bjork deserved that award, but that must've been a strange experience. it's clear she didn't like lars the way she kinda snuck past him. they had a terrible on set relationship - and now we know why.
kinda late to the party, but tbh relationshops between bjork and trier on set were nightmare for a lot of reasons - she wasn't that nice of a person either, right from the start ignoring the rehearsals, being inadequate on stage, letting yourself just walk to the woods right in the middle of shooting for no reason, and trier wasn't so great either. she gave a marvelous performance in this film, no doubt. but her behaviour could in a moment cause a film's failure, because shooting could be simply cancelled since she hasn't came to the shooting this day.
@@itsrealnotafake She's just not an actress. It's a profession. I don't know why she took it on. I've never seen her off stage, but she seems inadequate everywhere during this period and Lars is a self-obsessed piece of shit. a creative writer, but at the same time a caveman provincial. many laughed at the words about nazism, and now he stands up for the russian occupiers who kill Ukrainian children every single day.
Today The Academy is more open than 20 years ago we Had Mary j Blidge last year and Lady Gaga this year Maybe if dancer in The dark was made Today Bjork Will win an oscar the final scene of this movie is striking.
that's why a care, she's human, being awarded usually make people happy, you know? And if after such an effort, you are recognized and you feel good, it's a normal thing to share it with someone who joined you through the process.
She actually loved working in this film and as you say she doesn't work for money'cause she already has it But, the anecdote is that when she saw this film she thought it was terribly sad and was horrified by the cruelty of this story. She actually made the promiseof never acting again, promise she kept for many years until she appeared in an movieof his husband/boyfriend (don't remember)
praxmex, it's true that she doesn't look THAT happy, but I believe she stated that she wanted to forget about "dancer in the dark" as soon as possible, because it had destroyed all her confidence in herself, so I think it's quite normal. Oh, and about the reverence: normally, if an artist is being applauded, it's the custom to make a reverence in front of the public, or bow your head, it shows that you're grateful about the applause. n_n
She's been thru so much. Started with the stalker who wanted to kill her then ended up killing himself. And, the way Lars emotionally/sexually abused her on the set of the movie. It seems like Björk has never fully recovered from those tragedies. 💔
Sh didn't like making this film? I think she wouldn't be so fantastic, if she didn't like it. She gives me the impression that she wouldn't do a job, just for the money, or for an award. I think she wouldn't accept this role, if she didn't like it, thst's what I am trying to say. I am not a fan of her (having all her CD etc), but this is what I believe of her
I think it's much better to just say thank you like she did instead of talking bullshit like everybody else does, pretending to be something/someone they are not. Sorry for my bad english, I'm from italy...
AcademyAwardsPerson It appears that one of the first scenes they shot was the ([BIG] SPOILER ALERT, WATCH OUT) execution of Selma. I've read (in the diaries of Catherine Deneuve) that Björk couldn't handle that scene, she was emotionaly broken, in the proccess and after of filming that scene. She didn't went to the set for a couple of days. I think that that is what started the fights. P.S: I swear that in the diares, there are at least 40 pages of Catherine Deneuve talking pure shit about Björk. Which it makes me kinda sad because I know Björk is not a bad person.
Rodrigo del Castillo And you´re totally right. Björk got so stressful for the pressure with Lars and the shot of the execution was one of the most difficult to Björk. Sure that she received a lot of bad commentaries from her film-mates but.. hey.. she didn´t have any preparation to be an actress, and even with that, she got the best performance ever.
Indeed she deserve the award but she looks sooooo false doing that reverences like if she were in front of the queen or something, her smile is frozen, also. YUCK
