"We don't sing about politics. We don't sing about religion...All our songs are short stories that, if anyone would so choose they could convert it into a horror movie. Really, that's all it is. We like gruesome, scary movies, and we want the lyrics to be like that. Yeah, it's about killing people, but it's not promoting it at all. Basically these are fictional stories, and that's it. And anyone who gets upset about it is ridiculous." -George Fisher from Cannibal Corpse
Sounds like stuff I write about. My parents think I'm disturbed, but in reality I fantasize about starting a kick ass band and making money off of my music, lol
Some death metal like death have actually a meaning and critics the society (political corruption, killing rapist, children born addicted whit drugs, sickness, evil of the human mind ecc ecc) not only horror stories. Death metal like grindcore and black metal are not genre for idiot whiteout meaning, they describe how evil can be the human, black metal have a interesting story of paganism and how abramathic religions destroy that culture around Europe, grindcore talk about politics and how people are ignorant and how humans suck (cripple bastards), death metal just describe the atrocities that happend every fucking day on this planet, demons, zombies, yookai and other horror creatures are not true but killers, cruel tyrants ecc ecc are actually true, sick people that do the worst thing that a human can do are actually real, even death metal can be political like grindcore but talk more on the cruel thing that they do. People prefer love song and there's no of bad in that, but when they critics this genres for their brutality (when they are the first that watch film horror) just don't understand the critics behind that, people forget how this world its evil not only flowers, they forget about terrorist, killers, gangstar and other shit???? Why if we actually talk about this thing by their real form they hate that, "negative songs" that people accept are only about sadness by engages and teenagers, and when they talk about criminality they only talk about be cool, but when actually a genre like death metal remember that gangster actually do horrible things or describe the atrocities of war....... NO TO MUCH VIOLENCE, fuck off.
I was in the middle of heavy traffic and had my windows down on a hot summer's day. I had this song playing quite loudly at a stop. There were tons of cars around me, and none of them were particularly enjoying my music, but nevertheless minding their own business. Then the vocals came in at 1:40 . About 30 heads slowly turned around from the adjacent cars and looked at me like..... wtf???
My favorite death metal song ever. Nothing can top this for me. The time changes, the riffs, the groove, the frantic solo, the heaviness. It's just perfect.
I can understand the "growling" in a lot of their slower songs, but after I look at the lyrics, it becomes shockingly easy to comprehend. As for wanting to get into Death Metal, you chose a great first band to listen to. Cannibal Corpse was the first real death metal band I listened to. If you're looking for more, I would definitely check out the Metal Blade Records website, they sign a lot of really good metal bands. But first, you should decide on what subgenre of metal you like the most.
I'll be honest, it was quite difficult for me to get into this song at first because this one of the most sporadically structured songs from Cannibal I've ever heard, especially the sudden changes leading up to and even during the breakdown. Now it's one of the songs I go back to most on Kill.
This band is one of the oldest death metal bands around, and is one of the first to make it this fast. The torture is definitely what they write their songs about, as do most death metal bands, but, as i have extensive knowledge of the genre, i find my own meaning in these seemingly meaningless songs.
Someone should make an emo song from the victim's perspective, but then the punchline is that its all a metaphor for being rejected by some girl he met Cx
0:51 five dozen nails will hold him down damn dude thats 60 nails 5 of which evidently through the neck. Im going to have to agree with Corpsegrinders assumption that the victim will definitely be held down by that
There's some kind of an actual meaning: the same thing as for watching horror movies. But if you're looking any kind of meaning beyond that, like, the meaning of life or a reflexion on Friedrich Niezsche's works (beyond "God is dead", that is), it's most probable that you won't find it.
What did I just listen to? I feel like since I know nothing of this band, I shouldn't judge this song that seems like they brutally torture people. Is there a deeper meaning to this song? Or is it really just about torture, and that cannibal corpse promotes it?
There was maniac with nickname "Fisher" who killed and tortured a lot of young boys by methods this song sings...)..and also there is a member of the band with last name Fisher..)
Usually when there's a horrible incident, like a school shooting or something, it's always the kid thats locked in his room listening to this horse shit
Vocals mess the song up. Why don't you guys stop pretending that it is a talent to scream stupid stuff for 4 minutes straight, damaging your throat in the process. This shit isn't art, it's analogous to post modern art museums.
Guttural voice it's perfect for this type of instrumental, can you immagine Justin bieber whit cannibal corpse instrumentals............. NO SHIT sign in this way require ability, it's not just screaming.
