The Vast of Night which I wouldn't know about if is wasn't for you guys so thanks for that.
I have a feeling Soul could be a Best Picture contender since the last animated movie that was nominated for Best Picture was Toy Story 3. There were other animated films after Toy Story 3 in the 2010s that I felt like we’re not only deserving of winning Best Animated Film but deserved a Best Picture nomination as well like Inside Out, Coco and Spider-Man: Into The SpiderVerse.
@Diego Pisfil My predictions Best Picture Oscars 2021: Dune Tenet *THE FRENCH DISPATCH (WINNER)* Soul (runner-up) Da 5 Bloods Nomadland No Time To Die Mank
I think it's a great idea to highlight black movies but I wouldn't make it only necessaraly about race relations/police flicks. Black creatives also make other stuff and are often overlook. One of my favourite romance movies is "Love & Basketball" a very underrated film by Gina Prince-Bythewood, a black female director.
I'm heartbroken not to see Benedetta this year but at least The French Dispatch and Ammonite is happening this year. But when we acknowledge Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, let's acknowledge Francis Lee. He might have a Directing nomination. He's actually good.
Weirdly, directors of great lgbt films who are actually gay, have gotten shut out for Director recently. Like Carol and Call Me By Your Name. Exception: Moonlight (and Barry Jenkins is straight).
Yes!! Do the Right Thing and La Haine are two sides of the same coin about racism/police brutality. One starts with a riot and the other ends with a riot.
I don’t get why main stream Animation studios don’t submit their film them in competition, they really have nothing to lose if their good. I think it shows confidante.
@@MagnitudeReviews yes right.. I just know that they have been working on miyazaki project called "how do you lived" But i was completly blind that Goro's releasing a movie too Btw i'm not sure miyazaki film will be wrap this year tho, i have not hear any more progress behind it
@@MagnitudeReviews Mayazaki has said that only 15% work has done, his movie is not going to release this year, we will have to wait for it...maybe in 1-2 years
I really appreciate your bringing politics into your videos. Film is such an effective way to express what is going around us and it’s important we don’t ignore it!
